  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Complicated grief

I got a voicemail from my dad's barber today and the barber was wondering why he hadn't heard from my dad in awhile, so I called the barber shop. The barber wasn't there, but the person who picked up said that she would relay the message (that I gave her). I got a bit teary-eyed from having to tell the receptionist about my dad's passing, but this is complicated. I'm grieving over someone, who, if they were with me right now, would be "fighting" with me over the same things all the time (or maybe we would be "fighting" together). How is it that I can still be crying, or at least feel like crying?

Going to a formation course

Hi, I'm not trying to be negative but I'm going to a formation course tonight that goes from 6 to 8:30 pm. I don't exactly have the greatest excitement going there because I have had a hard time liking their fellowship events, but if I know a couple faces there, that may mitigate the problem. This supposedly goes on for 7 weeks (including this week) and I already want out. I know I complain about loneliness but these kinds of events don't necessarily solve the problem. Once again, trying not to be negative.

It might be a better course than the one I tried last week, whose parish is even less welcoming than this one.

9th Circuit court rules Trump can deploy National Guard to Portland

“After considering the record at this preliminary stage, we conclude that it is likely that the President lawfully exercised his statutory authority under 10 U.S.C. § 12406(3), which authorizes the federalization of the National Guard when ‘the President is unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States,’” the majority said.

The citizens of Portland need the intervention of the federal government. The law needs to be upheld.

Prayers

I have MS but have been doing well for years, or so I thought. I stopped seeing my neurologist a few years ago because I felt fine, except for some symptoms I didn’t know could be MS related. Now I think that maybe they are. Among other things, I’ve had two episodes in the past month where 1) I couldn’t get up off the floor from putting my socks on and hubby had to help me up. My legs wouldn’t support me, and 2) another one where I couldn’t get out of bed….arms were too weak and couldnt roll over and sit up. I have an appointment with a Neurology NP later this week. It’s kind of early in the day, at a time I’m usually not up yet and I’m anxious I’ll have a panic attack and anxious about what the NP is going to say or do to me. Please pray for me that this is all MS related and not something even worse and please pray I get through the appointment without freaking out. Thanks in advance.

Your Pledge of Allegiance

I am reading in Revelation 13. It is a very long passage of Scripture, so I will only be able to quote parts of it. I would recommend, if you have not already, that you read it in its entirety, for it really speaks of the times in which we are living, and where things are headed in my nation (USA), and in the world, now and in the future.

It begins by speaking of a dragon, which represents Satan. Then it speaks of a beast to whom the dragon (Satan) gives his power and his throne and his great authority. The world then worships the dragon and the beast.

I believe the beast represents a king or a singular governing authority which holds supreme and unrestricted power over the world, and which rules his kingdom by absolute monarchy, which is a One World Order. So this is a one world governing tyrannical authority which could be headed by just one man, but is supported by those who swear their allegiance (fidelity) and support to this tyrannical government, as well as it is supported by the wealthy and powerful ruling class of the world who are behind him. And there is no constitution or elected body to limit the monarch’s power.

The citizens of this absolute monarchy, who give their undying support and loyalty and devotion to “the king,” are those who vow to defend its institution and who vow to not conspire to overthrow the government. They are loyal subjects of the government who give their full support to whatever actions are taken by “the king” (the supreme ruler). But should we obey our governing authorities? Yes, but not without question, and not if they are asking us to give our loyalty and devotion and support to them in whatever they do, and/or if they are asking us to sin against God in any other form.

This beastly tyrannical absolute monarchy is also supported by the wealthy and powerful ruling class of the world. They have been called “the shadow government,” who I believe have largely now come out of the shadows, many of whom are blatantly making decisions for the people of the world over which we have no say, much (or all) of which is not for the good of the people but for the advancement of the wealthy and the powerful elite of the world. More and more they are gaining control over our lives and over our destiny while they plot their evil schemes against the citizens of the world.

“It was also given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. If anyone has an ear, let him hear. If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.” (Revelation 13:7-10 NASB1995)

So, how is this “beast” presently making war with the saints (God’s holy people who are living different from the world because being conformed by God to the likeness of character of Jesus Christ)? Well, depending on where you live in the world will depend upon how Christians are being treated. Here in the USA Christians, so far, have not been persecuted in the ways in which Christians are being persecuted in other nations. Our persecution presently is more geared towards those of us who teach biblical repentance and obedience to God as requirements by God as part of faith in Jesus Christ.

We are being charged with being “negative” and “judgmental” and of teaching “works salvation” or “lordship salvation” as a means of us trying to work our way into heaven. Now are there people doing that? Yes. They are the legalists who add fleshly works and traditions onto the gospel. But if we are teaching the words of Jesus and the words taught by the apostles, in the correct biblical context, we are not in error. And they taught that by faith in Jesus Christ it means that we die to sin and we now obey our Lord, in practice, or we don’t have salvation and eternal life with God.

[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 2:5-10; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-24; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 3:1-19; Hebrews 4:1-13; Hebrews 10:19-39; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:1-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10; Revelation 2:1-29; Revelation 3:1-22]

But the majority here in the USA, anyway, appear to all be teaching a cheapened form of the gospel, which is a half-truth gospel, which only requires a verbal confession of Christ as Lord and Savior, and of his death and resurrection. Repentance may be mentioned, but often in the context of a mere verbal confession of sin, no change required. And biblical repentance and obedience to God may be taught (or not), but usually as more of a recommendation, but not as required of God for salvation from sin and for eternal life with God. And Satan is against the truth, but he’s for the lies.

Why? Because if Satan can get you to believe that God makes no requirements of you other than a verbal profession of Jesus as Lord, et al, then he has you right where he wants you. And if heads of “church” congregations, and if heads of governments can get you to believe Satan’s lies so that you do not die to sin, and so that you do not obey God, in practice, because you believe you don’t have to, they have you right where they want you, too. For they are prepping you to receive the mark of the beast, because your allegiance is really to them, and not to God.

Will you pledge your undying loyalty and devotion to a human government and to a human ruler or “king”? Or to your pastor or to some celebrity preacher and teacher of the Scriptures? Will you heed their words and follow them unquestionably, assuming that because of who they are, that they are telling you the truth? Or will you pledge (vow) your allegiance (fidelity) to God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit – and to him alone? Will you seek out his teachings and obey them above all else? And will you test what other humans say against the correct biblical context to see if it is true?

“Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.” We must be spiritually discerning people who do not become followers of other humans and who do not pledge our absolute loyalty and devotion to any person or to any government or to any institution of human origin, or we might be taken captive by the lies of Satan and end up not truly saved from our sins, and not truly those who will inherit eternal life with God. So please know what Jesus and his apostles taught, in context, for they taught we must die to sin and obey God or we do not have salvation from sin and eternal life with God.

And will work all for good.

You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding

Supreme Court will consider whether people who regularly smoke pot can legally own guns

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court said on Monday that it will consider whether people who regularly smoke marijuana can legally own guns, the latest firearm case to come before the court since its 2022 decision expanding gun rights.

President Donald Trump’s administration asked the justices to revive a case against a Texas man charged with a felony because he allegedly had a gun in his home and acknowledged being a regular pot user. The Justice Department appealed after a lower court largely struck down a law that bars people who use any illegal drugs from having guns.

Arguments probably will take place early in 2026, with a decision likely by early summer.

Secular Student Alliance takes aim at Christian 'privilege,' partners with Satanic Temple

Is Christianity privileged in the public square?

That’s the assertion of the Secular Student Alliance, the nation’s largest organization representing what it calls “secular and nonreligious students,” which last Wednesday announced recipients of its 2025 Secular Activist Scholarship, recognizing campus and community student activists who are “pursuing excellence in their academic studies.”

Spotlighting young leaders challenging what the group describes as “Christian privilege” in educational settings, SSA’s scholarship is aimed at advancing “secular values,” but not necessarily at the expense of promoting atheism or any other worldview, according to SSA Executive Director Kevin Bolling.

“Secular values mean supporting a civic culture grounded in reason, evidence, equality, and freedom of conscience,” Bolling told The Christian Post last Thursday.

White House begins demolishing East Wing facade to build Trump’s ballroom

Demolition crews have begun tearing down part of the White House to build President Donald Trump’s long-desired ballroom despite his pledge that construction of the $250 million addition wouldn’t “interfere” with the existing building.

Construction teams Monday were demolishing a portion of the East Wing, with a backhoe ripping through the structure, according to a photo shared with The Washington Post and two people who witnessed the activity and spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe it.

“It won’t interfere with the current building. It won’t be. It’ll be near it but not touching it — and pays total respect to the existing building, which I’m the biggest fan of," Trump said during an executive order signing in July.

So i went to the er yesterday.

So yesterday I had some pretty bad chest pain on the way to get our errands done I wasn't sure what to do about the chest pain because it kept coming back I immediately called my mother who was a nurse and told her I was coming over and having her check me out and see I'd I needed to go to the hospital and she said "ok do you have a blood pressure cuff?" And I said "no mom I don't have one that will fit my arm." So she said "ok. Are you sweaty?" And my wife looked me over and said "not really" and mom said "ok describe the pain." And I said "it's like a squeezing pain and now my left arm hurts" and mom said "go to the emergency room don't come here keep me updated." So my wife drove me to the hospital luckily we weren't that far in town yet and got there within like 3 minutes.

When we got to the hospital they got me in immediately hooked me up to an ekg and the doctor asked me a whole bunch of questions, the ekg came back normal and the doctor asked me why I was on a blood thinner and I told her it my clot history and I told her about how a dentist had recently on Wednesday done dental surgery and held back my eliquis for a day with my doctors permission and she said "well that was risky you might have a clot we will check your blood and check for one." So they ran a blood test and long story short my dtimer test was 236 and normal is 230 so they attempt to put am iv in me for the CT scan to check for a clot and they can't get an iv in and they send for another doctor the other doctor comes in and asks me if I want to get the CT scan because if I do have a blood clot it's a very small one. Eventually as the doctor was talking to me they decided for me not to get the test because even if I had the small clot they would treat it with my eliquis anyway so they sent me home.

Anyway I tell you all of this because on my way back home from the hospital the chest pain came back and I was telling myself "okay so this is definitely a clot. But she just told me that if it's a clot the eliquis would treat it and to take it easy for a few days but if the chest pain gets worse to go back this is the same level of pain."

Anyway, I'm saying all of this because I want prayers. There's a chance that this clot could travel through my pfo to my brain I forgot to tell the er doctors about that yesterday. I don't want to go back to the er just to tell them that one detail so I'm not going back unless . Besides it's only a really small risk because I'm on my blood thinners again and have been since Wednesday night I'm just on edge and cautious. Plus I kind of wanted prayers that this clot would just naturally dissolve and pass through like the last three did. I'm a little scared and almost wish I had pushed for that CT scan last night but my wife had to go to bed for work and I trusted the doctor. I... cant believe that one detail had slipped my mind it was a very important detail to tell them... especially when 3 years ago aside from God's miraculous interference I would have needed open heart surgery because of that detail and it almost killed me.

Is President Trump Corrupt? Three Stories.

Is President Trump Corrupt? Take a look at these three stories.

Trump says Qatari jet could be ready for use as Air Force One in 6 months.

Experts are deeply skeptical

https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/10/politics/qatar-jet-trump-air-force

Then, following that incredible story, an even more unprecedented development.

The Trump-approved Qatari base in Idaho should raise major security concerns

To sum up the first story, the Qatari jet to be used as AF1 is possibly worth $400 million, and is a personal gift to Trump. It will cost the taxpayers a billion dollars.

In the second story, Trump issues an “executive order” “Assuring the Security of the State of Qatar.” The order far exceeds Presidential power, it should require approval by the Senate as a major treaty. During the entire Israel/Hamas war, or Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, the leaders of Hamas were living in luxury in Qatar. Trump’s order puts Qatar “on par with our NATO allies.” Then came the incredible news that Qatar will be allowed to build, or take possession of, a military base in Idaho. Huh?

The USA, and the American people get nothing out of this, but it gets worse. “Back in April, a Trump-owned company struck a deal to open a vast golf resort in Qatar.”

The third story is from the Associated Press.

Trump company strikes Qatari golf resort deal in a sign it’s not holding back from foreign business

Trump company strikes Qatari golf resort deal in a sign it's not holding back from foreign business

To sum up, the Emir of Qatar has given Donald Trump a golf resort deal and then a jumbo jet. In return, Qatar gets a security status comparable to a NATO ally and even gets a military base in Idaho. Congress needs to say NO to all of the above. It is obvious that Donald Trump has sold out America to its foreign enemies.

Mississippi DA calls out gender bias as female youth pastor gets house arrest for child sexual abuse

District Attorney for DeSoto County in Mississippi Matthew Barton has called for the resignation of a local school official and slammed what he sees as gender bias after Lindsey Whiteside, a former youth minister with Getwell Church in Hernando, Mississippi, was sentenced to just three years of house arrest and seven years of additional probation after she pleaded guilty to child sexual abuse.

"We, as the state of Mississippi and on behalf of the victim, requested the maximum sentence, which is 30 years, and I don't mind just saying it frankly — I'm extremely disappointed," Barton said during a press conference last Monday, calling the sentence "an absolute abomination of justice."

Court documents cited by Action News 5allege that Whiteside, now 27, knowingly had sex with an underage girl under her guardianship between May 14 and Nov. 6, 2024.

IDF strikes ‘dozens’ of Hamas targets in response to attack that killed 2 Israeli soldiers in Rafah

Israel Defense Forces launched a strong response to an earlier Hamas attack that violated the ceasefire on Sunday, killing two Israeli soldiers and wounding three others.

On Sunday evening, the IDF announced that Major Yaniv Kula (26) and Staff Sgt. Itay Yavetz (21) was both killed in the attack. They both served in the Nahal Brigade’s 932nd Battalion and hailed from the city of Modi'in.

According to the investigation, which took place on Sunday morning in the city of Rafah, several terrorists emerged from a tunnel to fire RPGs at an excavator, killing two.

About Jesus being the only way?

Just heard this argument, and listened to this argument again, and I will say that I think all roads lead to judgement, so if your thinking that they all lead to God, then you might be correct, but maybe just not the way you think maybe.

I would also say that for me, or as for "me and my house", as the Bible puts it, I don't think there is any way for me to be saved apart from Jesus Christ, and maybe for the simple fact that I know I'm not perfect, and that I think that God's standard apart from Jesus Christ in the judgement is going to be 100% absolute guiltlessness, or perfection probably. So, if you don't at some point in your life come to some kind of (faith) belief in Jesus Christ in your life sometime before you die, or before you stand in judgement, then I don't think your chances are very good of getting into heaven, or being saved probably, etc.

And as for me, no one else died for me, or even thought it was necessary, etc. Not Mohammad, not Buddha, or Confucious, or any other man/woman/person of God (or supposedly of God) none of them even thought about the fact of maybe having to die for me, etc.

And the fact that only one person did, or thought it was 100% necessary, and thought there was no other way, should maybe be trying to tell you/me/all of us something maybe?

As for me, I think it's the one and only way I'm getting in probably, or even stand a chance at getting in or being saved probably, etc.

And the rest of you can think/act/decide for yourselves maybe, since every single person has to answer that/decide that for themselves probably, etc.

Anyway, God Bless.

If you're interested to know how that judgement for either you, me, or anyone might happen or go maybe, then this post (below) maybe could prove somewhat useful maybe (or maybe not maybe). It's probably different for someone who believes in Jesus Christ then maybe someone who does not have some kind of belief in Jesus Christ probably, etc. Any kind of mercy at all probably only comes through/by Jesus Christ probably, etc.

God Bless.

David's Confession of Sin

“For the choir director. A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.
“Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness;
According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity
And cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions,
And my sin is ever before me.
Against You, You only, I have sinned
And done what is evil in Your sight,
So that You are justified when You speak
And blameless when You judge.” (Psalm 51:1-4 NASB1995)

King David was a man of God, a man who served God with his life, but he was still a man. He was still human. And one evening, from the roof of his house, he saw a woman bathing, and he lusted after her, and he had her brought to him, and he had sex with her. Her name was Bathsheba. Then she became pregnant. And rather than him doing the right and honorable thing by confessing his wrongdoing, he tried to cover up his sin by attempting to get her husband to go have relations with her so that it would be assumed that her husband was the one who had impregnated her.

When that failed, David then arranged for her husband Uriah to be killed in battle, and that was accomplished. When Bathsheba learned that her husband had died, she mourned his death. But when her time of mourning was over, David sent for her and brought her to his house, and she became his wife, and she bore him a son. But the thing that David had done was evil in the sight of the Lord (see 2 Samuel 11:1-27).

Then the Lord sent Nathan to David, and Nathan told him a parable which described in an illustrative form what David had done to Bathsheba and to Uriah without Nathan having to directly confront David with his wrongdoing. When David burned with anger against the man in the parable, saying that man deserves to die, then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!” And then he let David know what God said about what he had done. And God said, “Why have you despised the word of the Lord by doing evil in His sight?” And God let him know what would be his punishment for his sin.

Then David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” God then forgave him his sin, and he did not kill David, but David suffered the death of his son whom he had had with Bathsheba. And he suffered other consequences, as well, for the evil he had done (see 2 Samuel 12:1-25).

Then we have recorded for us in Psalm 51 David’s confession of sin against the Lord, which was also a sin against Bathsheba and against her husband Uriah, and against others in the process, too. But his greatest sin, he felt, was against God. For he recognized that what he had done was evil in the sight of God.

“Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,
And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness,
Let the bones which You have broken rejoice.
Hide Your face from my sins
And blot out all my iniquities.” (Psalm 51:5-9 NASB1995)

David’s confession of sin was not superficial. He was not just mouthing words of repentance while his heart did not change. He was not just admitting to have sinned, so that he would get forgiveness, but he was truly desirous to have God do in his life whatever needed to be done to keep him from ever going back to sinning against God and against other humans ever again. He was so determined in his repentance, in fact, that he asked for the Lord to not only forgive his sins, but to purify his heart of all sin, to remove such sins from him so that he would never commit them again.

And basically what he was praying to God is what the gospel of our salvation is all about. It is not about Jesus putting our sins to death with him on that cross merely to forgive us our sins, but to cleanse us from our sins, to purify our hearts, and to deliver us out of our slavery (addiction) to sin so that we will now follow our Lord in obedience to his commands in holy living. He put our sins to death with him on that cross in order to change us, to transform us, and to lead us in the ways of righteousness and holiness and so that our lives will now be surrendered to doing his will and no longer us living in sin.

In Him there is no darkness.
He is in the light of truth.
If we walk in His light,
From sin He purifies.

If we repent of our sins,
He’ll forgive us now,
When we humble ourselves, and
Before Jesus bow.
The man who says, “I know Him,”
But does not obey His truth,
There is no truth in him.
In darkness still he’s found.

Do not love the world of sin,
For it is hell bound.
If you follow the world, you’ll
Not in Christ be found.
The world and its desires
Will not last; they’ll expire.
The one who does God’s will,
Receives eternal life.

See that what you have heard from
Christ remains in you.
Then, you’ll remain in Christ, and
In His Father, too.
This is what He promised us –
His eternal life with God.
So, continue in Him, and
You’ll receive a crown.

The Economist: Trump's approval rating crashes!

The way some here talk about Trump - I wonder if they know what they're in for in the mid-terms?

Americans are not just disappointed with how he has handled bread-and-butter issues such as inflation and the economy. They also don’t like his approach to issues that were central to his appeal, like immigration and crime. Despite that, he continues to aggressively push unpopular policies. On this page The Economist is tracking Americans’ opinions week by week, throughout the presidency.

Mr Trump was re-elected on a wave of economic pessimism, telling voters that “incomes will skyrocket, inflation will vanish completely, jobs will come roaring back and the middle class will prosper like never, ever before” during his second term. So far they have been disappointed. Ratings of his handling of the economy and inflation were net positive shortly after his inauguration. They have since fallen to strongly negative in the wake of his declarations of trade war and the ensuing response of investors. YouGov’s data also suggest Americans now disapprove of his handling of immigration, another issue central to his re-election.

...But the projection also shows how dissatisfaction with Mr Trump is widespread even in states that voted for him just a few months ago. The numbers will make anxious reading for Republicans facing competitive races in next year’s midterm elections.

Rest in The Lord

“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.
Cease from anger and forsake wrath;
Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.
For evildoers will be cut off,
But those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the land.
Yet a little while and the wicked man will be no more;
And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there.” (Psalm 37:7-10 NASB1995)

In the day and time in which we live, and I live in the USA, wicked people who are plotting and carrying out wicked schemes seem to be massive in numbers. And they are in our governments, in our news media, in our educational systems, in the institutional market-driven “churches,” in the world of medicine, in pastorates, in businesses, in social media, in the music industry (including in some “Christian” music), in the entertainment industry, in advertising and marketing, and in lots of other places, too.

Sadly these wicked people and their wicked schemes have worked their way into many of the presentations of the gospel of Christ and of our salvation. And what they have done is to divide the gospel message, to cut it in half, basically, and to discard the half they don’t like while they retain the half that they do like. But a deliberate half-truth is a lie. Scriptures being removed from their biblical context are being made to say what they do not say if taught in the correct biblical context. And this is mostly deliberate.

And those who have created and carried out these divisions of truth are predatory people who inject venom (poison, lies, deceptions) into their prey for the full purpose to turn them away from the truth to follow after the lies. So, they pull Scriptures out of their correct biblical context, and they twist them to say what they do not teach, if taught in context, and sometimes they will use a succession of Scriptures, out of context, to teach a false gospel. And many naïve people are believing and are spreading the lies.

What many of these liars are teaching is that all we have to do is to make a verbal confession of faith in Jesus Christ, of him as Lord, and of faith in his bodily resurrection, and now we are saved from all sins, and heaven is now guaranteed us as our final resting place. But they do this through teaching the Scriptures out of context and by ignoring the half that they don’t want to accept. And many people are buying into the lies (half-truths) because then they can continue in their sinful practices without feeling guilty.

But Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

For by God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

And we learn in 1 John 1-3 that if we claim that we have fellowship with God, but yet we walk in darkness (sin), we are liars. If we claim that we know God, but we do not obey his commandments, in practice, we are liars. For it is not the one who claims he is “in Christ” who is “in Christ,” but it is the one who has denied self, died with Christ to sin, and who is now walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in practice, and no longer in sin. We have the hope and the promise of eternal life with God in heaven.

[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 2:5-10; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-24; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 3:1-19; Hebrews 4:1-13; Hebrews 10:19-39; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:1-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10; Revelation 2:1-29; Revelation 3:1-22]

But these biblical truths are largely being ignored in favor of the half-truth “gospels” which are spreading so rapidly in our time. And even some people who claim to have rejected the lies and to have embraced the truth of the gospel are not now showing evidence of having had heart transformations and of having died with Christ to sin, and of now walking in obedience to his commands. They may put on a show of righteousness, but they are still living wicked and evil lives in addiction to sin; not in obedience to God.

But, although we should be speaking the truth of the gospel of Christ to the people, and we should be refuting the lies of the enemy, we should not fear what these evil people are doing or what they might do to us. We should be watchful and prayerful so that we do not get caught in their webs of deceit. But we have no power within ourselves to stop the evil from taking place. And so we wait on God, for him to act, and we trust the Lord with our lives, and we put our circumstances in his hands, and we trust in his sovereignty.

As the Deer

By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You
