  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Mom of murdered gay man sues his employer (the ACLJ) and its leader, Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow, for allegedly tampering with evidence and negligence

The evangelical Christian lawyer who led the defense team in President Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial is accused of trying to cover up the murder of one of his organization’s employees by a New York City gang that preyed on gay men, after which he and his adult son allegedly tampered with evidence and impeded the police investigation into the 2022 killing.

In a $20 million-plus lawsuit filed Wednesday in Manhattan Supreme Court and obtained by The Independent, Linda Clary Umberger claims attorney Jay Sekulow and his son, Jordan, not only misled the cops about her son’s murder, but also blocked her from collecting an insurance payout she had hoped to receive following his death.

Clary Umberger's suit paints the Sekulows’ alleged actions as an attempt to conceal the fact that they had hired a gay man to establish a local base for their faith-based legal nonprofit, the American Center for Law and Justice, in a sumptuous townhouse near Central Park.

On Thursday, attorney Michael Bowe, who represents Jay and Jordan Sekulow, denied the allegations in Clary Umberger’s complaint.

On the night of May 27, 2022, [son John] Umberger and some friends went out to a Midtown Manhattan gay bar called The Q, where two men, Jacob Barroso and Jayqwan Hamilton drugged him with lidocaine and fentanyl-laced cocaine and led him back to the ACLJ townhouse. [He died there of the drugs and was days later discovered by ACLJ employees.]

Clary Umberger alleges in her suit that the ACLJ townhouse “lacked security,” without cameras inside or outside, or security personnel on-site.

[The suit] says Jordan “insisted” there had been “no foul play” and told her that her son had died of natural causes. Yet, the complaint contends, he began telling ACLJ personnel that John had died “of a self-induced ‘overdose.’”

What’s more, Clary Umberger alleges that the Sekulows’ or their employee “cleaned up” the crime scene before calling police to report her son’s death [and the] misleading assertion also led NYPD detectives to initially treat Umberger’s death as a non-criminal matter.

[The perps have been convicted in the deaths of Umberger and another gay man and sentenced to decades in prison.]

Obviously this all has to be viewed through the lens of "claims in a lawsuit".

Trump Needs to Get Real on Trade

The roller coaster that is President Donald Trump’s trade war steamed ahead this week. On Wednesday, a federal district court dealt a major blow to Trump when it ruled that his sweeping global tariffs were illegal. On Thursday, an appeals court ruled the levies could remain in place for now. And then, on Friday, Trump accused China of violating a preliminary trade deal and suggested he would respond. As all this unfolds and the U.S. legal system lumbers toward a final verdict, one thing is clear: the White House needs to get a real trade strategy, and fast. --TIME
It should be noted at the half way point of the 90 deals in 90 days ( <--- Trump team own words) there has not been ONE trade deal solidified.

Not one. Not one country.

White House convenes meeting with more than a dozen agencies to brainstorm new measures to fight the greatest scourge facing the nation

The Trump administration is escalating its campaign against Harvard University — and looking for new ways to bring the storied institution to heel.

The White House convened officials from nearly a dozen agencies on Wednesday to brainstorm additional punitive measures, according to one administration official and a second person familiar with the meeting, who were granted anonymity to share details. The administration official said that forthcoming actions are expected from the State, Treasury, Health and Human Services and Justice departments, among others, and could happen as early as next month.

Another shake-up at ICE as agency lags behind quotas; two more top officials removed

ICE officials ousted amid demands for more immigrant arrests

The ousted officials are Kenneth Genalo, ICE's enforcement and removal director [retiring], and Robert Hammer, the Department of Homeland Security's investigations director [shuffled elsewhere] who has handled particularly complex cases involving criminal immigrants.

The changes come a week after top Trump aide Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem demanded that ICE seek to arrest 3,000 people a day — triple what agents were arresting in the early days of the administration.

Agents did bring in 1,600 the day before the leadership changes — a substantial rise but not close to Miller and Noem's goal, people familiar with the agency's internal data said.

  • Earlier this year Noem reassigned ICE's director and deputy director.
  • They were replaced with ICE veteran Todd Lyons and Madison Sheehan, who was previously a political staffer of Noem's. Some insiders believe Lyons' job might also be at risk now.

This insistence on quantity over quality is why we're seeing sick children (even citizens) kicked out of the country.
The FBI is turning its eyes away from domestic terrorism and reassigning agents to immigration duties.
The new budget looks like it will have billions in additional spending to pay to house all these people.

Musk's Government Slashing Took Place When He Was Under the Influence of Ketamine, Ecstasy, Adderall, and More

Citing “people familiar with his activity,” The New York Times reports that the tech mogul has been consuming ketamine sometimes daily, often mixing it with other drugs. His usage allegedly increased as he took on a more active political role—first as a prominent supporter of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, and later as the de facto head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)...
Musk also allegedly uses Ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and weight loss drugs, and travels with a daily medication box that holds about 20 pills, including ones with the markings of the stimulant Adderall, according to a photo of the box and people who have seen it.

In a 2024 interview with Don Lemon, Musk acknowledged that he uses ket9amine as a prescribed treatment for negative moods, but denied that he indulged in the drug.
The buck should stop with the president, who gave him sweeping powers with no accountability. (I guess he didn't become a federal employee because he couldn't pass the drug tests.) If only we could undo all the damage he's done before 2029.

Predictions About Noth Amrican Protestantism, and the Intellect

*** Warning.
This is a thread about the orientation of different theologies, and some of these
these theologies will not agree with my characterization, as they may claim to have
an ariiention toward the intellect, that is different then what I see. Or, they may
use different definitions of the "intellect" than most American Protestants use....

I THINK THAT IT IS BETTER TO OPENLY DISCUSS THE TOPIC of the Intellect, than to continue
to use different definitions, while everyone supposes that they are talking are talking
the same thing.

I am NOT talking about words that necessarily have multiple valid disctionary definitions.
Example: There is a difference between the English meaning of dog, the animal, and
"dog" as in a beaten up car.

Example: one must be using the biblical language oa the Bible (Hebrew/Aramaic),
and New Teatament Greek. Trying to do high quality Bible study off some English
translaiton of the Bible is studying A TRANSLATION OF THE BIBLE the Bible, AND NOT STUDYING THE
BIBLE.

In God I Have Put My Trust

“Be gracious to me, O God, for man has trampled upon me;
Fighting all day long he oppresses me.
2 My foes have trampled upon me all day long,
For they are many who fight proudly against me.
3 When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in You.
4 In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.
What can mere man do to me?” (Psalm 56:1-4 NASB1995)

The Scriptures teach us, who have put our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus, that we will be hated and persecuted as Jesus was hated and persecuted, and that evil people will do evil things to us, sometimes because they are evil people who do wicked things to other people, and sometimes because of our walks of faith in the Lord Jesus and our testimonies for him and for his gospel truth. And these wicked people could be our own relatives or our neighbors or church pastors or elders, many of whom profess faith in Jesus.

But behind these evil people is Satan who is out to attack all whose lives are committed to following the Lord Jesus, and who are speaking the truth of the gospel in contrast to the lies which are so popular today. For Satan wants us silenced, and he is hoping that he can stop us, discourage us, make us afraid, and get us to stop trusting in the Lord and in his gospel message, so that we will cease with speaking the truth of the gospel and with refuting his lies which have become so widely accepted here in America (USA) today.

So, if or if not we believe in Jesus, we may be trampled upon by other humans. But in this context this is speaking of the enemies of those whose lives are committed to serving the Lord. And, again, the enemies spoken of here may be others who also profess faith in Jesus Christ but who are following after the ways of the world and the thinking of humans, and whose trust is in the lies of Satan and in marketing schemes which teach them how to attract the ungodly to their gatherings by doing what the world enjoys.

So, when we are being persecuted for our walks of faith in obedience to our Lord, and because we speak the truth, and not the lies, we are to call out to God in our distress, and lean on him and on his support, and trust him with our circumstances, believing in his sovereignty over our lives. And we are to recall that he promised us that these days would come and that we are not to be afraid of suffering for the sake of our faith in the Lord. For through suffering we learn obedience, we are humbled, and we grow to maturity.

What can mere man do to us? Just about anything that they determine in their hearts to do against us, but only as God allows it and as he puts limits on it. And why does God allow evil people to do evil things to us? Because to stop all evil he would have to do away with all human life, and because through what we suffer, if we trust in the Lord in our suffering, we learn determination, perseverance, spiritual maturity, obedience to God, and compassion for others who are also suffering at the hands of evil people.

These were God’s words to Jeremiah, which we can also apply to our situations today if our lives are surrendered to the Lord to doing his will:

“Now, gird up your loins and arise, and speak to them all which I command you. Do not be dismayed before them, or I will dismay you before them. Now behold, I have made you today as a fortified city and as a pillar of iron and as walls of bronze against the whole land, to the kings of Judah, to its princes, to its priests and to the people of the land. They will fight against you, but they will not overcome you, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 1:17-19 NASB1995)

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

Ordering creation for good? Serving others for goodness' sake.

Great men, such as David and Solomon, great kings and national heroes such as Augustus Caesar, men of great moral weight such a Nelson Mandela, these all inspire many stories and even more people. Gandhi moved hundreds of millions. The saints inspire billions. But who moves humanity to change and heals this broken world?

German archdiocese distances itself from controversial performance in cathedral

The performance was intended to be part of official celebrations marking the 1,250th anniversary of Westphalia. It featured a woman and a half-naked man wielding scythes followed by a second shirtless man who entered with a bowl full of plucked chickens wrapped in diapers.

The performers made the dead animals “walk” by their hands through the altar area while they sang “Fleisch ist Fleisch” (“Meat is meat”) to the tune of the 1984 pop song “Live is Life” by Austrian band Opus.

The official statement further noted that the cathedral had “frequently been the site of high-level cultural events in the past.”

Regarding the controversial performance, the archdiocese stated: “The specific content and design of this program segment was not known in advance to those responsible either on the organizers’ side or at the venue.” Looking ahead, the archdiocese announced: “We take the reactions to the performance very seriously and have already begun reviewing our internal procedures.”

Cardinal Robert Sarah given appointment by Pope Leo XIV

Sarah was famously at odds with Pope Francis over several issues, and once came under fire for suggesting that he had co-authored a book with Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, which condemned proposals to end priestly celibacy just as Francis himself was considering those proposals, thereby appearing to pit Benedict and Francis as being at odds, reports Crux, the Herald’s Rome-based partner publication.
It notes that Sarah has been an avid supporter of the Traditional Latin Mass, which Pope Francis restricted, adding that though Sarah was allowed to remain in leadership by Francis, his hands were effectively tied until he retired promptly upon reaching the age of 75 in 2021.

Very encouraging.

Australian woman visiting US Service-husband in Honolulu detained with murderers for her clothes and tattoos! Can you smell the FREEDOM!?

DO NOT HAVE TATOOS or TOO MANY CLOTHES!
An Australian woman trying to holiday in Honolulu to meet American husband (serving in US military) is detained for having "too many clothes". (See - this Einstein decided she was planning to overstay her visa! ;-) ) Her tattoos made them wonder if she was in a "gang". Strip searched, cavity searched, then detained overnight without a meal (just because she missed dinnertime), but with murderers, and sent back home to Australia. Over clothes and tattoos. Nope - no fascism here people! Nothing to see! Move along! Move along!

Resurrection

When we think of the resurrection we usually think of it as an event, but in St. John 11:25 Jesus tells us that He is the resurrection.
1st John 3:2 says, 'but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is'.
So we can understand that the resurrection is also a process.
We often talk of what God has done in the past and what he will do in the future but are we in tune to what God is doing right now?
Are we in the process, being molded and shaped to meet the resurrection?

Rasmussen poll shows Americans most optimistic about the direction of country in nearly 20 years

As much as pundits may try to wish it away, public opinion is shifting. These numbers are a clear reminder that conventional media narratives often miss the mark and that voters, not headlines, will shape the future of American politics.

Many Americans are tired of being fooled by the American media.

Justice Department tells American Bar Association it will no longer comply with ratings for judicial nominees

The ABA, established in the late 1800s, has grown into a sprawling organization that touts a membership of over 400,000 legal workers.
But it has sparked criticism from Republicans, including members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, previously blasted the ABA as a "radical left-wing advocacy group."

I am encouraged by this. The ABA did not sanction the judges that went after Trump and made a mockery of the law and Constitution. I think the ABA should be replaced.

Russian drone attacks on Ukrainians amount to crimes against humanity, UN investigators report

“Russian armed forces have committed the crimes against humanity of murder and the war crimes of attacking civilians, through a months-long pattern of drone attacks targeting civilians on the right bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Province,” the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine said.

Attacks have been carried out since July 2024 in Kherson city and 16 localities stretching over more than 100 kilometres in riverfront areas under Ukrainian Government control.

Furthermore, ambulances also have been targeted and struck by drones to prevent them from reaching victims, and some have died because they could not get to a medical facility in time.

“The Commission therefore concludes that Russian armed forces perpetrated the war crime of intentionally directing attacks against civilians in Kherson Province,” it said, while “posting videos of civilians being killed and injured amounts to the war crime of outrages upon personal dignity.”

Former Connecticut Gov. Rowland receives pardon from President Trump for federal corruption and campaign fraud

Rowland, a Republican, resigned less than halfway through his third term as governor in 2004 after an investigation was opened into federal corruption.

He served 10 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to accepting gifts and favors from state contractors.

Ten years later, he was put on trial for campaign fraud and was sentenced to 30 months in prison. He was released in 2018.

“What it means not just for John Rowland, but for a lot of crooked politicians who may have skirted the line, Taken bribes committed corruption is that that they can actually get away with those kinds of white collar crimes. And so I think it just sends a very bad message,” said UConn American History chair Manisha Sinha.

I mean, accepting bribes is sort of a victimless crime when you think about it. Two parties get what they want in a mutually beneficial transaction.
