  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Craig Morgan says his faith is 'non-negotiable,' praises 'resurgence of American pride’

Craig Morgan has never been one to shy away from his beliefs; whether in his music, his military service or his everyday interactions with fans, the country music star has been vocal about his faith and patriotism for decades.

In 2025, following the release of his latest EP, American Soundtrack, the “What I Love about Sundays” artist said he's seen a shift happening in the country, one that excites and reassures him.

“There’s a resurgence in pride in our country that we’ve not seen in — I don’t know — I’d say about four years or so,” the 60-year-old artist told The Christian Post.

White House Weighs Helping Farmers as Trump Escalates Trade War

Ahead of President Trump’s plan to impose sweeping tariffs across the globe this week, his administration is weighing a new round of emergency aid to farmers, who are likely to be caught in the middle if America’s trading partners retaliate.
The early discussions offer a tacit acknowledgment that Mr. Trump’s expansive tariffs could unleash financial devastation throughout the U.S. agricultural industry, a crucial voting base that the president similarly tried to safeguard during his 2018 trade war with China.
While the president has not announced any details of an aid package, his advisers have signaled in recent days that he could follow a playbook similar to the one he used in his first term, when he directed billions in payments to farmers who saw their exports to China plummet amid a trade war with Beijing. NYT

It's "Déjà vu all over again" or, what's the definition of insanity again? Problem is, it's just not the farmers this go around who will feel the effects of retaliatory tariffs. I live in Seattle, and north of me there's this place called Point Roberts who depend on Canadian customers. Darn near every business there is or will go under.

Spider Web Construction

There is a fairly large spider web spanning the gap from our patio roof to a fence and garden nearby. I haven't measured it but I would guesstimate it's about 3 metres at the widest point including the anchoring strands.

I haven't got the heart to take it down and it is not in our way being above our heads for the most part.

As I stood looking at it I wondered how the spider managed to reach the guttering on the patio to hold one end of a long thead. So I went looking for an explanation.

Wikipedia had the following - Spider web - Wikipedia

Many webs span gaps between objects which the spider could not cross by crawling. This is done by first producing a fine adhesive thread to drift on a faint breeze across a gap. When it sticks to a surface at the far end, the spider feels the change in the vibration. The spider reels in and tightens the first strand, then carefully walks along it and strengthens it with a second thread. This process is repeated until the thread is strong enough to support the rest of the web.[14]

After strengthening the first thread, the spider continues to make a Y-shaped netting. The first three radials of the web are now constructed. More radials are added, making sure that the distance between each radial and the next is small enough to cross. This means that the number of radials in a web directly depends on the size of the spider plus the size of the web. It is common for a web to be about 20 times the size of the spider building it.[15]

After the radials are complete, the spider fortifies the center of the web with about five circular threads. It makes a spiral of non-sticky, widely spaced threads to enable it to move easily around its own web during construction, working from the inside outward. Then, beginning from the outside and moving inward, the spider methodically replaces this spiral with a more closely spaced one made of adhesive threads. It uses the initial radiating lines as well as the non-sticky spirals as guide lines. The spaces between each spiral and the next are directly proportional to the distance from the tip of its back legs to its spinners. This is one way the spider uses its own body as a measuring/spacing device. While the sticky spirals are formed, the non-adhesive spirals are removed as there is no need for them any more.

Who taught the spiders to build webs and why would they even have bothered to begin with?

Not only that but their jaws are designed to make it easy to cut silk strands when they need to -

In spider fangs, however, the serrations are not evenly spaced. Instead, Pugno and Greco found that the gap between them is narrowest at the tip of a fang and widest nearest the base. This, they say, suggests that when spiders want to cut a fibre, their fangs slide inwards across it until it becomes trapped in a serration of the same size. At the contact point between fibre and serration, the required cutting force is at a minimum, thereby maximizing the efficiency of cutting.

“We conducted specific experiments to prove that the fang of a spider is a ‘smart’ tool with graded serrations for cutting fibres of different dimensions naturally placed in the best place for maximizing cutting efficiency,” Pugno explains. “This makes it more efficient than a razor blade to cut these fibres,” Greco adds.
Convenient outcome for blind unguided chance isn't it? And why would senseless chemicals even begin to form life without a motive?

Income inequality fueling Tesla attacks

It's not just many losing their jobs from DOGE but when tesla owner are getting under attacked as well it maybe a symptom of a much bigger problem.

Income inequality is massive in the USA. Common symptoms of this systemic problem is higher stress levels or unease, insecurity among its population, poverty, homelessness, resentment and distrust of the rich and the rich acting with indifference and excessive entitlement with the much greater wealth/power given to them by the massive wealth inequality.

We don't see these levels of unrest in nations where wealth is more equally distributed and "authority gradients" are less steep. Nations like Canada and some nations in EU where wealth distribution is at healthy levels. Such system creates trust and friendly relations or cooperation between rich and the lowest working classes.

I don't think people are simply seeing Tesla owners as supporters of Musk but also people who are rich or on their way to becoming rich.

And because in a country with massive income inequality exists strong resentment towards the rich then it's not hard to see these circumstances are helping to fuel the attacks.

If the unrest escalates further, we might start seeing wealthy people who may not own a Tesla vehicle become targets of attacks as well.

The only solution is find a way to have more equal distribution of wealth like in some EU nations. It will also help mitigate authority gradients and that is efficient.

Prayer for my 7 year old son

Shalom

I pray for my son Levin, who is 7 years old and is growing up with my ex-wife and her partner.

I pray that God will challenge and nurture his talents and protect him from all evil (porn, drugs, addictions, violence, junk food, horror, etc.), and bless him with good friends and make him a good friend himself, in Jesus' name. Amen.

"Your children will be taught by the Lord, and their peace will be great" (Isaiah 54:12).

May God guide him in "God's ways," which are so much higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), in Jesus' name. Amen.

Thank you for your prayers!

May the Lord bless you abundantly (Luke 6:38, Job 42:10), and may He bless Israel, in Jesus' name. Amen!

Sole Deo Gloria

PS And I pray that the Lord will send out harvesters into his harvest (Matthew 9:38)

Oil Executives see disaster in Trump policies

The administration's chaos is a disaster for the commodity markets. 'Drill, baby, drill' is nothing short of a myth and populist rallying cry. Tariff policy is impossible for us to predict and doesn't have a clear goal. We want more stability," one executive said.

Report: Disney Hired A ‘Social Media Expert’ To Consult Actress Rachel Zegler Following Her Anti-Trump ‘Tantrum’

Despite Disney’s best effort to put out all of the media-frenzied fires, the film saw one of the worst box office performances during opening weekend that the studio has seen in recent years, widely underperforming in projected sales.
The film brought in just $43 million during opening weekend, presenting an uphill climb to recoup the $270 million spent on the production and marketing of the film.

Disney just doesn't seem to get it.

The Parable of the Talents: A Call to Boldly Share the Gospel

The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30) is often understood as a lesson on stewardship, but I believe it also carries a deeper message about spreading the Gospel or stewardship of the Gospel. In biblical times, one of the best ways to invest money was to purchase seed and plant it. This parallels another of Jesus' parables, the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:3–9), where the seed represents the Word of God.

If we apply this idea to the Parable of the Talents, then the talents given by the master represent the Gospel, which Christ has entrusted to His servants. Just as the faithful servants invested and multiplied their master’s wealth, we are called to spread the message of salvation, making disciples and growing God’s kingdom. This aligns directly with the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 and Mark 16:15, where Jesus commands us to go and preach the Gospel to all creation.

However, there is a sobering warning in this parable. The unfaithful servant hid his talent out of fear, just as some today hesitate to share their faith. Jesus rebukes him, calling him wicked and lazy, and ultimately casts him into outer darkness. This connects strongly to Revelation 21:8, where the cowardly are listed among those condemned. Fear should never stop us from obeying Christ. In Acts 4:31, when the Holy Spirit filled the early believers, they spoke the word of God boldly. If we have received the Holy Spirit but refuse to share the Gospel due to fear, we are essentially burying our talent, disobeying Jesus, and risking His judgment.

This is not just about preaching—it’s about living out our faith boldly in every aspect of life. Whether through our words, actions, or the way we stand for truth in difficult situations, we must invest what God has given us. The reward for faithfulness is entering into the joy of our Master, but the consequence of cowardice is severe.

Also, this is not about trying to earn our way to heaven. We should be doing this out of love for God and love for our neighbour.
In John 14:21, it says that the one who has Jesus’ commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Him. Jesus commanded us to go and preach the Gospel to all creation (Mark 16:15). So, since we love Him, we should obey Him. It would be wrong to let fear overtake us when people are perishing.

There is actually a law in human courts about someone who is apathetic or negligent in such a situation. It is called "Depraved Indifference."
In life, if you have the opportunity to stop someone from being killed or injured but you choose not to warn them, then in man's court, you are guilty of a crime called "Depraved Indifference." This shows that you have a blatant disregard for their life. It’s like seeing a blind person walking toward a cliff and having the opportunity to warn them, but choosing to do nothing because you're afraid of what others might think. You then allow them to fall off. This is Depraved Indifference.
If human courts recognize this injustice, how much more would a holy and just God recognize the injustice of us not warning others about eternal death?

"So, for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin."James 4:17

The Bible emphasizes that:
  • Obedience is evidence of love for Christ (John 14:21).
  • Jesus commanded us to preach the Gospel (Mark 16:15).
  • Failure to warn others of danger is condemned in Scripture (Ezekiel 3:18-19—where God warns that if the watchman does not warn the wicked, their blood is on his hands).
  • Fear is not an excuse for inaction (Revelation 21:8 condemns cowardice).

Let this parable encourage and challenge us: Are we boldly investing the Gospel, or are we hiding it?

Man arrested striking Tesla counter-protestor with vehicle

Christopher Talbot, 70, made “an obscene gesture” at a 49-year-old victim and struck him with his car, police alleged. About 30 protesters and 200 counterprotesters had gathered at a protest at a Tesla dealership on Franklin Road in western Idaho.

The leaders on the left need to step up NOW and tell their base to stop the violence.

Why Threaten Greenland And Insult One Of Our Best Allies?

Welcome to the 21st Century version of the Monroe Doctrine. Of course, we should be responsible for reducing China's influence in Greenland, the Arctic, and yes, aslo in Panama. And, of course, we care much less about Europe than we used to. An 80-year relationship will definitely change.
======================================
Yes, Greenland needs to have better military defense and should have its minerals developed. Yes, Denmark could have done more, but it the US that has withdrawn its bases and greatly reduced its presence since WWII.

1) By treaty, we can build as many bases as we want in Greenland. We used to have 16. We have reduced our footprint to one base of a few hundred airmen in one-year rotations.

2) Few would object if we were to start mining operations, either near bases or not and paid well for workers who wanted to work for us. We may or may not need an agreement with the government, under pressure if necessary. The local economies throughout the country would flourish. There is no reason to do any of this near their capital where 20,000 of their 35,000 citizens live.

3) It would be good form (so non-Trump) to allow the government (basically in the capital to continue to be autonomous.

4) Yes, we should actively use the new bases to protect the Arctic and Greenland against Chinese actions, as well as to protect mining operations.

5) Finally, the Danes have sent military help whenever we asked: in Iraq, In Afghanistan, Libya and would have come to Syria. MORE Danes per capita participated and were injured than soldiers from any other European county. As when we called Canada a poor ally, Trump's and Vance's statements have been insulting. NATO has responded to only ONE attack on its members since its founding. It members came to the aid of the US after 911.

Trump announces plan to chop down magnolia tree purportedly planted by Andrew Jackson: 'Must come to an end'

According to folklore, two trees were planted by Andrew Jackson to honor his late wife Rachel

President Donald Trump announced plans to chop down a tree that was said to have been planted by former President Andrew Jackson.

In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump said that he was working with "the wonderful people at the National Park Service" to make "tremendous enhancements to the White House, thereby preserving and protecting History!"

"One of the interesting dilemmas is a tree planted many years ago by the Legendary President and General, Andrew Jackson," Trump described. "It is a Southern Magnolia, that came from his home, The Hermitage, in Tennessee. That’s the good news!"

"The bad news is that everything must come to an end, and this tree is in terrible condition, a very dangerous safety hazard, at the White House Entrance, no less, and must now be removed," he continued.

It Was God's Will to Crush Him

“But the Lord was pleased
To crush Him, putting Him to grief;
If He would render Himself as a guilt offering,
He will see His offspring,
He will prolong His days,
And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.
As a result of the anguish of His soul,
He will see it and be satisfied;
By His knowledge the Righteous One,
My Servant, will justify the many,
As He will bear their iniquities.
Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,
And He will divide the booty with the strong;
Because He poured out Himself to death,
And was numbered with the transgressors;
Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,
And interceded for the transgressors.” (Isaiah 53:10-12 NASB’95)

This is a prophecy by the prophet Isaiah, of the Old Testament, regarding the coming of Jesus Christ as Savior of the world. Jesus always existed with God, and he was/is God, the second person of our triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He was with God in the beginning and he is our creator God, the one who made us. And he left heaven, came to this earth, was born as a baby to a human mother, and while on the earth he was fully human and yet fully God (God incarnate), but he was not born into sin as we are.

During his years of ministry on the earth he healed the sick and afflicted, raised the dead, delivered people from demons, fed the hungry, and performed all sorts of miracles before the eyes of the people. And the multitudes followed him, for a while, because of the miracles he performed, and because he was healing their diseases, and because he fed them. But the rulers in the temple hated him because he claimed to be God, he healed people on the Sabbath, and because of his popularity among the people.

But they hated him also because of the things that he taught, and because of the things that he said about them in pointing out their hypocrisies, and because he confronted them in their sins. They assumed because they were in the physical family line of Abraham that they were God’s children, in right relationship with God. But he let them know that, because they wanted to kill Jesus, that God was not their Father, and Abraham was not their father, but the devil was their father, and they were doing the deeds of the devil.

For Jesus Christ did not teach the diluted and altered gospel message which is so popularized in America today. He taught that we must die to sin and walk in obedience to his commands, in holy living, and not in deliberate and habitual sin, if we want to have salvation from sin and eternal life with God. And this is not “works salvation.” This is living out the salvation already provided for us via Jesus’ death on a cross, in the power of God, by the Spirit, by God-persuaded faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

But probably most of the Jews in the vicinity of where Jesus lived called for Jesus to be crucified on a cross, although he had done no wrong, but because they did not like it that he claimed to be God, and that he taught with the authority of God, and because he healed people on the Sabbath, and he did not conform to their traditions, and he confronted them with their sins, and he called them to repentance and to obedience to God, as living sacrifices to God, holy and acceptable and pleasing to God.

So, they arranged for him to be put to death on a cross because they wanted to put an end to him and to his teachings, and to his followers, too. For they assumed that by killing Jesus that it would be the end of him and of his teachings, and of his followers, too, I believe. But they thought wrong. For God the Father resurrected Jesus from the dead on the third day. Jesus appeared to his disciples, and to many other people, before returning to heaven. And later he sent his Holy Spirit to indwell his followers.

Was it evil what they did to Jesus? Yes! Was it wrong? Yes! But it was necessary that Jesus Christ should give his life up for us on that cross so that we can now, by faith in him, be crucified with him in death to sin, and raised with him to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness, in walks of obedience to our Lord and to his commands. By faith in Jesus Christ we can now be free from the control of sin and follow Jesus according to his ways.

Therefore, it was the will of God that Jesus should be persecuted and crushed and put to death on that cross. For when he died on that cross he put our sins to death with him so that, by God-persuaded faith in him we might now die to sin and walk in obedience to his commands in holy living. He died so that we would no longer live for self-pleasure, but for the will of God for our lives, in doing all that he commands that we do, and in going wherever he sends us, and in speaking his words of wisdom to the people.

For only by the grace of God in sending Jesus to that cross to die for our sins can any of us be saved from our slavery to sin and be assured heaven as our eternal destiny. But the grace of God paved the way for us to be delivered from our addiction to sin and to empower us to now live holy lives, pleasing to God, in walks of obedience to his commands. But if we choose to refuse to bow the knee to God, and we do not repent of (turn from) our sins, but we continue in deliberate and habitual sin against God, and not in walks of obedience to his commands, we will not have eternal life with God.

Oh, to Be Like Thee, Blessed Redeemer

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, 1897
Music by W. J. Kirkpatrick, 1897

Oh, to be like Thee! blessèd Redeemer,
This is my constant longing and prayer;
Gladly I’ll forfeit all of earth’s treasures,
Jesus, Thy perfect likeness to wear.

Oh, to be like Thee! full of compassion,
Loving, forgiving, tender and kind,
Helping the helpless, cheering the fainting,
Seeking the wandering sinner to find.

O to be like Thee! lowly in spirit,
Holy and harmless, patient and brave;
Meekly enduring cruel reproaches,
Willing to suffer others to save.

O to be like Thee! while I am pleading,
Pour out Thy Spirit, fill with Thy love;
Make me a temple meet for Thy dwelling,
Fit me for life and Heaven above.

Oh, to be like Thee! Oh, to be like Thee,
Blessèd Redeemer, pure as Thou art;
Come in Thy sweetness, come in Thy fullness;
Stamp Thine own image deep on my heart.

The Federalist Papers No. 78

The Judiciary Department
From McLEAN'S Edition, New York.
HAMILTON
To the People of the State of New York:

WE PROCEED now to an examination of the judiciary department of the proposed government.

In unfolding the defects of the existing Confederation, the utility and necessity of a federal judicature have been clearly pointed out. It is the less necessary to recapitulate the considerations there urged, as the propriety of the institution in the abstract is not disputed; the only questions which have been raised being relative to the manner of constituting it, and to its extent. To these points, therefore, our observations shall be confined.

The manner of constituting it seems to embrace these several objects: 1st. The mode of appointing the judges. 2d. The tenure by which they are to hold their places. 3d. The partition of the judiciary authority between different courts, and their relations to each other.

First. As to the mode of appointing the judges; this is the same with that of appointing the officers of the Union in general, and has been so fully discussed in the two last numbers, that nothing can be said here which would not be useless repetition.

Second. As to the tenure by which the judges are to hold their places; this chiefly concerns their duration in office; the provisions for their support; the precautions for their responsibility.

According to the plan of the convention, all judges who may be appointed by the United States are to hold their offices DURING GOOD BEHAVIOR; which is conformable to the most approved of the State constitutions and among the rest, to that of this State. Its propriety having been drawn into question by the adversaries of that plan, is no light symptom of the rage for objection, which disorders their imaginations and judgments. The standard of good behavior for the continuance in office of the judicial magistracy, is certainly one of the most valuable of the modern improvements in the practice of government. In a monarchy it is an excellent barrier to the despotism of the prince; in a republic it is a no less excellent barrier to the encroachments and oppressions of the representative body. And it is the best expedient which can be devised in any government, to secure a steady, upright, and impartial administration of the laws.

Whoever attentively considers the different departments of power must perceive, that, in a government in which they are separated from each other, the judiciary, from the nature of its functions, will always be the least dangerous to the political rights of the Constitution; because it will be least in a capacity to annoy or injure them. The Executive not only dispenses the honors, but holds the sword of the community. The legislature not only commands the purse, but prescribes the rules by which the duties and rights of every citizen are to be regulated. The judiciary, on the contrary, has no influence over either the sword or the purse; no direction either of the strength or of the wealth of the society; and can take no active resolution whatever. It may truly be said to have neither FORCE nor WILL, but merely judgment; and must ultimately depend upon the aid of the executive arm even for the efficacy of its judgments.

This simple view of the matter suggests several important consequences. It proves incontestably, that the judiciary is beyond comparison the weakest of the three departments of power1; that it can never attack with success either of the other two; and that all possible care is requisite to enable it to defend itself against their attacks. It equally proves, that though individual oppression may now and then proceed from the courts of justice, the general liberty of the people can never be endangered from that quarter; I mean so long as the judiciary remains truly distinct from both the legislature and the Executive. For I agree, that "there is no liberty, if the power of judging be not separated from the legislative and executive powers.''2 And it proves, in the last place, that as liberty can have nothing to fear from the judiciary alone, but would have every thing to fear from its union with either of the other departments; that as all the effects of such a union must ensue from a dependence of the former on the latter, notwithstanding a nominal and apparent separation; that as, from the natural feebleness of the judiciary, it is in continual jeopardy of being overpowered, awed, or influenced by its co-ordinate branches; and that as nothing can contribute so much to its firmness and independence as permanency in office, this quality may therefore be justly regarded as an indispensable ingredient in its constitution, and, in a great measure, as the citadel of the public justice and the public security.

The complete independence of the courts of justice is peculiarly essential in a limited Constitution. By a limited Constitution, I understand one which contains certain specified exceptions to the legislative authority; such, for instance, as that it shall pass no bills of attainder, no ex-post-facto laws, and the like. Limitations of this kind can be preserved in practice no other way than through the medium of courts of justice, whose duty it must be to declare all acts contrary to the manifest tenor of the Constitution void. Without this, all the reservations of particular rights or privileges would amount to nothing.

Some perplexity respecting the rights of the courts to pronounce legislative acts void, because contrary to the Constitution, has arisen from an imagination that the doctrine would imply a superiority of the judiciary to the legislative power. It is urged that the authority which can declare the acts of another void, must necessarily be superior to the one whose acts may be declared void. As this doctrine is of great importance in all the American constitutions, a brief discussion of the ground on which it rests cannot be unacceptable.

Brother of Terri Schiavo says fight to protect life at all stages more urgent than ever

(OSV News) — Bobby Schindler still remembers his older sister’s love of animals.

“We had a Labrador growing up, a family pet that she just adored,” he told OSV News about his sister, Terri Schiavo, and their dog, Bucky. “He had … a brain tumor, and he fell over and collapsed … and Terri reached out and tried to give it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.”

“I don’t think she knew how to do it,” he added, but “she was trying to do everything she could to save her dog.”

Schindler spoke about Schiavo ahead of the 20th anniversary of her death — a death that followed a years-long legal battle that made international headlines and captured the attention of then-President George W. Bush, U.S. members of Congress and even the Vatican.
Schiavo, who had suffered a serious brain injury, died on March 31, 2005, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed at the decision of her husband, Michael, against the wishes of her parents and siblings. She was 41.
Her case led Schindler to dedicate his life to helping families in similar situations through the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network, an organization dedicated to upholding human dignity by serving those who are medically vulnerable. The network, which provides a 24/7 crisis lifeline service for at-risk patients and families, has helped thousands since its founding in 2005.

Schindler, together with Dr. Tim Millea, chair of the Catholic Medical Association Health Care Policy Committee, spoke with OSV News about the challenges since Schiavo’s death to upholding the dignity of life for the medically vulnerable.
“We knew Terri had a severe brain injury, and we knew that she most likely was never going to improve to the point where she was going to be able to take care of herself,” said Schindler, a Paige Comstock Cunningham senior fellow at Americans United for Life and an associate scholar at Charlotte Lozier Institute, the research arm of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. “That never mattered to our family: Terri was a human being. She had value and worth and … she only needed food and hydration to live.”

Coming back to the faith

Australia is a Christian Nation

Australia is in the midst of a massive identity crisis. Let me explain.

We are a country founded on the Christian faith and on Western culture.

Our founding document leads with these words, ‘Humbly relying on the blessing of Almighty God.’

No one, unless you are a complete ignoramus or a member of the progressive Left, can deny that Australia is fundamentally a Christian nation.

But the Left has demonised Christianity and rejected our Western roots. So where does that leave us?

If we are not Christian… what are we?

And it’s at this point that the left shows us what nihilists they are.

They love to tear down everything that made Australia great, but they never provide an alternative.

Donald Trump's return to office: Ten consequences

I imagine some might see a mixed bag here.

8. Trump is promoting European unity. Can that be bad?

Elderly woman boxed in and beaten because she drove a Tesla

'I'm just appalled. I didn't buy my car for a political statement. I bought my car because its really fun to drive,' Susan said.
'My politics have nothing to do with that. I'm ashamed of our society and what they are doing.'
It is the latest in a slew of incidents of Tesla drivers being targeted, threatened and attacked as backlash towards the company's billionaire owner, Elon Musk.

The leaders of the left refuse to tone down their violent rhetoric. I agree with her, I am also ashamed of our society.

If Women Can’t Speak, They Can’t Sing Either

I Corinthians 14:34, or 14:33-35, in context, is often taken to mean that women cannot preach because they must remain silent in church. I have argued in the past that this is a hasty conclusion, as can be seen by looking at the context. Here is something else. The Greek word translated as “speak” can also mean “sing.” The word covers all words that come out of the mouth.

The church I grew up in did not allow women pastors but women did make announcements and they did sing in the choir, in musical programs, and in the congregation. Women also taught Sunday School. In the church I attend today, it is much the same. The church would not accept a female pastor but women make announcements, and they sing on stage and in the congregation. They also read or recite scripture.

What does the Greek word used for “speak” mean, in the New Testament?

Word: laleo : to speak, to talk, to utter

Strong's 1696:
To speak, declare, converse, command, promise, warn, threaten, sing

Strong's Greek: 2980. λαλέω (laleó) -- To speak, to talk, to utter

For reference:

For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the
congregations of the saints,
women should remain silent in the churches. They are not
allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says.
If they want to enquire about something, they should ask
their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

Muslim woman kills Christian couple by poisoning food after taking her daughter to church

Woman confesses to accidentally killing her daughter who also ate food prepared for Christian neighbors during Ramadan

NAIROBI, Kenya — A Muslim woman in eastern Uganda killed a Christian couple and accidentally took her own daughter’s life in the process.

Doreen Nairuba, a Christian woman, died on March 16 from eating poisoned food prepared by her Muslim neighbor, Hanifa Hamiyat, in Nabiganda town, Butaleja District, an area neighbor said. Nairuba was also six months pregnant.

Hamiyat’s 18-year-old daughter, Marriam Kapisa, died the same day after unknowingly eating the food prepared by her mother for Nairuba and her husband, Jackson Wampula, who died from the poisoning the next day on March 17, residents said.

U.K. Seeks New Trade Deal With U.S. In Effort To Avoid Trump’s Tariffs

“We’re engaged in discussions with the United States about mitigating the impact of tariffs,” Starmer told reporters earlier this week. Finance Minister Rachel Reeves on Thursday said Britain would not seek to “escalate” trade wars, a contrast from Canada and European Nations, all of whom have vowed to “retaliate” even though they already have tariffs on American goods.https://trendingpoliticsnews.com/new-u-k-seeks-new-trade-deal-with-u-s-in-effort-to-avoid-trumps-tariffs-cmc/?utm_source=DS21

Most American Christians don't believe in the Trinity: Survey

An overwhelming majority of Christians reject the basic Christian teaching of the Trinity, prompting new concerns that Americans are living without the influence of “the truths and life principles of God.”

The Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University released the latest installment of its American Worldview Inventory series which documents Americans’ views on the Trinity. The research is based on responses collected from 2,100 adults in January.

Overall, just 40% of respondents believe that God exists and affects people’s lives. That figure rises to 53% among self-identified Christians, 60% among theologically-identified born-again Christians, and 100% among Integrated Disciples. The latter term refers to those who have a biblical worldview. While a majority of those surveyed (59%) believe in the existence of Jesus Christ, a significantly smaller share of adults (29%) believe in the Holy Spirit.

“Jesus, I Surrender My Life To You
Take Care of Everything”

After my heart surgery, they had to keep me loaded up on some strong drugs, for pain, of course. I have never liked drugs; in fact when I was very young in the Navy, I was surrounded by men who were highly addicted, but I wanted nothing to do with it. Not because I was better than them, but they had no attraction. Alcohol was not quite so strong an aversion. I liked getting slightly high while on dates because it made dancing more fun. However, at a certain point, I did not like it at all. It shut me down in a way that I do not quite understand. I got drunk three times in the Navy, and they were all bad experiences for me.

So my experience in the hospital with a boatload of strong painkillers was a real nightmare that lasted for a week and a half. One of the doctors told me that it was mostly because of my age, but then he said he never heard anything like it. Lucky me.

I remember closing my eyes, and suddenly, I was in a different world. I would open them, and I was back in my bed. The problem was it was a landscape from hell. There were great monsters that looked like demons, and they were fighting each other, destroying everything in sight……yes, a bad trip. I would open my eyes and again I was back.

After I returned home, I thought they would end, but every night there they were. For about a week I could not sleep, so it was me and me getting a tour of hell, perhaps my own inner hidden place of anger and pain.

So on the second night home, I was being led from one scene to another. Finally, I prayed, “Lord, please stop this, it is driving me crazy”. So I got an answer, “Mark, learn to endure. Not the answer I was looking for, but I took to heart.

St. Paul talks about patient endurance (fortitude), so I endured, prayed, and because I could not rest or sleep, tried not to go crazy. I did not lose my mind, well, I hope so.

I have learned that as I age, I simply have to allow the process to continue, while at the same time doing what I can to keep going and stay healthy. It is not an easy lesson, but I am slowly growing in my faith and trust in God’s care.

Why should it surprise me that old age is about letting go over time? We are pilgrims after all, on a journey that ends in our entering the eternal mystery we call death.

Death is not an exit, but an entry into a broader reality.- Br.MD

Brazen ‘migrant influencer’ who flashed cash, urged other illegals to squat in US homes deported to Venezuela — after causing uproar on flight

Moreno crossed the Texas border illegally in April 2022 and was quickly released into the US.
The Venezuelan border crosser, however, failed to appear for his required check-ins with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), leading the feds to arrest him in Gahanna, Ohio, in March 2024.
An immigration judge ordered Moreno’s deportation last October, but Venezuela refused to accept any deportation flights at the time.

He praised Biden for his freeloading.
