  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When we think of the resurrection we usually think of it as an event, but in St. John 11:25 Jesus tells us that He is the resurrection.
1st John 3:2 says, 'but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is'.
So we can understand that the resurrection is also a process.
We often talk of what God has done in the past and what he will do in the future but are we in tune to what God is doing right now?
Are we in the process, being molded and shaped to meet the resurrection?

Perhaps he was talking about the resurrection of the spirt as Paul was in Ephesians 2:

Ephesians 2:1-6 KJV
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

The resurrection is about our spirits being reunited with their new sinless (i.e., spiritual) immortal physical bodies, as in Christ's resurrection body.

Our sinful bodies are not being changed now, we will have immortal and sinless bodies at the resurrection.

St. John the eleventh chapter deals with the raising of Lazarus I don't think it has to do with discipleship.

I expect you would agree that a person must be born again, that is a change.
True these mortal bodies cannot inherit immortality but scripture talks about being justified, sanctified and sealed in unto the day of redemption. So things are not static there is a process and that process is Christ likeness through which we expect to see Him as He is. John 3:2

Not their physical body which will be resurrected at the second coming.
Rebirth is of one's spirit, from eternal death into eternal life at the sovereign new birth by the Holy Spirit (Jn 3:3-5), who is as unaccountable as the wind (Jn 3:6-8) in his sovereignty.
