  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Deuteronomy 8:3

Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

To interpret the NT as speaking against obeying the Torah is to interpret it as speaking against living by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

Who will accept the results?

Nearly 50% Of Republicans Say They Won’t Accept Election Results If Trump Loses; 15% Willing To ‘Take Action’ To Overturn Results: Report - Thenewsglobe.net

50% won't accept Trump loss and 15% of Republicans are will to take action.

25% of dems won't accept results but only 1% willing to take action.

Is this surprising? Is this the path you saw the parties taking?

Against My Better Judgment...

I think Nicea 2 is an accretion in the Chruch. The scholarship is unanimous that icon veneration did not exist before the sixth century.

What would I need to change my view on this? I have thought about it. What would get me to reconsider is I would need this:
1) It would have to be in the third century or before.
2) It would have to be from three ECF (who are considered orthodox Christians, not Gnostic sources).
3) It would have to be directly affirming Icon Veneration as described in Nicea 2. That would mean it would include bowing down to, kissing, or praying through the icon as a window into heaven.

I am NOT interested in the catacombs. I am NOT concerned with Christian art which may serve certain purposes other than Icon Veneration.

Help me understand, were Jesus's words uncreated, in the same way as the uncreated light?

If the uncreated light of the transfiguration was uncreated, then how about the words that Jesus spoke? The only difference between sound and light is the speed at which they travel according to physics; How should I understand this from a EO view and how would non-EO explain this such as Roman Catholics. thanks

Kamala Harris Runs To CNN, Demands Second Debate After Ducking Fox News Event

Trump has pushed back on the idea of agreeing to another debate with CNN, pointing to the fact that Harris ducked a September event that was set to be hosted by Fox News. The Trump Campaign pointed to the fact that they agreed to a debate with a left-leaning, anti-Trump network in calling for Harris to reciprocate, though she ultimately decided to skip the September 10 debate.
She only can look good with people propping her up, like Oprah did.

"Trans" Woman as a Nurse?

On Friday, my regular nurse came to give me my shot. He comes every two weeks to administer a shot to me for my mental illness. Most of the time it is him. Sometimes it is someone else. He had someone shadowing him on Friday. A woman, or so I thought. The woman looked very masculine. I can't prove it was actually a man though. Just had man-like hands, was very tall, and had a kind of fake femininity which I found really creepy.

The question would be if I should actually do something about it at this point. I don't think I should. I think I should wait until I get this same person to give my shot again (or perhaps this person will be the new person to give me my shot). The nurse I currently have is fine. I don't think he is a Christian. I have talked about my faith with him quite a bit. Obviously, he knows I am a Christian. He knows I like apologetics. He knows I like Christian Metal (which he actually thinks is pretty cool since he likes bands like Tool which is a band I used to really like but have since stopped listening to almost entirely because of my conviction against it). The nurse I currently have is changing positions a bit. He said he will still be in the field some, but he has this new role of training nurses and doing more administrative stuff. I am thinking that if this "trans" woman gives me my shot again, I should tell the company that having this person give me my shot makes me feel uncomfortable.

What are your thoughts on this?

Missing the earlier years

Lord, I know I'm in a world where there are others that watch and track. That they scrutinize my mannerisms, how i speak and make relations. That it's filled with the labeling from others. I know I can't please everyone as judgement exists from both ends. You know I miss the times when such things wasn't as prevalent and as hyper. We must all help one another but I cannot deal with those that judge so negatively on every small thing.

Settling down in a place where it isn't rather hostile-minded is best. To be in a place satan hasn't quite done a number on would be amazing because I sense it all around me.

Unfortunately, it is this way but I'm asking you to just place your hand over the heated and just the overall general negativity and to just ease the tension in this world that's currently ruled by the bearer of artificial light. In Jesus' Name, I pray,

AMEN

Gun ownership on the rise among liberals according to a new report

The Wall Street Journal reported this week that more and more liberals are buying guns, calling it a "surprising" trend among a group of voters that typically support restrictions.

For a piece published Thursday, the outlet looked at new gun ownership data and spoke to experts and several Democratic gun owners to understand what’s behind this trend.

The piece opened with the example of lifelong Democrat and gun restriction supporter Michael Ciemnoczolowski, who recently bought his first firearm.

Ciemnoczolowski, a liquor store clerk in Iowa City, Iowa told the journal that he bought the weapon because he’s worried about "street crime, armed right-wing extremists" and voiced his fear of U.S. politics getting worse.

"Domestic politics have grown increasingly acrimonious," he told the media outlet.

Sounds like code for gearing up for a civil war. Some of them are already trying to gun down the opposing party.

The Biden administration is funding the production of a play in the Eastern European country of North Macedonia that features a man dying of AIDS who has prophetic visions of an angel described as having "eight vaginas."

In September, the U.S. State Department approved funding to the Association For Affirmation Of Theatre Presvrt Skopje for the production of Tony Kushner's two-part play "Angels in America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes" in North Macedonia. The play had its Broadway debut on May 4, 1993.

According to federal grant records, the department's plan also includes "conducting open talks to raise awareness about HIV stigma and LGBTQ+ issues" in the Eastern European country. The department is obligated to spend $20,000 on staging the play and has directed $10,500 in non-federal funding toward the production, resulting in a total funding of $30,500.

A judge is killed, the sheriff charged — and a small town in Kentucky is shaken to its core

A small, tight-knit southeast Kentucky community has been reeling after their sheriff was arrested for the killing of a prominent district judge in his chambers Thursday – spurring residents to wonder what could have triggered the shooting and prompting calls for better courthouse security.

Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. Stines, 43 - a man whose role made him responsible for judges’ personal security - gunned down District Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, at the Letcher County courthouse in Whitesburg, according to Kentucky State Police.

Stines turned himself in after the shooting and was arrested at the scene without incident, authorities said. He is now facing a first-degree murder charge, state police said.

Kamala Harris’ Dangerous New Lie May End Up Costing Women’s Lives

In reality, abortion pills are what led to the deaths of these women and their children in Georgia.

So, I finally found a church. How it's going so far

OK, so after years of being a nonbeliever and more years of being lukewarm, I found a church in my state to attend. See, before July 2024, I didn't own a Bible, I had no Christian friends, and while I did watch some Christian content, I did not attend a church. Even now, I struggle with sins like lust (which is made worse by my romantic loneliness), profanity, and laziness. That's why for my 27th birthday, I got a New International Version translation of the Bible.

Next on the list was finding a church. I looked for some in my city, and I found one. It's non-denominational, but one of its pastors is an ordained minister of Assemblies of God. It's an egalitarian church, meaning one of the pastors (that I know of) is female. I visited the church with my mother on September 1st, 2024 (I visit her sometimes), to attend a Sunday service and vet it. So far, so good. We had worship songs, and the sermon in question was about transition--of how God can move us into new chapters of our life, and throughout the journey, can mold us. One of the pastors, he bought up Joseph, Jacob's son and Abraham's great-grandson. I'm familiar with Joseph's story, and how God allowed him to spend 12-13 years working in a different country and culture as a slave, or rotting in prison. Despite this, he became the second-in command of all of Egypt and saved them and his family from dying in a famine. We finished service by greeting any newcomers, and another worship song.

As for the church itself, both the clergy and the churchgoers are multiracial. Some black, some white, the pastor giving the above sermon was Indian. Their beliefs are as follows:

"We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

We believe that sin separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the “new birth”, we must repent of our sins and place our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe that in order to live the life that God intends for us, we need to be baptized in water and be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts.

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together for fellowship, prayer and holy communion.

We believe that Jesus, the same yesterday today and forever still heals, performs miracles and is actively involved in the life of the believer.

We believe that our eternal destination of either eternal union with God or eternal separation from God is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

We believe marriage is a gift from God that is designed for one man and one woman. Sexuality should only be expressed in the context of that marriage covenant."

So all of their doctrine is sound, and I signed up for their next scheduled water baptism (which is on October 20th) on their app. Tomorrow (September 22nd, 2024), they're having a luncheon, the intention of which is to help newcomers get to know each other and the church. I'll be attending. On a related note, I've also been bonding with a staff member at my workplace. Her name is Debra, and I cracked some Bible jokes about her name, and for the past few months, I had been sent to where she works. I work at a clinic, and I was sent to a center on-site that specializes in MRIs, physical therapy, and brain health.

I found out that she and her husband are both Christians, so apart from finding a church, I found a Godly woman who I can talk to. She gave me a card thanking me for all that I do, and said that she deeply appreciates me and likes the Biblical conversations we have.

An example of the Biden/Harris real threat to Democracy

Having determined that Missouri (and therefore the rest of the states) had a right to challenge the debt-relief program, the court then turned to the heart of the case – whether the debt-relief program complies with federal law. Here the court agreed with the challengers that it did not. The HEROES Act, Roberts emphasized, gives the secretary of education the power to “waive or modify” laws and regulations governing the student-loan programs. Congress’s use of the word “modify” means that the Biden administration can make “modest adjustments and additions to existing provisions,” Roberts wrote, “not transform them.”
But the debt-relief program, Roberts stressed, instead “created a novel and fundamentally different loan forgiveness program.” The plan “modifies” student-loan laws and regulations, Roberts suggested, “only in the same sense that the French Revolution ‘modified’ the status of the French nobility — it has abolished them and supplanted them with a new regime entirely.”
The Supreme court has ruled the Biden/Harris debt forgiveness is NOT constitutional back in June of 2023

Yet Biden/Harris continue to take the issue to court after court - being denied every time. Is the Executive Branch following the ruling of the Supreme Court as dictated by the Constitution?

Absolutely not - in defiance of the Court - they continue the effort to buy votes.

Court rules nearly 98,000 Arizonans whose citizenship hadn't been confirmed can vote the full ballot

You Can Support Israel and not be a Dispensationalist.

It annoys me to no end the misconceptions there are about supporting Israel.

I believe supporting Israel is what the Bible says. There are countless verses that talk about this.

I consider myself a Historic Pre-Millenialist. I do not believe there are seven dispensations. However, the Bible is clear that God loves the Jewish people. And the Church did not just replace Israel. It says in the Bible that God would regather Israel. That is why when Israel was recognized as its own nation it was such a big deal. It was literally prophecy coming true before our eyes.

I had a person recently tell me that I could not think that the Jews are God's chosen people and not be a dispensationalist. The problem with this view is that throughout the Church, many people have held this view before Dispensationalism was ever brought up. Even people like Christostom who said some of the most anti-semitic things in Church history believe there remained a plan for God to save all of Israel. It is only this new Covenant theology that tries to cut Israel out from His plans.

For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the COMMANDMENTS of God

What commandments of God?

Moses commanded in De 10:

16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn.
Moses distinguished between physical and spiritual circumcisions.

Paul wrote in 1Co 7:

19 For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God.
Circumcision and uncircumcision did not count for anything. Keeping the commandments of God counted.

What commandments? Wasn't circumcision a commandment of God?

Circumcision was a ritualistic external code. Paul wanted to focus on the inner being of the heart.

He expounded in (BSB) Ro 2:

25 Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
I.e. Moses Law

26 If a man who is not circumcised keeps the requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?
Yes, he was circumcised in the heart (De 10:16). Paul focused on the spiritual inner being.

27 The one who is physically uncircumcised yet keeps the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker.
Spiritual circumcision was more important than physical circumcision.

28 A man is not a Jew because he is one outwardly, nor is circumcision only outward and physical. 29 No, a man is a Jew because he is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise does not come from men, but from God.
Paul contrasted the external code vs the internal heart: outward observance vs inward transformation. The Holy Spirit circumcised and dwelled in a believer's heart. It came directly from God and not from the written code.

Jr 31:

33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
This is the NT covenant reality. When we are born again, the Spirit/Paraclete dwells in our hearts. We are God's. The Paraclete guides us to walk in the Spirit.

What commandments was Paul talking about in 1Co 7:19?

Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but keeping the commandments of God written in my heart as the Paraclete guides me is what counts.

Why Are Babies Most Cradled on the Left Side?

Thinking back to when my children were babies, I remember carrying each on my left side. Being right-handed, it seemed to make sense to hold a baby on the left so my right hand was free to do other things. My husband, however, who is left-handed, said he carried our children on the left side because it was his dominant hand.

Apparently (no pun intended), we aren't the only couple who prefers to carry our young on the left hand side. In fact, according to psychiatrist, philosopher and neuroscientist Iain McGilchrist, this preferred pattern has been around for millennia.

In his deeply insightful 2009 book, The Master and His Emissary, McGilchrist reports that "[t]he right hemisphere's affinity for both the perception and expression of emotion appears to be confirmed by the strong universal tendency to cradle infants with their faces to the left, so that they fall within the principal domain of attention of the adult's right hemisphere, and they are exposed to the adults own more emotionally expressive left hemiface." In other words, the right hemisphere of the brain is more focused on emotions and relationships, so therefore the left hand side, which wires to the right hemisphere, has an easier time of engaging with emotional triggers, like a baby. McGilchrist adds that "even left handed mothers display the leftward cradling bias."

Eternal Life or Right Here and Now?

So often the emphasis seems to be on Heaven or Hell, saved or unsaved, end times, etc.

I am more concerned about today, here and now. I need Christ, his strength and courage to deal with every day challenges of aging. This is where I encounter Christ, here and now. Each challenge brings me closer.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

AOG, Most Popular? No, just the "greatest"

By impatient fruits, people ask me all the time, 'Why do you still uphold the Assembly of God denomination?' Well, where else are you going to find these raw gems straight from the will of God, by which we godly "covet"?

"But covet earnestly the best gifts, , but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, , " (1 Cor 12:31, 14:5).

It is by their spiritual vacuum the opposition still wishes to diminish these by "a more excellent way." even though He said 'don't' (1 Cor 14:39).

No! not only is the resulting "excellence" incorporated with that godly "covet", it is ALL SEALED IN THE WILL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS (1 Cor 2:2)!

So as it is written, while the gifts may "cease" and at times prophesies may "fail", they are NEVER to be disposed of, thank God!

Accountability

Just a thought...

I wonder if a space was created on the forum for folks to dialogue who don't use pseudonyms as a cover, so that those who participate are then accountable for their posts.

As it stands members make all sorts of inappropriate posts with no risk of their personal reputation being harmed as they hide behind their anonymity.
