US Supreme Court raises bar for obstruction charge against Trump, Jan. 6 rioters

June 28, 2024

WASHINGTON, June 28 (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court raised the legal bar on Friday for prosecutors pursuing obstruction charges in the federal election subversion case against Donald Trump and defendants involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

The justices ruled 6-3 to throw out a lower court's decision that had allowed a charge of corruptly obstructing an official proceeding - congressional certification of President Joe Biden's 2020 victory over Trump that the rioters tried to block - against defendant Joseph Fischer, a former police officer.

The court, in the decision authored by Chief Justice John Roberts, took a narrow view of the obstruction statute, saying that prosecutors must show that a defendant "impaired the availability or integrity" of documents or other records related to an official proceeding - or attempted to do so.

Testing and failing

Hi, I am a Catechumen in the Church. I was a Baptist in my youth and fell away ( I'm 68 ) and lived a lifetime of debauchery until I found Orthodoxy a few years ago and gradually I have followed this path to the best of my ability taking classes a few months ago. I pray every morning, night, and daytime and I listen to Orthodox teachings. I attend Liturgy andI attend Liturgy.

I am cowardly and tend to hide my practises from others. I tell them I am Christian, that I pray, and am the Church and I don't shy away from that but I get really uncomfortable crossing myself in restaurants etc. This makes me feel I'm not very brave and might fail the test. Any ideas as to how I can be better?

Apache Girls Booted from Private Lutheran School for Sunrise Dance

The private religious-based academy expelled two girls and warned a third for taking part in an Apache cultural heritage dance that celebrates girls' passage into womanhood (sort of a quinceanera or bas mitzvah?) because the school claims it is Satan worship. The dance ceremony took place off campus on the weekend but pictures were posted on social media.

Religious schools are allowed to discriminate against religions and religious beliefs and private institutions may set their own rules. I guess it comes down to whether the ceremony is religious or merely ethnic. I doubt it is in anyway connected to satanism.

My Incomprehensible nightmare

I think I will try and tell you a little bit of a story about my darkest time in life so you may understand a little more about why I am asking for healing. It may sound strange or even ridiculous but I can tell you it is as real as this earth we live on.

My darkest part in my life wasn't my child hood( though not to say it wasn't painful) but it was late last year. I have had other people take care of me my whole life and never really understood why I could never figure most things out on my own. But late last year everything fell completely apart and ended up having to leave my family because they didn't understand how bad my brain issues were getting. I moved in with my parents(which I am greatful for) and they were trying to help me figure out all that was wrong with me. But there I was fighting my own battles trying to be the man that I thought I should/could be but it was impossible and only left me in tears. The pain was more than I could bare so I was thinking of ending my life. I told my parents about this and of course they were very worried about me ( I don't blame them). So they took me to the hospital( I can't think very well so I thought they were trying to help me figure out why my brain isn't functioning properly) and they did run a few tests but obviously didn't find anything. I was later sent to and admitted into a mental hospital for those with suicidal thoughts or intentions. It was a complete nightmare for me as my brain doesn't hardly question anything. They gave me medication for my anxiety but it just raised my blood pressure and made things worse. And then they talk about walking up and down the halls but with how my brain works I couldn't do that because there were others walking and I can't figure out how to avoid them and they would get angry. So then I would try to read but I cant understand alot of what I read or remember much of it at all so it just felt so fake. I tried as hard as I could to look like I was normal so they wouldn't send me to some place worse because I wouldn't have survived. Most of my time was spent acting like I am watching TV ( don't hardly know what's going on with anything on TV) laying in bed and reading(fake reading and oh yeah shaking and trembling the whole time, trying to bock out all the screams and when the workers would talk to other patients I can't block any of it out so I hear things that I wish I didn't) most people don't have a clue what it means to live a nightmare but that is all I know. I don't understand why my brain works the way it does but it feels like part of it is missing and I want it all… so I can finally have relief..

Can Democrats replace Biden as their nominee?

Vox

Can Democrats replace Biden as their nominee?

June 27, 2024

The short answer is, practically, there probably isn't.

All 50 states have already held their primaries, and Biden has won the vast majority of their delegates. Only Biden himself can direct those delegates to vote for someone else, as they are pledged to vote for him unless he drops out before the Democratic convention this August.
This is where practical and political challenges merge:

Biden is the only one who can decide if he wants to drop out before the floor vote. No secretive party apparatus or individual can direct him to do it.

Biden has not just all the delegates he needs, but essentially all the delegates, period. So practically, there isn’t anyone that could be swapped in at this point, and according to DNC rules, these delegates are bound to support Biden during the first floor vote of the DNC.

FACT FOCUS: Here’s a Look at Some of The False Claims Made During Biden and Trump’s First Debate

FACT FOCUS: Here’s a look at some of the false claims made during Biden and Trump’s first debate

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump traded barbs and a variety of false and misleading information as they faced off in their first debate of the 2024 election.

Trump falsely represented the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol as a relatively small number of people who were ushered in by police and misstated the strength of the economy during his administration.

Biden, who tends to lean more on exaggerations and embellishments rather than outright lies, misrepresented the cost of insulin and overstated what Trump said about using disinfectant to address COVID. Here’s a look at the false and misleading claims on Thursday night by the two candidates.

JAN. 6

TRUMP: They talk about a relatively small number of people that went to the Capitol and in many cases were ushered in by the police.

THE FACTS: That’s false.

The attack on the U.S. Capitol was the deadliest assault on the seat of American power in over 200 years

TRUMP, on then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s actions on Jan. 6: “Because I offered her 10,000 soldiers or National Guard and she turned them down.”

THE FACTS: false. Pelosi did not direct the National Guard. Further, as the Capitol came under attack, she and then-Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell called for military assistance, including from the National Guard.

TAXES AND REGULATIONS
TRUMP, on Biden: “He wants to raise your taxes by four times.”

THE FACTS: That’s not accurate.
Trump has used that line at rallies, but it has no basis in fact. Biden actually wants to prevent tax increases on anyone making less than $400,000, which is the vast majority of taxpayers.

TRUMP, referring to Jan. 6, 2021, the day a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol in an effort to stop the certification of Biden’s victory: “On January 6th we had the lowest taxes ever. We had the lowest regulations ever on January 6th.”

THE FACTS: The current federal income tax was only instituted in 1913, and tax rates have fluctuated significantly in the decades since.
Government regulations have also ebbed and flowed in the country’s history, but there’s been an overall increase in regulations as the country modernized and its population grew.

INSULIN

BIDEN: “It’s $15 for an insulin shot, as opposed to $400.”

THE FACTS: No, that’s not exactly right. Out-of-pocket insulin costs for older Americans on Medicare were capped at $35 in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act that President Joe Biden signed into law. The cap took effect last year, when many drugmakers announced they would lower the price of the drug to $35 for most users on private insurance.

CLIMATE CHANGE

TRUMP
, touting his environmental record, said that “during my four years, I had the best environmental numbers ever” and that he supports “immaculate” air and water.
THE FACTS: That’s far from the whole story. During his presidency, Trump rolled back some provisions of the Clean Water Act, eased regulations on coal, oil and gas companies and pulled the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord.

ABORTION

TRUMP:
“The problem they have is they’re radical because they will take the life of a child in the eighth month, the ninth month, and even after birth, after birth.”

THE FACTS: Trump inaccurately referred to abortions after birth. Infanticide is criminalized in every state, and no state has passed a law that allows killing a baby after birth.

RUSSIA

TRUMP on Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who was detained in Russia: “He should have had him out a long time ago, but Putin’s probably asking for billions and billions of dollars because this guy pays it every time.”

THE FACTS: Trump is wrong to say that Biden pays any sort of fee “every time” to secure the release of hostages and wrongfully detained Americans. There’s also zero evidence that Putin is asking for any money in order to free Gershkovich.

COVID-19

BIDEN:
Trump told Americans to “inject bleach” into their arms to treat COVID-19.

THE FACTS: That’s overstating it. Rather, Trump asked whether it would be possible to inject disinfectant into the lungs.

SUPER PREDATORS

TRUMP:
“What he’s done to the Black population is horrible, including the fact that for 10 years he called them ‘super predators.’ … We can’t forget that - super predators … And they’ve taken great offense at it.”

THE FACTS: False. This oft-repeated claim by Trump dating back to the 2020 campaign is untrue.

MIGRANTS

TRUMP,
referring to Biden: “He’s the one that killed people with a bad border and flooding hundreds of thousands of people dying and also killing our citizens when they come in.”

THE FACTS: False. A mass influx of migrants coming into the U.S. illegally across the southern border has led to a number of false and misleading claims by Trump. For example, he regularly claims other countries are emptying their prisons and mental institutions to send to the U.S. There is no evidence to support that.
Trump has also argued the influx of immigrants is causing a crime surge in the U.S., False, statistics actually show violent crime is on the way down.

CHARLOTTESVILLE

BIDEN
, referring to Trump after the deadly white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017: “The one who said I think they’re fine people on both sides.”

THE FACTS: True. Trump did use those words to describe attendees of the deadly rally, which was planned by white nationalists. But as Trump supporters have pointed out, he also said that day that he wasn’t talking about the neo-Nazis and white nationalists in attendance.

ECONOMY

TRUMP:
We had the greatest economy in history.”
TRUMP: “I gave you the largest tax cut in history.”
TRUMP: “The only jobs (Biden) created are for illegal immigrants and bounce back jobs, bounce back from the COVID.”

THE FACTS: That’s not accurate. First of all, the pandemic triggered a massive recession during his presidency. The government borrowed $3.1 trillion in 2020 to stabilize the economy. Trump had the ignominy of leaving the White House with fewer jobs than when he entered. (Tax Cuts) When it was passed in 2017, Trump’s tax cut was, in inflation-adjusted dollars, the fourth-largest since 1940.
(Jobs)
Since Biden took office in early 2021, the number of foreign-born Americans who are employed has risen by about 5.6 million. But over the same time period, the number of native-born Americans employed has increased by almost 7.4 million

MILITARY DEATHS

BIDEN:
“The truth is, I’m the only president this century that doesn’t have any — this decade — any troops dying anywhere in the world like he did.”

THE FACTS: False. At least 16 service members have been killed in hostile action since Biden took office in January 2021. On Aug. 26, 2021, 13 died during a suicide bombing at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, as U.S. troops withdrew from the country.

PRESIDENTIAL RECORD

BIDEN:
“159, or 58, don’t know an exact number, presidential historians, they’ve had meetings and they voted, who is the worst president in American history … They said he was the worst in all American history. That’s a fact. That’s not conjecture.”

THE FACTS: That’s almost right, but not quite. The survey in question, a project from professors at the University of Houston and Coastal Carolina University, included 154 usable responses, from 525 respondents invited to participate.

GEORGE FLOYD PROTESTS

TRUMP,
on Minneapolis protests after the killing of George Floyd: “If I didn’t bring in the National Guard, that city would have been destroyed.”

THE FACTS: False. Trump didn’t call the National Guard into Minneapolis during the unrest following the death of George Floyd. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz deployed the National Guard to the city

IMMIGRATION

TRUMP:
Biden “allowed millions of people to come in here from prisons, jails and mental institutions.”

THE FACTS: False. Immigration officials arrested about 103,700 noncitizens with criminal convictions (whether in the U.S. or abroad) from fiscal years 2021 to 2024, federal data shows. That accounts for people stopped at and between ports of entry.

BIDEN: “I’ve changed (the law) in the way that now you’re in a situation where there are 40 percent fewer people coming across the border illegally.”

THE FACTS: True. The Department of Homeland Security announced that illegal immigration encounters dropped by 40 percent, to fewer than 2,400 each day, in the weeks after Biden announced a policy largely barring asylum access for people entering the U.S. at the southern border.

Trump: “The only jobs (Biden) created are for illegal immigrants and bounceback jobs, bounce back from the COVID.”

Supreme Court Sides With Jan. 6 Rioter in Obstruction Case

The case could have implications for former President Donald Trump, who is on trial for allegedly trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

For former President Donald Trump, the ruling wipes out two of the four criminal counts brought against him by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith in a federal indictment that accuses him of scheming to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
“Although the Government’s all-encompassing interpretation may be literally permissible,” he wrote, “it defies the most plausible understanding” and “it renders an unnerving amount of statutory text” superfluous.
“We therefore decline to adopt the Government’s interpretation, which is inconsistent with ‘the context from which the statute arose.’”

Biden Fallout after debate: From his own people

Not a vast right wing conspiracy:

Please NOTE this thread is about Joe Biden and what his political party and other supporters are saying.

‘The Movement to Convince Biden to Not Run Is Real’

One House Democrat said he spoke for others in the wake of the president’s stunningly feeble debate performance on Thursday: “The movement to convince Biden to not run is real.”
The House member, an outspoken defender of the president, said that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer should consider “a combined effort” to nudge President Joe Biden out of the race.

Hill Democrats don’t want Biden to debate again

House Democrats, smarting from President Joe Biden’s stumbles on Thursday night, are openly urging the president to avoid a second televised debate.
Biden’s widely panned performance during his first head-to-head with former President Donald Trump has raised real alarms among Democrats about their nominee’s viability on the ballot. On Friday morning, party lawmakers blamed Biden’s preparation for the 90-minute debate and advised him to pass on a scheduled rematch – at least if it’s one with the same format. The two have another debate scheduled for the fall hosted by ABC News.

This can’t continue’: Biden-sympathizing columnists urge him to step aside

From the New York Times to the Financial Times to the Wall Street Journal to the Atlantic, left-leaning columnists — many of whom have been covering Biden for years — admitted that the president didn’t just lose the debate: He confirmed his party’s greatest fears that his advanced age had rendered the election unwinnable for the Democrats if he remains their candidate.

Biden’s debate performance sets off alarm bells for Democrats

President Joe Biden’s debate performance has set off alarm bells among top Democrats, leaving some to openly question whether Biden can stay atop of the Democratic ticket.
“He seemed a little disoriented. He did get stronger as the debate went on. But by that time, I think the panic had set in,” longtime Democratic operative and CNN senior political commentator David Axelrod said.
Axelrod also gave voice to a conversation happening among many Democrats on Thursday night: “There are going to be discussions about whether he should continue.”

Opinion: I was denied a life-saving abortion at two hospitals. Here’s what I think of the Supreme Court decision

My daughter was a promise for the future. I named her Maeve, after an Irish warrior queen, because I believed she was going to change the world.

I’d wanted her desperately. When I found out I was pregnant, I was so excited I couldn’t sleep. That first night, my now-husband and I sat together on our back porch in the dark, just taking it all in and thinking about how dramatically our lives would change.

[her water breaks, far too early]

My doctor told me to go straight to the emergency room where they confirmed the worst: There was no chance my daughter would survive, and I was in danger myself. Without emergency intervention to end my pregnancy, I was at risk for infection that could lead to sepsis, infertility or even death.

But the hospital said they couldn’t provide the care I needed to save my life and health.

Ignoring my doctors’ medical advice, the hospital refused to treat me, claiming its hands were tied because of Missouri’s abortion ban. They said there was nothing they could do unless my condition got even worse.

We drove nearly three hours to Kansas, where a doctor initially gave us the option to induce labor to lower my risk of infection and give us a few final minutes with Maeve, so we could hold her and say goodbye.

Then, the doctor came back with a different story. These doctors’ hands, too, were tied because the situation was too politically heated.

[Four days later], we found a clinic in Illinois that was willing to treat me. I’ll always be grateful for the kindness and compassion of the doctors who helped save my life.

Today, the Supreme Court could have provided clarity that EMTALA protects pregnant patients in emergency situations, regardless of state law.

SCOTUS overrule 'Chevron Deference'

Decision

Supreme Court Overturns 40-Year Precedent You Didn't Know Existed: 'You Could See Things Descend into Chaos'

The "Chevron deference" has long been the backbone of how corporations are regulated. The new ruling strips federal agencies of their power to determine what's best for Americans

On Friday, June 28, the court ruled 6-3 in favor of overturning the "Chevron deference," a backbone principle for how the federal government keeps corporations in check. Chevron is the practice by which federal courts defer to federal agencies when sorting out ambiguities in a law.

"Using environmental law as an example, most statues use words like 'pollutant' or 'human health' or 'environmental health' or even words as seemingly straightforward as ‘water,' " he says.

But the way those words are defined might differ between a large corporation that doesn't want their factory runoff to be regulated, and the agency meant to enforce human health.

In those cases, when a company or person takes a federal agency to court, the court sides with the agency itself.

[Now, individual judges in individual courts will decide these issues. Neither the plaintiffs nor the government know for sure what the law means.]

"Removing the Chevron deference creates a situation where you could see things descend into chaos," he says. "It’s kind of unimaginable what the regulatory space looks like in a world where administrators and regulators can't be confident that their reasonable interpretations of their mandates are respected by courts."

Sources for Fact-Checking the Presidential Debate of June 27th, 2024

I was disappointed by both candidates.

Trump did not mention many of his strident assertions, that he has
demanded that his followers believe. As with his tea party candidates,
they seem to hide their true beliefs, until they are elected. Then they try
to destroy the democratic system from within.

Biden is a man who seems unable to present basic facts about the current
strength of the U.S. economy, AND point out some new challenges that
America faces.

I do not find the Democratic Party or the Republican Party as representing
the moderate middle of American voters.

"Teaching the Bible" in Public Schools?

Again, Protestant Fundamentalists do not distinguish between teaching the Judea-Christian moral-ethical (ME) system, and "teaching the Bible".

In general, the Judea-Christian ME model is compatible with the concepts of reality, evidence, a fair rule of law, and justice, that the founding American documents uphold. (These are not compatible with Trump's view of reality and morality.)

But this is not what Protestant Fundamentalists want. They want their own theology taught. And that, is not teaching a generally accepted ME model.

As long as the Protestant Fundamentalists demand that their own theology is taught in American schools, this will be a violation of church and state, under the founding America documents. It will also not be in agreement with the sacramental form of Christianity, of the first 4 centuries. (That is, this theology does not agree with the other major European Christian groups coming out of Europe -- Catholic and Lutheran.)

The anti-intellectualism of many of the Christian groups that want to dictate what is taught in public schools, disqualifies them from deciding the intellectual curricula of schools.

That's the core problem.

Oklahoma's top education official orders schools to teach the Bible

For His Good Pleasure

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:12-13 ESV).

What does this mean to work out our own salvation? Well, when we have a correct biblical perspective of our salvation it helps us in understanding what this is saying. For this is not about us trying to earn or to deserve our own salvation through our own fleshly “good works” that we think we are doing for God but while we still live the way that we want without regard for God and for his will and purpose for our lives.

For, by God-given and God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin, and we are raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness. Therefore, we are to not let sin continue to reign in our mortal bodies, to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, and not obedience to our Lord, we will die in our sins, not live for eternity.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come after him means that we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin) and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to our old lives of living in sin and for self, we will lose them for eternity. But if for the sake of Christ we deny self, and die daily to sin, by his grace, and we follow him in obedience to his commands (New Covenant), then we have eternal life with him (see Luke 9:23-26; Romans 6:1-23).

And then we learn in the Scriptures that Jesus died that we might die to sin and live to righteousness and that we might live for him and no longer for ourselves. He shed his blood for us on that cross to buy us back for God (to redeem us) out of our lives of living in sin and for self so that we will now honor God with our bodies, and so that we will now live holy lives pleasing to him in walks of obedience and in surrender to his will for our lives.

1 Peter 2:24; 2 Corinthians 5:15; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:17-24

So, working out our own salvation with fear and trembling just means that we are walking in the salvation already provided for us via Jesus’ death and resurrection, and by his grace, and by God-given faith in him, which comes from him, and which is not of our own doing. So, we walk in obedience to our Lord, and we put sin to death in our lives, and we now live holy lives pleasing unto the Lord, but all because of God’s grace, and in his power!

“Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me” (Philippians 2:14-18 ESV).

And this here is evidence of what it means to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, by the grace of God, and in the power of God, under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

We are not to be people who fight and quarrel with other people, especially not with others of like faith in Jesus Christ. Now this is not teaching that we cannot stand up for what is right and contend with what is evil. We can! And we should! Jesus definitely did, and so did his NT apostles. And we are instructed in the Scriptures that we are not only to be sharing the truth of the gospel, and living it, but we are to expose the fruitless deeds of darkness for what they are so that others do not fall into their evil traps.

But we need to learn how to do this without getting into heated arguments with others to the point to where we do and say things we should not do or say. We all have to guard against this, for Satan loves to provoke us to the point of anger. And so we must control that anger by the Spirit. And we must walk away from pointless discussions that go nowhere, especially if they are ones that get repeated over again. In some cases, wisdom says to walk away, for it will only go badly if we stay and try to prove our point.

Yes, we definitely live in a crooked and twisted generation, and so much of that has also creeped into the gatherings of what are called “churches.” But remember here that the church is not a building, not a corporation, not a church denomination, and not a specific physical location. The church is us who believe in Jesus Christ with genuine God-persuaded faith in Christ. We are the church, the living stones in God’s spiritual house, his building, of which he is our cornerstone and head.

But we are not to be part of that crooked and twisted generation. For God has called us to be his holy people who are living different (unlike, separate) from the world because God is now conforming us to the likeness in character of Jesus Christ, by our faith in Christ Jesus as Lord of our lives. We are not to blend in with our culture so that people will like us, but we are to walk in holiness and in righteousness in obedience to our Lord and to his calling on our lives to be his holy people.

Therefore, we are to stand out as different, as odd, as peculiar because we aren’t like the world, because we are being conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ. And we are to shine the light of truth and of the gospel of our salvation via how we live our lives to the glory of God, and via our witness and our testimonies for Jesus Christ and for his gospel. And this engages refuting the lies of Satan, for so many people professing faith in Jesus Christ are following the lies and not the truth that Jesus taught.

And we are to be people of God who are willing to be hated and rejected and thought peculiar and cast away and forsaken and mistreated by others who do not believe and live the same gospel we believe and obey, by the grace of God. And this is so that we can share the truth of the gospel of Christ with others without fear of their rejection or persecution of us. For many people are believing the lies, and so they need to hear the truth, and so we need to be those who are willing to sacrifice our lives for the sake of their salvation.

I Stand in Awe

By Mark Altrogge

… You are beautiful beyond description
Yet God crushed You for my sin
In agony and deep affliction
Cut off that I might enter in
Who can grasp such tender compassion?
Who can fathom this mercy so free?
You are beautiful beyond description
Lamb of God who died for me

And I stand, I stand in awe of You
I stand, I stand in awe of You
Holy God, to whom all praise is due
I stand in awe of You

Looks like the debate was a disaster for Biden.

I didnt watch the debate as it has reached a level of politics that I dont care for, but the newscasters this morning were almost cataclysmic of the shocking feedback they are getting. We can see it in the headlines..

I think Biden will have to refuse the nomination and they pick another candidate other than Kamala Harris, it cannot be seen as anything but a catastrophic failure.

The theology of gerontocracy ...

Having watched the presidential debate, and not caring to make a comment about party politics, all I have to say on the debate is that the debate amounted to saying:
we are old and wise and can stand up 90 minutes, so vote for us!
Indeed, the scriptures urge both Christians and Israelites to honor the elderly and cherish their wisdom. The debate emerges over whether this principle is absolute or if there might be a point when someone is too aged to govern a nation.

Scripture teaches respect for the elderly, as seen in Leviticus 19:32, which instructs people to stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, emphasizing the importance of showing reverence and care to senior citizens.

As voters seek divine wisdom on their journey to the ballot box, these teachings remain a guiding light.

Imagine you are a normal citizen during Moses time, you heard about the Ten commandments, you follow Sabath day, you give sacrifice of animals,
you tried to do good, but you are not perfect.
You really fear God and believe in Him.
However, you are still a sinner.
You never have chance to listen to the Gospel.
In this case, how can you be saved by faith?

Pro-Kremlin X accounts push fake Fox News articles ahead of debate

Efforts to manipulate social media discussion around the debate underscore warnings from experts regarding the threat that disinformation continues to pose.

The fake articles, first reported on X by the account @antibot4navalny, an anonymous group of analysts tracking Russia-related influence operations, directed people to a fake version of Fox News’ website. That website appears to be part of a known Russian disinformation campaign that has mimicked legitimate news websites from Le Monde in France to The Washington Post. E.U. researchers dubbed it the doppelgänger network in 2022.

In March, Alethea, a company that researches online risks including disinformation, identified 81 websites and more than 5,000 X accounts as part of the campaign.

Laundering propaganda through Kremlin-created or approved news outlets is a tried and true tactic, but this campaign has taken on a modern twist. It uses a fake website that credibly imitates a legitimate news outlet, sharing links through a network of seemingly automated accounts in a way that is not easily detected by platforms and researchers.

The fake website looks almost identical to Fox News’ real website, and the fake article uses the name of a real Fox News reporter.

Another article shared by accounts in the network with the headline “Mission: Almost Impossible” included an argument that President Joe Biden would need only to remain on his feet to win the debate and that Democrats were plotting to steal the election. It also included dehumanizing language about immigrants, in furtherance of the conspiracy theory of widespread illegal voting by immigrants.

[Wait a minute, are we sure it's fake?]

“The story is fake,” a Fox News spokesperson confirmed in an email.

Potential Marriage Advice

Hello Everyone!

I have a question regarding potentially entering into marriage. I'll explain the situation and I am looking forward to any guidance. I entered into a relationship with a girl almost 2 years ago. Things are going great, and we are now talking about marriage, children, etc. Here's where my question starts. She was married before. The marriage ended due to the husband having issues with alcohol. She told him to leave, and after 3 months, he entered into a relationship with another woman. He had a child with the other woman. He was the first to do so, she did not enter into a relationship first. I am concerned because in the Bible it states that to marry a woman who was married before is adultery. I have been praying about it, researching it, reading scripture and my thought process currently is that the Bible does grant divorce in certain situations, one of those being for adultery. Since he entered into a sexual relationship with another woman, he broke the bonds of marriage and thus I would not be committing adultery by pursuing a marriage with her. I would appreciate any guidance on this. Thank you everyone in advance.

How to eat Lord Jesus' flesh and drink his blood?

I feel that it is difficult to understand these verses, did Jesus say that figuratively? Or is he serious we must eat his flesh and drink his blood?
Protestant said the cup and bread of Lord's Supper only symbolize Jesus' sacrifice.
But Catholic said the Eucharist really transforms the bread and wine into Jesus' flesh and blood, you are eating his flesh and drinking his blood.
What did Paul say about this?

John 6:
53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
