  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Jill Biden’s Former Press Secretary Says She is ‘Allergic to Transparency’

Former press secretary to former First Lady Jill Biden said during a recent interview with Fox News that the former President Joe Biden and his family are “allergic to transparency.”
According to the Daily Wire, Michael LaRosa told “Fox & Friends: Weekend” on Sunday that it was difficult to work for the Biden’s during their time in the White House because he could never get a “straight answer” from anyone.
“Fox & Friends” Host Rachel Campos Duffy asked LaRosa about recently released audio of the former president’s interview with then-Special Counsel Robert Hur and if things could have changed if the Bidens had been successful keeping the audio away from public disclosure.
If you only knew how hard it was — I mean, this was a group in the White House who were allergic to transparency,” LaRosa said. “And I go back to my — and I’m just talking about like just in the East Wing [the First Lady’s office]. I mean, the very first day walking into the White House, the usher was fired and I couldn’t get reporters straight answers because nobody would give me straight answers.”

Time Travel/Bootstrap Paradox?

Time Travel/Bootstrap Paradox. A reply to somebody.

And that is what is known as the Bootstrap Paradox associated with almost all time travel. You can't go back and change anything if that change will always result in you not going back, or being able to go back, in the first place, etc. So you essentially can't ever go back and change anything ever, is what this theory/paradox amounts to really, etc. Since it will always create a different or alternate future always, etc. But I don't think any of this really matters at all anyway, as I don't think it will ever be possible in the first place, etc. "Time travel", etc. Even faster than light travel can't ever do it, etc. But I also don't know what would or could happen if you could go into a black hole maybe? Or could somehow manage to survive and also escape going into a black hole ever really? But that is only because, right now, nobody can know not one single thing about that right now currently, etc. Because even if that could take you somewhere else in the universe near instantly, the universe still always stays the same age/time equally everywhere really, etc.

Comments?

God Bless.

The Sabbath: God’s Eternal Sign — Creation, Covenant, and the Final Conflict

Part 1: The Prophecy About Changing Times and Law

Introduction

This study is the result of a long history of people choosing to change what God clearly commanded. One of the biggest changes made by religious leaders was replacing the seventh-day Sabbath with Sunday worship. This change did not come from God or from Jesus, but from man's own decisions, based on misunderstood verses in the book of Acts and later traditions.

Some people claim that Jesus rose on the first day of the week (Sunday), so the Sabbath was changed. Others point to a few verses in Acts where the disciples gathered on the first day—but in truth, those verses never say the Sabbath was changed or canceled. The apostles, especially the original twelve, never taught such a thing.

The only one who ever spoke of changing “times and law” was the prophetic warning in the book of Daniel, which we now examine.

The Prophetic Warning

In a vision, Daniel saw a power that would rise in the world and act against God’s will. This power would do three things:
  1. Speak against God.
  2. Persecute God’s people.
  3. Try to change God’s set times and law.

“He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time.”
Daniel 7:25 (NKJV)
This is very serious. God’s law is holy and eternal. It cannot be changed by man. Yet, this prophecy warns that someone would try to change it.

Now look closely—only one part of the Ten Commandments involves time, and that is the Sabbath:
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God… For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth… and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.”
Exodus 20:8–11 (NKJV)
God Himself created the Sabbath at the very beginning of the world. He rested on the seventh day and blessed it. He did not give this day to a certain people only—it was made for all mankind.
When Jesus came, He confirmed the Sabbath, He kept it, and He taught others how to keep it properly—not with man’s burdens, but with truth and mercy.
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.”
Matthew 5:17 (NKJV)

“As His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day.”
Luke 4:16 (NKJV)

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”
Mark 2:27–28 (NKJV)
Even when Jesus warned about future dangers, He said:
“And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath.”
Matthew 24:20 (NKJV)

After His death, His disciples still kept the Sabbath faithfully:
“And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.”
Luke 23:56 (NKJV)
“On the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made.”
Acts 16:13 (NKJV)

There is no verse where Jesus or His twelve disciples said the Sabbath was changed to Sunday. Yet, as Daniel warned, a power would try to change God’s time and law.

Part 2: God Does Not Change – The Law Stands Forever

The reason this change is so dangerous is because God does not change, and His law does not change. He is the same from the beginning to the end.
“For I am the Lord, I do not change.”
Malachi 3:6 (NKJV)

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above… with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”
James 1:17 (NKJV)

The Ten Commandments are a reflection of God’s character. They were spoken by God, written by His own finger, and placed in the Ark of the Covenant.
“And He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.”
Exodus 31:18 (NKJV)
“There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel.”
1 Kings 8:9 (NKJV)
These laws are not temporary. They were written on stone, not parchment, to show they are permanent. They are part of God's everlasting covenant.

In the book of Revelation, we see a vision of heaven, and the Ark of the Covenant appears—after Jesus’ resurrection and at the end of time. This shows God's covenant still exists and still matters:
“Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple.”
Revelation 11:19 (NKJV)

We also see that the people who remain faithful in the end are described this way:
“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”
Revelation 14:12 (NKJV)

They do not follow man’s traditions or changes. They keep God’s commandments and the true faith of Jesus.

Finally, we see that even in the new earth, people will still come to worship God every Sabbath:
“And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.
Isaiah 66:23 (NKJV)
This proves that the Sabbath was not for a time only—it will be part of eternity with God.

Final Words

The prophecy in Daniel 7:25 has been fulfilled in history by religious systems that tried to replace God’s Sabbath with Sunday worship, based on a misreading of Scripture and a rejection of God’s unchanging law. But God’s word is clear. His Sabbath is holy. His commandments are everlasting. And His people in the end will be those who refuse to follow man’s changes and choose to follow what God said from the beginning.

Liberty to pay Jerry Falwell Jr. $15 million in settlement after high-profile resignation

Liberty University has agreed to pay its former president, Jerry Falwell Jr., $15 million as part of a settlement agreement following his resignation and a sex scandal.

Although the two parties announced a settlement last year, the details of the agreement between the prominent Evangelical Christian institution and Falwell had remained undisclosed.

On Tuesday, USA Today reported that a tax form shows that the Lynchburg, Virginia-based university is set to pay Falwell around $5.5 million to settle litigation and about $9.7 million for his retirement package.

Got to pray Compline with the Trappists tonight

The RCIF (a spinoff of RCIA that my parish does for whole families) team took a group of our catechumens to the Abbey of New Clairvaux today, it's a Trappist Monastery about 25mins north of me. They've become pretty famous for their award winning winery, and a few years ago they completed a decades-long project to rebuild the 10th century chapter house from Santa Maria de Ovila in Spain here in California.

Anyway, I didn't realize part of our visit included joining the brothers for Compline. We waited in the chapter house and then they filed in, chanted the antiphons and then the Abbott, Fr Paul Mark, did the asperges. Hearing the voices of the brothers reverberate on those 1,100 year old walls just transported me, and made me think about how the true faith is timeless. It also kind of reignited an interest in me possibly joining the lay Cistercians.

I also didn't know this but they have first degree relics of Saint Francis and Saint Therese of Lisieux behind the organ, and we were all allowed check out the reliquary. I laid a hand on it, my wife and I wanna go back with our rosaries and touch them to it. My friend told me that one of the brothers said they all lay a hand on the reliquary every day and ask Saints Francis and Therese to guide their prayers.

I wanted to take video but I was trying to keep my two year old quiet (unsuccessfully).

Consultation on Heart Priorities

What do you think, according to the Word?

If there is something that isn't necessarily sinful but distances us from God... should we completely rid ourselves of it in our lives, or could we consider the challenge of establishing its proper place in our hearts so that it doesn't interfere with our relationship with God?
If possible, how could the latter be achieved?
Thank you. Blessings.

parable for our time

A battle-hardened governor strode past a pastor tending a wilted garden, scoffing, “Prayers and wilted blooms won’t feed your people.”

The pastor held up a stubborn root. “This seed,” she said, “died in politics and rose in compassion.” She planted it in richer soil.

Weeks later, the governor returned to find a single green shoot breaking through the dirt. The pastor bowed her head. “Conserving what matters,” she whispered, “begins with caring, not conquering.”

In that quiet moment, the governor paused, and realized that stewardship of earth and soul demands more than power.

Colorado's new trans law 'punishes' those who disagree, 'compels' speech: lawsuit

The national grassroots organization Defending Education is suing the state of Colorado over a new law making it a discriminatory act to refuse to call trans-identifying individuals by their chosen name, among other provisions that have sparked concerns about free speech and parental rights.

Defending Education filed a joint lawsuitMonday on behalf of Colorado Parent Advocacy Network, Protect Kids Colorado, Do No Harm and Dr. Travis Morrell over House Bill 25-1312, which was signed into law by Democratic Gov. Jared Polis last Friday.

Nicki Neily, the founder and president of Defending Education, believes that the new law "compels speech on sex and gender and punishes citizens who disagree."

Are the Gospels made up, non-historical accounts?

Q: Some of my non-Catholic friends say that most of the Gospel is made up, as the earliest records show Jesus survived the crucifixion, married Mary Magdalene and moved away, leaving his disciples to carry on their new religious movement. They say the Church was well aware of all of this, but covered it up. I’ve never heard anything like this. Could you comment?

A: I have heard various statements like this over the years in different contexts as attempts to supposedly refute Christianity in general. But in my mind, a basic knowledge of history and a bit of logical, common-sense reasoning makes such assertions seem far less plausible.

US Senate confirms convicted/pardoned felon Charles Kushner as ambassador to France

US Senate confirms Charles Kushner as ambassador to France

Father of president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner was previously pardoned by Trump from tax evasion conviction

The elder Kushner’s confirmation late on Monday came a little more than four years after Trump, during his first presidency, pardoned him from his conviction on charges of tax evasion and other federal crimes.

He pleaded guilty in 2005 to 18 charges that included tax evasion, retaliating against a federal witness and making false statements to the Federal Election Commission. The witness tampering charge involved his hiring a sex worker to seduce his brother-in-law, who was cooperating with federal authorities. Kushner arranged to secretly record the encounter between the sex worker and his brother-in-law and then send the footage to his sister, the other man’s wife.

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, a Republican, prosecuted Kushner at the time. Christie called Kushner’s case “one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes” he had ever prosecuted.

Church of England may get its first female archbishop of Canterbury

A female bishop may become the first woman to hold the position of archbishop of Canterbury in the Church of England, according to odds posted by British betting firms.

Guli Francis-Dehqani, bishop of Chelmsford, has emerged as the leading candidate to become the next archbishop of Canterbury. British betting firms have placed her as the early favorite to succeed the Rev. Justin Welby, who stepped down in January.

Francis-Dehqani's odds were placed at evens and 2 to 1 by the firms Ladbrokes and Star Sports, according to The Telegraph. If selected, she would become the 106th archbishop of Canterbury and the first woman to hold the office.

"Stain of Biden Coverup"

Brit Hume Describes How ‘Stain’ Of Biden Cover-Up Will Affect ‘Whole Generation Of Democratic Politicians’

Brit Hume said Monday on Fox News that the fallout from former President Joe Biden’s coverup will haunt an entire generation of Democratic Party leaders.
Biden’s office said Sunday that he was diagnosed with aggressive, bone-spreading prostate cancer, amid renewed scrutiny over a reported cover-up by aides and media figures to hide his physical and mental decline—claims detailed in the upcoming book “Original Sin” by CNN anchor Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson. During an appearance on “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Hume pointed to a parade of high-ranking Democrats and Biden officials now claiming ignorance of the president’s condition.
“I think they’re very real, and I think, you know, a lot of Democrats have a lot to answer for, because they were trying to cover up.
something that, as I said before, was trying to hide something that was unhideable,” Hume said. “So, you know, there’s a whole generation of Democratic politicians who have to answer for this, who are all going around saying, now, ‘Gee, I never knew.’”
Jake Tapper & Alex Thompson - you can't claim right wing conspiracy. How do they recover from lying to the American public non stop for three years?

PLEASE NOTE: This thread is about the report from left leaning reporters on how everyone covered up Joe's declining health and mental ability for three years. The Current President has NO place in this thread and I am asking Moderators to please clean off topic posts. Thank you.

We Must Give Account

“Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:11-13 ESV)

“The rest” being spoken of here is God’s eternal rest for those who have believed in Jesus Christ, who have died with him to sin, and who are walking in obedience to his commands, in practice. It is salvation from sin and eternal life with God by God-gifted and God-persuaded faith in the Lord, resulting in us being crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but now as slaves to God and to his righteousness (see Romans 6:1-23).

The Scriptures make it clear all throughout the New Testament writings, in the teachings of Christ and of his New Testament apostles, that a mere profession of faith in the Lord with our lips will gain none of us entry into God’s heaven. We must die with Christ to sin, not just once, but daily, in practice, and we must obey our Lord and his commandments (New Covenant), in practice. For if sin is our practice, and not obedience to our Lord’s commands, then we will not inherit eternal life with God.

So many people today are teaching a gospel message absent of death to sin and of walks of obedience to our Lord’s commands. But they are necessary components and results of believing faith which comes from God and which is persuaded of God, and which is not of our own doing, not of human flesh. So they are selling the gospel short, and they are teaching the people lies which are giving them a false hope of salvation from sin and of eternal life with God. For biblical faith = obedience, and disobedience = unbelief.

And these lies largely come from Scriptures being taught out of context and twisted to say what they do not say if taught in the appropriate context. And this is why it is so critical that we be students of the Scriptures who study them for ourselves, in the right context, and under the direction of the Holy Spirit, so that we are getting the truth and not the lies. We must never rely on any human solely as our teacher of the Scriptures, for not everyone teaches the truth, and many are they who are spreading lies, instead.

But if we read the Scriptures for ourselves, in the appropriate context, preferably chapter by chapter, and verse by verse until we are well versed in the Scriptures and their teachings, we might, like I did, realize the things that we were taught wrong, and we might realize the truth that we did not get, and that we did not understand when we were reading the Scriptures out of context. And then we might come under the conviction of the Holy Spirit of our need to change course, to repent of sins, and to obey God.

For it is impossible for us to read the Scriptures in their full context and for us to walk away from them believing that a verbal profession of faith in Jesus Christ is enough to save us from our sins and to assure us heaven when we die. The only way we can do that is if our hearts are hardened to God and to his word and so we refuse to believe the Scriptures because we want to continue in our sins. For the Word of God is going to convict us of any deliberate and habitual sins and move us to repent and to obey God.

And all of us in the end are going to have to give an account to God for what we did with his gospel message and with our lives and for how we lived them, either for the flesh and in sin and in disobedience to God, or for the Lord in death to sin and in walks of obedience to our Lord in fellowship with him and in being and doing what he has called us to be and to do. Did we serve him with our lives? Or did we serve the flesh, instead? Was obedience to God our practice? Or was it disobedience, apathy, and selfishness?

I come before You, Lord, my Savior,
With humble heart and crushed in spirit.
I bow before You, I implore You,
Heal my broken heart, I pray.
Love You, Jesus, Lord, my master,
You are the King of my heart.
Lord, purify my heart within me;
Sanctify me, whole within.

Oh, Lord, I long to obey fully
The words You’ve spoken through Your Spirit.
I pray You give me grace and mercy,
Strength and wisdom to obey.
Father God, my heart’s desire,
Won’t You set my heart on fire?
Lord, cleanse my heart of all that hinders
My walk with You, now I pray.

Oh, Jesus, Savior, full of mercy,
My heart cries out for understanding.
I want to follow You in all ways,
Never straying from Your truth.
Holy Spirit, come in power,
Fill me with Your love today.
Lord, mold and make me;
Your hands formed me;
Live Your life through me, I pray.

Catholicism abstinence and peadophilia

I sometimes wonder why so many Catholic priests become peadophiles and the logical reasoning to me is that abstinence is a doorway to peadophile behaviours. does abstinence make a person any more pure or pious. No, all priests should be encouraged to marry and live normal lives, just like the rest of us

At least 38 killed by Israeli strikes in Gaza in half-hour period, medics say

At least 38 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli air strikes across the Gaza Strip during a half-hour period overnight, according to Palestinian medics.

Israeli warplanes struck several locations, including a school in eastern Gaza City, and an abandoned fuel station sheltering displaced families in central Gaza's Nuseirat refugee camp, according to the Hamas-run civil defence agency.

It added that rescue teams were facing major difficulties reaching the wounded due to a lack of equipment and the intensity of the bombardment.

The attack comes after Israel issued a sweeping evacuation order for civilians in Gaza in preparation for what it said was an "unprecedented attack".
