  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LOL...Space Alien Base Located in Egyptian Desert!

A bizarre structure in the Egyptian desert and visible on Google Earth has sparked a wave of speculation among UFO hunters.

The strange complex, in barren landscape to the east of the capital Cairo, features two long pointed buildings surrounded by mysterious circles.

Its futuristic design has prompted a range of suggestions over what it is used for – with some even believing it has links to UFO research.

Well, folks, this is an old Soviet-era SA-2 GUIDELINE surface-to-air missile site. Back during the 1973 Arab-Israeli War, the Egyptians had about 300 of these sites in protecting them from Israeli air attacks. Although they had 300 sites built, they only had equipment for about half of them, so they played a constant shell game moving equipment from site to site. I spent my mornings charting the movements. There were thousands of these missile systems throughout the USSR and all their client states from the 60s through the 80s. They were easy to spot on the desert, but in places like Vietnam they were heavily camouflaged and presented a serious challenge to locate.

Interestingly, this site is in remarkably good condition. Maybe it's the desert air. I'm pretty sure the Russians have completely obsoleted this equipment...maybe the Egyptians haven't.

Why doesn't God communicate directly with humans more, only confusion

Hi,

So topic of discussion, why doesn't God communicate to humans directly more, like how we are doing now, but in text. Direct communication is two way, like how humans communicate with eachother via text, video call or in person. Yes sometimes God does do this, think of God talking to Moses, Abraham etc.

If God would talk more directly to us humans I think there would be no confusion in the churches, this the reason why we have different denominations, each denomination thinks they are right. But if God called all denominations together and talks to all of them like in a press conference there would be only one denomination. When Jesus returns he propably will hold a press conference for all to see, all confusion will be solved. You either obey Jesus or you dont obey him. Jesus has spoken so no one can really disagree with him.

They say we should fellowship more, but honestly I have done some fellowship, it seems everyone seems confused, I understand, they themselves are not hearing from God directly, it seems they are only seem to be guessing what God's want specifically. People disagreeing with eachother because they have their interpretation of bible verses.

In the time of Moses, God told Moses, Moses told the people, no one dared to question whether the message Moses gave was from God or not. It was obey or disobey, disobey and judgement came rather quickly sometimes. But then again why didnt God just broadcast the message to every people in Moses time, then Moses didnt have to tell them himself. Why didnt GOd just broadcast the message to the people, God seems to work like this in old testament, God tells prophets, prophets tell people. Question, in old testament time, how did the people know the prophet is a real prophet ? ok some like Elijah, Daniel, it is clear, I mean the guy did miracles, but some it seems are not so clear like Isiah Jermiah, what miracles did he do ? Nowadays people are abusing this, claiming to be so called prophets and controlling people.

My opinion it seems pastors nowadays, they themselves are just guessing what God want, by reading the bible and giving their own interpretation, or the interpreation taught by the denomination they are in. Only confusion in my opinion.

My solution for now, I am just using my common sense, ain't gonna listen to no pastor if I am in doubt, God has to tell me directly or I won't listen, thing is I have enough stuff to do in life, like making some money in a honest way offcourse, developing some new skill etc. For now I do support the church financially, I do not tithe, I give what I am willing to give and reasonable amount of money. The reason I don't tithe, is because I believe it is old convenant, ok you see even the subject of tithing there are different interpretations.

Even the organisational structure of the church their is disagreement, some say there must be an elder board that votes, some churches has only one pastor at the top who decides everything, I think the apostolic movement have this. Then u have churches that have financial transparacy, yearly annual reporting, some churches dont have this etc.

Because God isnt communicating directly to each member of the church, some leaders of the churches are abusing this, they say something like this, I am the prophet, so listen to me ! and they are using the church members to become rich, the members give tithes to the churches, some leaders live in mega mansion, while the members are struggling to make ends meet, giving their money to the churches.

Conclusion only confusion in the churches in my opinion.

10 Things Men Need in a Woman

I've had difficulty finding suitable content in the trad sphere. It's a mixed bag and the messages aren't always biblically sound or the delivery is not to my liking. But I happened upon two people on a platform I rarely visit and they're what I've been seeking.

This little nugget was worthy of sharing. The author is male and I don't believe he's married and he's Christian. Sometimes I wonder if we spend too much time on the wrong things and not enough on what matters most.

Girls at Sleepover Were Allegedly Drugged by 12-Year-Old's Dad: 'I Don't Feel Safe'

An Oregon man is accused of drugging three 12-year-old girls with benzodiazepine at his daughter’s sleepover last summer, then waiting for them to fall asleep.

Michael Meyden, 57, turned himself into police on Thursday and was indicted on nine felony and misdemeanor charges, including causing another to ingest a controlled substance, according to the Lake Oswego Police Department.

The affidavit says that later when the girls went to bed, one of the girls who secretly did not finish her drink saw Meyden come downstairs and perform tests to see if the girls were sleeping, including putting a finger under one of their noses and waving a hand in front of her face, according to The Lake Oswego Review.

the girl frantically texted her mother at 1:43 a.m. local time: <-- hero

Another girl could not walk without assistance when her parents picked her up that night, repeating “what happened,” police said, according to The Oregonian.

How Long Should I Allow an Unbelieve to Stay with Me?

Hello all,

Recently, a former coworker of mine broke up with his girlfriend of 6 years that he was living with. He's an unbeliever, but he's been receptive/interested in the gospel as long as I've known him. He has not accepted Christ yet as he said he doesn't want to give up his vices, he's not convinced he's deserving of God's wrath without Christ, and he's not sure that the Bible is 100% trustworthy/accurate. My wife and I decided to invite him to stay with us for a couple of weeks, as his ex and him said that they would need that much time away from each other before deciding if they could live together as roommates until he finds a more permanent solution.

He's come to church since he's been staying with us, but hasn't really had any takeaways. He's also met with one of the pastors and connected with a bunch of other guys in the church. He declined invitation to a bible study, and he's still not wanting to give his life to Christ. We thought it would only be for a couple of weeks, but the other day, he was getting some stuff from his apartment, and his ex and him got into an argument. She tried to leave but he tried to hold her back (non-violently). She left and called the cops and he was arrested and now he can't go back there or be near her. So it looks like he might need to stay with us longer.

My question is how long should I allow him to stay with us? I understand we should be more generous and helpful towards believers rather than unbelievers. It's gotten a bit much and you can understand the emotional state he's in has put a toll on my wife and I along with having to buy food for and cook for an additional person, as well as give up our privacy and alone time. I'm wanting to be generous and an example of Christ, but what's the cutoff point for an unbeliever? Or is it completely up to personal conviction? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!

Hello, my name is Philip. I am from Tacoma, Washington. I am a believer of Jesus Christ, who saved me from hell in May 1979. I am married, with seven children - five girls, two boys. I currently attend a Lutheran Church here in the Tacoma area. I found this forum looking for advice on a problem that I do not wish to share with my own church leadership, only because it involves a young member of my family who has started hating Israel and now hates me because I refuse to join agree with her negative attitude. In an argument, while I was driving my car, she threw a giant container of ice water water in my face when I told her that her hatred of Jews was anti-Semitic and anti-God. She says she hates me because how could I support such an evil country and how could she believe in a God that supports such a people? I refused to humor her and repeated my claim, that she is being played by the devil, that she is wrong, that her behavior and attitude is anti-Semitic. I am ashamed on her behalf and because I have failed to teach her correctly on the relationship between God and Israel. It saddens me that she has been sucked into Hamas propaganda since October 7. I was angry with her, so angry and I have to pray to God that the Spirit will keep my heart free from the anger I feel. Today I looked for resources, information, and found this site. I know I am not the only one who is dealing with this. I hope to find support, comfort, prayer and guidance on this forum. God Bless.

Nikki Haley beats Donald Trump in Washington DC for first primary victory; first woman ever to win a GOP primary for president

Nikki Haley beats Donald Trump in Washington DC for first primary victory

The BBC's US partner CBS reports that Ms Haley will receive all 19 Republican delegates who were up for grabs in Washington DC, giving her 43 delegates nationwide - well behind Mr Trump's 247.

Ms Haley, a former US ambassador to the UN, won 62.9% of the vote, to Mr Trump's 33.2%.

Ms Haley's campaign national spokesperson Olivia Perez-Cubas said: "It's not surprising that Republicans closest to Washington dysfunction are rejecting Donald Trump and all his chaos".

The Trump Campaign, however, was quick to dismiss Ms Haley's win, calling her the "Queen of the Swamp".

Voyage of St. Brendan

March is a month where 2 prominent Celtic saints’ day occur. Those of St. David of Wales ( Dewi Sant) on March 1 &, of course, St. Patrick of Ireland on March 17. In light of this and as the Orthodox Lenten fast commences on March 18 this year, it seems appropriate to provide info on another Celtic Saint, St. Brendan of Ireland and his journey. Much of his account is a spiritual journey and mystical in its nature. A significant amount repeatedly culminates i
during “Maundy Thursday” ( the Last Supper), Good Friday, Holy Saturday, & “Easter” ( Pascha). The rigors of the journey are Lenten at times within the account & definitely of an overall Lenten nature. For his final journey Brendan is told, “…you have a journey before you of 40 days, which will take you to Holy Saturday. You will celebrate Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday and the holy days of Easter where you have celebrated them for the last six years.”

Info on St. Brendan:

A pdf of his journey ( about 60 printed pp):

A good read for Orthodox, Catholics, & Protestants ( probably best for like liturgical Anglicans, Lutherans,Methodists etc) but for anyone receptive to it.

The Bible

I’m in a discussion on fb with someone who was bashing the Bible though not Catholicism. He doesn’t know I’m Catholic. I said the Bible is a wise and profound book. He replied something like this: “What part? Rape? Incest? Genocide?“ and he said that the Bible “just regurgitates beliefs and tenants from other religions.” How do I respond to that?
And is the Bible stories copied from other religions?

Be Strong and Very Courageous

“Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:6-9 ESV)

Now this was under the Old Covenant in the Old Testament, and these instructions were specifically for Joshua who was now to lead the people of Israel into the Promised Land after the death of Moses. So not all of this is going to apply to Christians today, but much of it will, if interpreted in light of the New Covenant and our relationships with Jesus Christ.

So, we who are followers of Jesus Christ, who are to lead others to become followers of Jesus Christ, are to be strong and courageous, for we will come up against much opposition, and most of that opposition is going to come from others who also profess faith in Jesus Christ but who are following after a false gospel of a false Christ created in the minds of human beings and not consistent with the teachings of the Scriptures.

And where is our Promised Land? It is heaven. It is our eternal destiny if we are those of genuine God-gifted and God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ who are walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commandments under the New Covenant. And we lead others to this Promised Land by sharing with them the truth of the Scriptures and not the lies which are permeating the church (or what is falsely called “church”) here in America today.

Now we who are followers of Jesus Christ, who are to be leading others to also be followers of Christ, are to be very careful to obey the Word of the Lord, which is all that is consistent with the teachings under the New Covenant, for we are not under the Old Covenant liturgical, ceremonial, sacrificial, purification, and dietary laws and restrictions, including the requirement for circumcision. We are under the New Covenant laws.

And we are not to turn from that law to the right or to the left, i.e. we are not to depart from the truth of the gospel in either direction, either towards legalism or towards liberalism (or libertinism). And we are not to turn to man-made gospels and institutional religion nor to any false teachers or false gods or false gospels which deter from what the Scriptures teach when they are taught accurately in their appropriate context.

And the Book of the Law for us today is not under the Old Covenant but under the New Covenant, which can be read in Matthew through Revelation. But the Old Testament is not irrelevant to us today. It just needs to be read and interpreted for us today in light of the New Covenant relationship we now have with Jesus Christ so that we are not living under Old Covenant laws which do not apply to us today. But we are not to be lawless.

We still have to obey the Lord under the New Covenant commands, which are many. We still have to walk in holiness and in righteousness and no longer in sin if we want to have salvation from sin and eternal life with God in heaven. And this is not saying that we have to be absolutely perfect in everything that we do, but that sin should no longer be what we practice, but righteousness and obedience to our Lord are now to be our practice.

Yet we not only need to be guarded against false gospels, but we also need to be guarded against the false “church.” For just because you give it the name “church” it does not mean that it is the church, the body of Christ of those of genuine God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ, who have died with Christ to sin and who are living to God and to his righteousness in the power and working of God’s Holy Spirit now living within them.

For so much of what is called “church” here in America are just businesses of human-origin being marketed to the people of the world. And in order to draw in large crowds of people from the world into their gatherings, they have made compromises with the world and with the teachings of the Scriptures in order to make the church and the Scriptures and Jesus Christ more agreeable to human flesh and to the ungodly of the world.

So, please be discerning about this, for when the Scriptures teach that we are not to neglect to meet together with other followers of Jesus Christ, it does not specify where we are to meet. For it can be anywhere – in a coffee shop, at a local restaurant, at the mall, on a street corner, at someone’s house, or on the internet. And it can be any day of the week and every day of the week, and any time of day or night or in the middle of the night.

But the Scriptures do give us instructions as to what our gatherings are to be about and who is to participate in them. For the purpose is for believers in Jesus Christ to gather with one another for our mutual encouragement and edification in our walks of faith and obedience to our Lord, as each one of us has a part in helping one another to grow to maturity in Jesus Christ and in helping one another to not depart from the faith. We are all needed!

Oh, to Be Like Thee, Blessed Redeemer

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, 1897
Music by W. J. Kirkpatrick, 1897

Oh, to be like Thee! blessèd Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Oh, to be like Thee! full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

O to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer others to save.

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,
Blessèd Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

Can you help with this quandary?

Hello,

I wonder if you might help me work out this for me? A little background first, so bear with me as its relevant.

Hugely influenced by Buddhism for many years, I mean decades - I had an experience that dictated I started to develop a faith in Christ. I won't go into the details, but it was a very simple openness to the possibility that I can be heard by Christ and as such I started to feel 'held' (emotionally and mentally). You have to realise, this was so far removed from the deep immersion in Buddhist philosophy (Madhyamika Prasangika if you're interested) and as such my subsequent view of reality - I still maintain that this particular school of Buddhism corners the non-dual approach. But anyway, none of that seemed anything more than a conceptual understanding, my mind and heart had given up and was leaning into this new feeling of 'faith'.

It was as if I was starting to see the world though eyes I had not used before. It was liberating and exciting. A much more relaxed approach to the inherent anxieties that we experience as humans.

However, there's always a 'but' isn't there! Of late, I have started to have some real doubts. The very 'faith' that I was experiencing, the positivity, the warmth and lack of anxiety has been replaced with an almost aggressive attitude to my previously new thinking style. Here's a breakdown of how I am thinking now - your help unpicking this would be gratefully received.

"...how could I be so naïve to believe? I mean, Christ was likely a profoundly empathic and altruistic man, but his teachings and advice has been turned into a machine with agendas often different from his initial agenda. The problem of evil is also too much of a thorn to be ignored. The arguments justifying why the old woman was robbed having been a humble Christian all her life, and the thief merely enjoying the fruits of his act simply just don't cut it any more... There's another thing, why would a kind and compassionate being not step in to assist their children when required? Not just once but all the time. If I saw my child go near a fire, I would IMMEDIATELY step in to stop them. If it happened again I wouldn't merely say 'well you have been told already that's dangerous' and leave them to be harmed.....its also so arrogant of me to assume that my experience as a budding Christian is unique to it being Christian, does that mean all other faiths are fundamentally wrong - that's pathologically arrogant....."

Anyway, you get the gist, but here's the thing. I am STILL feeling a nagging compulsion to give in, read the Bible, Pray to God etc..... Its really irritating me now, as exactly 50% of me is erring on the side of my thoughts are merely a desperate attempt to quash my existential fears....and 50% s=telling me its the Holy Spirit.

Thanks for reading.

Genocide?“ and he said that the Bible “just regurgitates beliefs and tenants from other religions.” How do I respond to that? And is the Bible stories copied from other religions?

Let's talk about the Trinity and Free Will.

I believe when we walk with Jesus, we come to a point where we start to separate scriptural truth, and things the Lord makes plain to us, from man made doctrines, and denominational beliefs.

The scriptures are full of verses that do not make free will, the king / big dog on the block, but instead talk about Gods Sovereignty. Let me just give one example, Paul says the following in

Romans CH 9
"16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” 18 Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.

19 You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?” 20 But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?"

Notice the underlined, I hope you concentrate on "Not of Him who wills" and "Why does He still find fault" (Note they are NOT disagreeing with Paul), then lastly "Who are you to reply against God (Notice Paul is strengthening their argument, he is not saying, no, no, you misunderstood my point, I meant, you know, if you are willing, then God does X,Y, or Z).

Here let me give the same verse from The Message Bible:

The same point was made when God said to Pharaoh, “I picked you as a bit player in this drama of my salvation power.” All we’re saying is that God has the first word, initiating the action in which we play our part for better or worse.

19 Are you going to object, “So how can God blame us for anything since he’s in charge of everything? If the big decisions are already made, what say do we have in it?”

20-33 Who in the world do you think you are to second-guess God? Do you for one moment suppose any of us knows enough to call God into question? Clay doesn’t talk back to the fingers that mold it, saying, “Why did you shape me like this?” Isn’t it obvious that a potter has a perfect right to shape one lump of clay into a vase for holding flowers and another into a pot for cooking beans? If God needs one style of pottery especially designed to show his angry displeasure and another style carefully crafted to show his glorious goodness, isn’t that all right? Either

Now let's talk about what we call the Godhead or trinity (I think we make this hard to understand)... We have one God, but we have 3 that are separate, yet one. You might say that sounds impossible. No, it's not. Let me share how I see it OK?

Let's start in Genesis, this is where we first see "The Word" in action. God (who is Spirit), says "Light Be" and Light became.

Now John Ch 1 says that Word (Lite be), created everything we see, and everything invisible.

John also says, that Word "BECAME" flesh and dwelt among us. Further John says that "One" (Jesus) was full of the Spirit without measure. For God is Spirit, and God filled the Lamb (Jesus), that sinless one, not like the first Adam, who sinned, full of His Spirit.

The scriptures also declare God and Jesus are "ONE"... How so?

Has God ever been flesh? Nope!

Has Jesus ever been totally flesh, absent of Spirit? Nope!

So they are one in Spirit, that is their common denominator.

So we have God, who is Spirit, Jesus who was born in the flesh, via a virgin, without sin, full of Gods Spirit, without measure, they are 2 and yet in Spirit they are one.

Then Jesus says, when I leave I will send this same Spirit to indwell you (of course this is not without measure). So we have 3, yet all have the same single common denominator, which is Spirit

JOHN 4
约翰福音第4章

32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.”
32耶稣回答说:“我有吃的东西,是你们所不知道的。”

33 So the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”
33 门徒彼此议论:“莫非有人拿什么给他吃吗?”

34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
34 耶稣对他们说:“我的食物就是遵行差我来那一位的旨意,做成他的工。

WHAT ARE YOU EATING?
你所吃的是什么?

It's important to eat well.
吃得好很重要。

The disciples had gone into the Samaritan village to buy food, they thought Jesus was hungry. But he had real food to eat.
门徒进了撒马利亚人的村庄去买食物,他们以为耶稣饿了。但他有真正的食物吃。

The food that Jesus was to do the will of his Father and to finish the work given to him by his father. We are following in his path.
耶稣的食物是要遵行他父亲的旨意,完成他父亲交给他的工作。我们正沿着他的道路前进。

Let me ask you these questions:
让我问你这些问题:

Are you doing the will of God?
你在遵行上帝的旨意吗?
Are you accomplishing the work God has given you?
你正在完成上帝交给你的工作吗?

Food is important to the body, without it, we won't survive, likewise if we don't do the will of God, we won't survive spiritually.
食物对身体很重要,没有食物,我们就无法生存,同样,如果我们不遵从上帝的旨意,我们灵里的生命就无法生存。

Are you doing the will of the Father and doing the task God has given you
你是遵行父的旨意,遵行神所吩咐你的事吗?

Below we will see what this task is
