I hate waiting for him to die

This is awful and is not the first time I've said this. I need my dad for certain reasons, yet the only way for him to stop trying to force Islam on me is to die a natural death - because I don't think there is any other way he'll stop. This situation is just too abhorrent :(

Open My Heart

This song begins with a prayer from someone who is asking God to open his or her heart to receive God’s truth and to make him or her a servant, pure within. This individual has been drawn to Jesus by the Father, and has responded to that call. He or she desires to please God, to give him praise, and to allow the Spirit of God to transform all his or her ways. And the individual acknowledges the fact that Jesus Christ died on a cross to save him or her from sin.

And, then we have the response from God: Repent of sin and be cleansed within. Obey all of Christ’s commands. Don’t let doubt and fear consume your life. Jesus cares for you, and he feels your pain. He is full of love, grace, kindness, tenderness and compassion towards us, yet he requires that to follow him we must die to our old lives of sin, be transformed in heart and mind of the Spirit of God, and we must put on our new lives in Jesus, “created to be like Christ in true righteousness and holiness” (See Ephesians 4:17-24; Luke 9:23-26).

He desires to have a relationship with us, but not just to save us from sin so we can go to heaven one day, but to deliver us out of slavery to sin so that we will now be slaves of God and of his righteousness. For he wants daily communion with us, and for us to follow him where he leads us in him showing us the plan he has for our lives. He asks that we bring our requests to him in prayer, that we lay our burdens at his feet, and that we trust him completely with our lives. Then we will know his comfort from above.

Open My Heart

An Original Work / July 2, 2013

“Be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil” (Rm. 16:19b).

Open my heart. Let Your truth in.
Make of me a servant, pure within;
Sing of Your praise all of my days.
Let Your Spirit transform all my ways.
Jesus Christ died on a cross to
Save me from my sin.
“Repent of sin. Be cleansed within.
Obey all of His commands today.”

“Why do you doubt? Why do you fear?
Jesus Christ will wipe away your tears.
He cares for you. He feels your pain.
Die to sin, and life with Him you’ll gain.
Follow Him where’er He leads you.
Talk with Him each day.
Then you will know what He has planned
For your life before your world began.”

“Come unto Me, weary in heart.
Let My love and grace to you impart.
Believe in Me. Trust in My care.
Take your burdens to the Lord in prayer.
He will meet all of your needs,
And give you peace within.
Rejoice in Him! Tell of His love.
He will give you comfort from above.”

In the Midst of Liars

“My soul is in the midst of lions;
I lie down amid fiery beasts—
the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows,
whose tongues are sharp swords.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!
They set a net for my steps;
my soul was bowed down.
They dug a pit in my way,
but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah
My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast!
I will sing and make melody!
Awake, my glory!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!” (Psalms 57:4-11 ESV)

We live in a day and age when so much is faked, so much is photoshopped, so much is doctored and altered and made to look one way while it is entirely the opposite of that. Liars and lies abound everywhere – within our governments, and the news media, and within the institutional market-driven “churches” (human based businesses). Charlatans and “wolves in sheep’s clothing” are everywhere you look. You can’t trust that anyone is who he says he is or that people on the internet are not robots (AI).

We can no longer take all people at face value, assuming that everyone is who he claims to be, and that is a very sad reality. We have to be discerning about all people and pray to the Lord for his counsel and wisdom in all circumstances so that we are not in danger of falling into the devil’s traps. For just because we see something on a video it doesn’t mean that it really happened and that it is not faked. And just because a certain news organization says something, it doesn’t mean that it is the truth.

And that applies with regard to “the church,” as well. So, just because someone quotes a Scripture, it does not mean that he is quoting it in its context, and so the way the Scripture is presented is false. It is a lie because it is being misrepresented by often willful and deliberate presentations of certain Scriptures out of context in order to teach what is false (lies). Like for example Ephesians 2:8-9 is often used to teach that God requires no works, but verse 10 says that we were created in Christ for good works.

So, we need to be wise, and we need to be discerning people, who don’t believe everything that certain people tell us just because we think we can trust those particular people. We have to open our eyes to see what is going on all around us and awaken to the reality that so much of what we see or hear or read is fake, or it is for our distraction so that we don’t notice what is really happening in our nations and within the gatherings of much of what are called “churches” but are really just businesses of human making.

We are definitely living in the end times the Bible described for us. Where we are in that I don’t know, but the signs of the times are just shouting out at us now for us to take notice and to pay attention to what is going on all around us. And we must come to the realization that we just cannot trust that everyone or even certain people are telling us the truth. And this is one of the reasons that the Scriptures emphasize that we must test what we hear and read to make certain that what we are hearing is indeed truth.

Nets (traps) and pits are being set in place, left and right, for us to fall into. And this is on a national level as well as within many of the gatherings of “churches.” So we need to pray for wisdom and discernment so that we don’t fall into these traps thinking that we are in the right place when we are truly in the wrong place. But those who set these traps for us will eventually fall into them themselves, if they haven’t already, for many of them are already there, which is why they are trying to pull us down with them.

So, it is critical for us who believe in Christ to keep our eyes focused on the Lord and that we put our trust in God and not in human beings who are bound to fail us. And we can only do this if our lives are surrendered to the Lord Jesus to do his will, and if we are walking in his ways and in his truth, and if we are denying self, dying daily to sin, and walking in obedience to his commands, in practice. Then we can hear the voice of the Lord when he comes to warn us against being deceived and when he speaks truth to us.

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

Hallowed be thy Name

Well, I think we might have a problem, or a few.

And Moses says to God, “Behold, I am coming to the sons of Israel, and have said to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they have said to me, What [is] His Name? What do I say to them?” And God says to Moses, “I AM THAT WHICH I AM.” He also says, “Thus you say to the sons of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.” And God says again to Moses, “Thus you say to the sons of Israel: YHWH, God of your fathers, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob, has sent me to you; this [is] My Name for all time, and this [is] My memorial, to generation [and] generation.
So the first problem, language barriers. YHWH doesn't say much in our language, but in the original, YHWH means by it's individual letters "behold the hand behold the nail", but together as word it means any and all forms of "to be" as in this passage.

Second problem then, translation. LORD doesn't translate any of the meanings in the original.

Third problem, the name of his Son. If we say, Yahshua, we use Yah as the root and arrive at the meaning "YHWH saves". But Jesus? Is he the son of Zeus?

But the fourth problem, whether we use Jesus or Yahshua, Lord or Yah, are we hallowing his name by using the right letters and phonetics, or by understanding his will, work and presence? Is succeeding at the former, but failing in the latter, an example of straining out a gnat but swallowing the camel?

In other words, do we gain or lose anything regarding what letters and phonetics we use, or is the only value in the kind of character that he is, or should I say, "the number of his name", sum total value, having taking everything into account?

What would then be some important characteristics, that we should not overlook?

Why are statues more common than icons in the West?

I was talking with an Eastern Orthodox priest earlier this week about my struggle deciding between Catholicism and Orthodoxy, and one of the things about Western Christianity he said was an innovation was the use of statues instead of icons. As I understand it, statues are a form of iconography, but they are not venerated as directly or commonly as icons are in an Orthodox church, so there is some legitimacy to distinguishing between a painted icon and a statue.

I looked for more information on why this difference exists, but couldn't find much; most of the results are defenses of the veneration of icons against accusations of idolatry. Does anyone know the reason for this difference?

Is it ok for married couples not to have children?

As a general rule, Genesis 1:

28 God blessed them. And God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth’
Psalm 127:

3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
Proverbs 17:

6 Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.
1 Timothy 5:

14 So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage their households, and give the adversary no occasion for slander.
It is good to have children. It is the usual practice. According to Paul, marriage and children go together.

On the other hand, there are some cases of bad news. Jesus said in Luke 12:

52 From now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three.
Matthew 26:

24 he said that it would’ve been better if Judas had never been born.
Is it okay for married couples not to have children?

I think so, but that is not the usual practice.

1 Corinthians 10:

31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Which Super Popular Movies Did You Not See?

There are movies everybody has seen. Things like the Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, the Lord of the Rings, Jaws, the Ten Commandments, the Avengers, the Terminator, Alien, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Rocky, The Magnificent Seven (the one with Yul Brynner), Dirty Harry, the Planet of the Apes (the one with Charleton Heston), the Dark Knight, Independence Day, Back to the Future, etc. What? You haven't seen some of those? What's wrong with you?? Those are legends! People are going to look at you funny if you say you haven't seen them.

Well, we all have different tastes. Some movies can offend your sensibilities. Younger folks may have missed out on the older stuff. And sometimes we just never get around to seeing something, especially if it would cost money. Personally, I'm not much of a movie watcher, although looking back at things I'm surprised at how many classics I've seen. Citizen Kane? The Sound of Music? Gone with the Wind? Yeah, things happen.

Here are some of the big-name movies that I could just never get motivated to watch:

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
Pulp Fiction
Friday the 13th and its sequels
Psycho
The Shawshank Redemption
Twilight and its sequels
Casablanca
On the Waterfront
Rebel Without a Cause
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Grease

Celibacy for Christ

Hello folks. Today's devotional hits hard, as I am a Christian bi guy, but would rather remain single and celibate to uphold Biblical teachings, unless married to a woman.

Date
May 30, 2024 | Celibacy for Christ
Verse
1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 (NIV): "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathens, who do not know God."

2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV): "Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."

Matthew 19:12b (NIV): "There are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it."

1 Corinthians 7:8-9 (NIV): "Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion."
Explanation
These four passages from the Bible all address the importance of sexual morality and the call for Christians to live a holy and chaste life. Let's examine each passage in turn and see how they relate to voluntary celibacy.
1 Thessalonians 4:3-8: In this passage, the Apostle Paul urges the Thessalonian believers to be sanctified, or set apart for God, and to avoid sexual immorality. He emphasizes the importance of controlling one's body in a way that is holy and honorable, and not in the passionate lust of the heathens who do not know God. While this passage does not explicitly mention voluntary celibacy, it does underscore the importance of sexual self-control and living a godly life.

2 Timothy 2:22: This verse instructs young people to flee evil desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. It encourages Christians to surround themselves with like-minded believers and to live a life pleasing to God. While this verse does not directly discuss celibacy, it emphasizes the importance of living a moral life and avoiding sexual sin.

Matthew 19:12b: In this passage, Jesus speaks of those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. A eunuch was a castrated male, and Jesus is using this as a metaphor for those who choose to remain celibate for the sake of the kingdom of God. This verse affirms that voluntary celibacy is a valid choice for those who feel called to it.

1 Corinthians 7:8-9: In this passage, Paul acknowledges that some people struggle with sexual desire and cannot control themselves. He advises that it is better for them to marry than to burn with passion. However, he also affirms the value of celibacy for those who can remain unmarried and dedicates their lives to God.
Societal Relevance
In modern society, Christians who wish to remain celibate to honor God may face challenges in a culture that often celebrates sexuality and promiscuity. To avoid getting into sexual perversions while keeping to biblical standards, Christians can take several steps:
  1. Surround yourself with like-minded believers: Seek out Christian communities, churches, and fellowships where you can build meaningful relationships and be encouraged in your faith.
  2. Focus on your relationship with God: Cultivate a deep and personal relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, and worship.
  3. Seek accountability: Find trusted friends or mentors who can provide guidance, encouragement, and support in your spiritual journey.
  4. Avoid situations that tempt you: Be intentional about the media you consume, the friends you keep, and the places you go.
  5. Live a life of service: Voluntary celibacy is not just about avoiding sexual sin but also about using your time, talents, and resources to serve God and others.
  6. Practice self-control: Cultivate habits of self-discipline and self-control in all areas of your life, not just in your sexuality.
  7. Seek professional help if needed: If you are struggling with pornography or other sexual addictions, consider seeking help from a professional counselor or support group.
Ultimately, the call to celibacy is a personal one that requires prayerful consideration and discernment. As Christians, we are called to live a life pleasing to God, and that may look different for each of us. May we all strive to follow God's will for our lives, whether that be in marriage or in celibacy.
For myself, as a Christian bi guy, I will remain single and celibate unless married to a woman, in order to stay true to God’s teaching, and prevent catching or spreading disease. Celibacy is similar to a seat belt or face mask, as these are methods to protect people from harm. Yes, there are a lot of handsome guys out there in the world, but it feels morally wrong for me to go against scripture and put others at risk. After hearing about the Mpox outbreak in 2022 (spread primarily by gay folks, but also straight intercourse), it has made me realize that even if hypothetically being “homosexual” is not a sin, verses about celibacy and homosexuality are in the Bible to warn us about protecting our health, as our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). According to a June 2012 study by the Guttmacher Institute, gay males are 2.3-6.9x more likely to receive an STD compared to straight male counterparts. In other words, it is safer for others and myself to remain celibate if gay or bi, instead of being in a homosexual relationship.

Mid-Trib Only The Rapture and Jewish Weddings

The Rapture and Jewish Weddings

There is an interesting parallel between a Jewish wedding and the Rapture. Only a Pre-Tribulation Rapture will fit into this scenario.
Three groups of people were present at every Jewish wedding—the groom, the bride, and the invited guests.
Three groups of people will also be involved in the marriage of the Lamb.

1. The Groom—this is Jesus (2 Cor. 11:2, Eph. 5:23-27)
2. The Bride—this is the Church (2 Cor. 11:2, Eph. 5:22-32, Rev. 21:9-10)
3. The Guests—these are people saved after the Rapture (Matt. 25:1-10).

Some people have mistakenly interpreted the 10 virgins as the Church.
However, they are the guests invited to the wedding feast and are not the bride.

Three Aspects of a Jewish Wedding
There were also three aspects of every Jewish wedding. The same is true with the marriage of the Lamb.

1. The Wedding Contract (Betrothal).
This is when a person is saved (2 Cor. 11:2).

2. The Wedding Ceremony (Groom receives Bride).
This is the Rapture (John 14:2-3). Revelation 19:7 literally reads, "The marriage of the Lamb came and His wife prepared herself." The wedding already occurred at the Rapture, and now the Lamb and the Church are about to return to earth for the wedding feast. This parallels what Jesus said in Luke 12:36, "And be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding…
” (It should read “wedding,” not "wedding feast" as some versions say. Why would someone wait after the wedding feast when the celebration is over?)

3. The Wedding Feast (Guests are invited to the celebration).
This is the Second Coming (Matt. 25:1-10) "Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb" (Rev. 19:9). A bride is not invited to her own wedding! The Church was married to Christ at the Rapture and the wedding feast will occur on earth after the Second Coming. Those people saved after the Rapture (the tribulation saints) will be invited to participate in the wedding feast.

And here's one more thought to ponder…

Three Times of Redemption (“Redemption" means "to purchase.”)

1. When you were saved by receiving Jesus as your Lord, He redeemed your spirit. (1 Peter 1:18, Eph. 1:7)
2. At the Rapture, Jesus will redeem your body. (Rom. 8:23, Eph. 1:14, 4:30).
3. At the Second Coming, Jesus will redeem the earth. (Rom. 8:19-22) At this time, the curse which was placed on it because of the fall of man (Gen. 3:17-19) will be lifted (Zech. 14:11).

Pre-Trib Only 16 hour day for the 2nd half of the Tribulation?

According to C.J.Lovik’s latest video (link below)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55ku40JxIkM&t=42s
the 7 Year Tribulation Period will begin on October 12, 2024.
(Tishri 10 - The Day of Atonement on the Jewish calendar)

If the hair on the back of your neck is beginning to bristle please relax. C.J.Lovik has never claimed to be a prophet, nor has he ever claimed to be a mouthpiece for God. He is however a very intelligent, extremely gifted bible teacher whose detailed work is thoroughly engaging. He has guessed wrong on two previous occasions and readily admits that he could be wrong this time also. This video is but one of many he has produced. All his videos are fascinating and worth watching… even the older ones where he guessed wrong. But who knows, perhaps this time he will hit the jackpot.

Irrespective of the actual start date (let’s just refer to it as “day one”).
On “Day One” of the 7 Year Tribulation Period, both C.J.Lovik and I are in agreement that…

Two major astronomical events will occur:

1. The earth’s orbital speed will increase resulting in a return to the ancient 360 day calendar year.
(7 yrs x 360 = 2520 days of Tribulation)

2. The moon’s orbital speed will slightly decrease resulting in a return to the ancient 30 day calendar month.
(12 months x 30 days = 360)

In the past God has; a) stopped the earth’s spin (Joshua’s long day) and
b) reversed the earth’s spin (Ahaz’s sundial), so the following is not beyond reason.

From here on I’m presenting my thoughts, (not C.J. Lovik’s):

Half-way into the 7 Year/2520 day Tribulation Period:

The earth’s rate of spin will increase substantially resulting in a shorter 16 hour day for the 2nd half of the Tribulation Period (1260 days)

Rev 8:12 Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck,
a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened.
A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.

The day will become ⅓ shorter during the “Great Tribulation”.
24 hrs minus 8 hrs
results in a new 16 hr day.
God will do this to preserve the lives of His elect who will enter into the 1000 year Millennial reign of Christ.

Matthew 24:22
“And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved;
but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.

Mark 13:20 “And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved;
but for the elect's sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.”

Today(before the Tribulation)
3.5 years equals 30,681 hours
(3.5 x 365.25 x 24 hrs = 30,681)

The 1st half of the Tribulation will have 441 fewer hours than today.
(3.5 x 360 x 24 hrs = 30,240)

The 2nd half of the Tribulation will have 10,521 fewer hours than today.
(3.5 x 360 x 16 hrs = 20,160 hours)

And how will the “Little Horn” (Antichrist) of Dan. 7:25 react to the new 16 hour day?
he shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
shall persecute the saints of the Most High,
and shall intend to change times and law.
Then the saints shall be given into his hand
for a time and times and half a time. ”

(or three and one-half years).

The Antichrist will “intend to change times”.
New “time standards” would have to be instituted to match earth’s new reality.
Existing clocks/calendars all worthless at this point.

The Hebrew verb to curse God

Genesis 12:

3 I will bless [H1288] those who bless [H1288] you, and him who dishonors you I will curse [H779], and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed [H1288].”

The verb H1288 appears 330 times. It is used positively all the time except on seven occasions: 1 Kings 21:10, 13; Job 1:5,11; Job 2:5,9; Psalm 10:3.

Psalm 10:

3 For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses[H1288] and renounces the LORD.

On all these 7 occasions, the object of cursing is God. The usual H799-curse is never used to curse God. In the OT, when someone curses God, he literally H1288-blesses God. Only the context reveals the negative connotation.
