Trump says he's considering rebate checks for Americans based on tariff revenue

The federal government has collected about $100 billion in tariff revenue since the Trump administration instituted its higher import duties earlier this year, which could increase to $300 billion per year, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox Business' "Mornings with Maria" on Tuesday.

With Indonesia and the Philippines agreeing to zero tariffs on our country but paying tariffs of 19% on exports I expect more and more countries to cut a deal. But I would be more comfortable paying off the debt. Imagine if the Democrats took over again--the debt would be out of control and our country might never recover.

Tens of thousands flee their homes as Thailand and Cambodia clash

SURIN, Thailand — Tens of thousands of people sought refuge as border fighting between Thailand and Cambodia entered its third day Saturday, heightening fears of an extended conflict with the total death toll reaching 32.

The U.N. Security Council held an emergency meeting behind closed doors later Friday in New York, while Malaysia, which chairs the 10-nation regional bloc that includes both countries, called for an end to hostilities and offered to mediate.

"The call is coming from inside the house," said Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro. "If this happened to these big banks, to these Fortune 500, brand-name, quintessential American companies, it can or is happening at your company."

White traditional Christians and moms at school boards are not our nation's biggest threats. Notice that China was involved. The Biden administration allowed many many Chinese men of military age to enter our country and what happened to most we do not know. I would bet they use stolen identities and have infiltrated our tech and defense companies as well as universities.

Glory to king Jesus

Shalom

Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you came so that we might have life and live abundantly (John 10:10).

Thank you that you became poor for me (2 Corinthians 8:9).

I ask you, Heavenly Father, according to your word, as written in 2 Corinthians 9:8, for your grace to make my finances overflow so that I can live a healthy life, that those around me are blessed, and that I can build your kingdom, to your thanks and glory in Jesus' name, Amen.

Soli Deo Gloria

Thank you, Lord Jesus, you paid for this with your precious blood so that I may receive it as a gift.

Praised be to you forever and ever, Amen!

Two high-ranking NOAA employees connected to 'Sharpiegate' investigation put on leave

Stephen Volz, the assistant administrator of NOAA’s Satellite and Information Service, and Jeff Dillen, a deputy general counsel at NOAA, were placed on leave Thursday morning, Volz told NBC News.

“The letter itself gave no information about the cause. It said, ‘You are on administrative leave pending an investigation into your recent public conduct,’” Volz said Friday, adding that he had “no idea” what was being investigated.

Volz and Dillen were figures in the controversy during the first Trump presidency that came to be known as “Sharpiegate,” in which forecasters were rebuked for contradicting the president over a crude alteration to a hurricane map.

NOAA confirmed Friday that the two men had been placed on leave.

“Mr. Dillen was placed on administrative leave by the department’s senior career attorney pending a review of performance issues over the past several weeks,” Kim Doster, NOAA communications director, said in an emailed statement. “Separately, Dr. Volz was placed on administrative leave on an unrelated matter.”

The agency is without a leader as Neil Jacobs, President Donald Trump’s nominee, awaits Senate confirmation. NOAA’s spending is also under close review. The Trump administration has proposed deep cuts to the agency’s budget

[After Sharpiegate,] NOAA hired the National Academy of Public Administration to perform an independent assessment into allegations of scientific misconduct during the incident. The investigation found that Jacobs [acting administrator during Trump 1.0] violated NOAA’s ethics policies.

Volz wrote a final decision about the report for NOAA, which agreed with NAPA’s findings. [Dillen served as legal counsel.]

Texas GOP state Rep. Giovanni Capriglione admits affair, denies abortion allegations of exotic dancer, will not seek reelection

Texas GOP Rep. Giovanni Capriglione admits affair, denies abortion allegations

A conservative news site published an interview with a woman who alleges a 17-year affair with the Southlake representative, who said this week he wouldn’t seek reelection.

Three days after state Rep. Giovanni Capriglione announced he was dropping his reelection bid, the conservative news site Current Revolt published an interview with a former exotic dancer who alleges she had a 17-year affair with the Southlake Republican.

The woman, Alex Grace, alleges that Capriglione paid her for “meetups” and “funded several abortions for his own personal gain.” She declined to provide additional details on the alleged abortions in the interview, saying, “you’re just going to have to go with my word.”

Capriglione said he was “not above scrutiny,” but threatened legal action, seemingly against Current Revolt as well as Grace, for what he characterized as “lying and defaming me.”

Does Watching TV Cause Autism?

This classic column originally ran 31 July 2008. I edited it to provide a working link to the paper and to add the author’s Fig. 1.

I have no idea, but two gentlemen from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell and one from the Economics department at Purdue seem to think so. They have written a [peer-reviewed!] paper (second link) “Does television cause autism?”, which has found interest at Slate, which they boast as an “exclusive.”

Waldman’s (and others) paper, which is a couple of years old, is a prime example of how to get carried away with an idea, so it is worthwhile to review it. It’s best to download the paper so you can follow along (the paper is freely available).

The genesis of the idea was noticing that autism rates at birth in the state of California started to increase in the early 1970s, picking up pace until 2000, when their data stops (see their Figure 1).

Student Loan Forgiveness? Not without paying taxes on the "benefit."

We are talking about students who faithfully paid their "income-based" loan payments for a set period of time. If the student pays a suitable percentage of his income until the expiration period, the rest of the loan is forgiven.

But the Trump Administration is unforgiving--especially, as we all know, to the poor and middle-class. I don't see any wealthy entrepreneurs paying taxes on their pandemic loan forgiveness.

As of 2026, they will receive tax bills for the amount of the forgiven loan--estimated to cost them $7 to $12,000.

These little "gotchas" pass unnoticed...but when they are added up, any tax cuts will evaporate for the 99%. The Labor Department is making lots of worker-unfriendly changes. Stay tuned. I'll be looking them up.

By Some Other Way

“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.” (John 10:1-5 NASB1995)

Who are these thieves and robbers and strangers Jesus spoke of here? Some of them are pastors of “churches,” and teachers of the Scriptures, and “Christian” book authors, and evangelists, and many who profess faith in Jesus Christ with their lips but whose hearts are far from God and who are teaching a false gospel of human flesh and not of God. They are within the gatherings of the church, the body of Christ, but they did not enter by way of the cross of Christ, by death to sin, and by walks of obedience to God.

For they are teaching a very diluted and altered gospel message intended to tickle itching ears and to not offend sinful flesh. They are teaching that all we have to do is to “pray a prayer to receive Christ” or to acknowledge that Jesus Christ was our sin offering for us on that cross, and that he rose from the dead, and now we are saved for eternity and heaven is our eternal destiny. And not only do they not mention the necessity of death to sin and obedience to God, but they say that no works are required of us by God.

But that is a lie of Satan who wants all people believing the lie so that they will join him in hell on the false promise of eternity in heaven with Christ/God. Generation upon generation, the people of this world have been fed this “cheap grace” gospel of human flesh, promising so many people that heaven is their eternal destiny based on a profession of faith in Jesus Christ or a mere acknowledgement of what they have been told he did for us on that cross, but with no repentance and obedience required.

So, if we are Jesus’ true sheep (his true followers), we will not listen to these voices which are saying that all we have to do is to pray a prayer to receive Christ and now we are good to go to heaven, no works required by God. But we will listen to the true Shepherd of the Sheep, Jesus Christ, who is also the door into a genuine faith relationship with him and to salvation from sin and to eternal life with God. And we will listen to the teachings of the New Testament apostles who taught the gospel of Christ in truth.

For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

By God-gifted faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to righteousness in walks of obedience to God’s commands. We are no longer to permit sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it results in sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (see Romans 6:1-23).

And we learn in 1 John 1-3 that if we claim that we have fellowship with God, but yet we walk in the darkness (sin), we are liars. And if we claim that we know God, but we do not obey his commandments, in practice, we are liars. For it is not the one who claims he is “in Christ” who is “in Christ,” but it is the one who has denied self, died with Christ to sin, and who is now walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, and no longer in sin, who has the hope and the promise of eternal life with God in heaven.

So, don’t believe the lies. All of us are going to have to stand before God one day and he is going to judge us, not by what we profess with our lips, but by our deeds, by what we do. All those who have given lip service to God only, but who continued in deliberate and habitual sin, and not in walks of obedience to God, they will not inherit eternal life with God. All those who, by faith in Christ, died to sin, and are walking in obedience to the Lord, in practice, will have salvation from sin and eternal life with God.

My sheep hear me. They know me.
They listen to my voice and obey.
I call them and lead them.
They know my voice, so they follow me.
They will never follow strangers.
They will run away from them.
The voice of a stranger they know not;
They do not follow him.

So, I tell you the truth that
I am the gate, so you enter in.
Whoever does enter
Will find forgiveness and will be saved.
Nonetheless whoever enters
Not by the gate; other way,
He is the thief and a robber.
Listen not, the sheep to him.

Oh, I am the Good Shepherd,
Who laid his own life down for the sheep.
I know them. They know me.
They will live with me eternally.
The thief only comes to steal and
Kill and to destroy the church.
I have come to give you life that
You may have it to the full…

They know my voice, so they follow me.

I Unfriended My Nieces' "Wife" on Facebook. How do you support without condoning something?

How do you support someone who's deep in sin, and doesn't seem bothered by it at all? Is prayer the only answer? I unfriended my niece's "wife" on Facebook. I'm hoping it doesn't provoke a hostile reaction. She was posting graphic, inappropriate stuff (in my opinion) that I have no desire to see. I love my niece, but I'm hoping she'll get out of this relationship for her own good. :(

Oregon can't force Christian woman to embrace LGBT ideology in order to adopt: 9th Circuit

Oregon officials cannot prevent a conservative Christian mother from adopting solely because she objects to LGBT ideology, a federal appeals court panel has ruled.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 on Thursday that Jessica Bates was wrongfully denied an adoption application by the Oregon Department of Human Services, reversing a lower court decision.

Circuit Judge Daniel A. Bress, a Trump appointee, authored the majority opinion, writing that Oregon was wrong to require adoptive parents to agree to "respect, accept, and support" the self-identified gender identity and sexual orientation of a child.

Swedenborgianism

Swedenborgianism is a sect I have always found particularly fascinating, probably because of how small and obscure they compared to other controversial groups like LDS and JWs. I've been studying it mostly out of curiosity.

The main reason why Swedenborgianism isn't considered a part of mainstream Christianity is that they have a different and understanding of God from Nicene Christianity. Idk what I'd label their view as, since one can argue them being anything from moralists, to partialists or Unitarians. Swedenborgians would say that they do believe in the Trinity, but not in the Nicene sense of three persons all being the same God.

To elaborate, Swedenborgians believe that (at least from what I can understand) Jesus Christ is both God and Man. They also believe he was born of a virgin. However, that is where their commonalities with Christians end. Swedenborgians reject the Father and the Holy Spirit a separate persons. They believe the Father refers to Christ's divine nature, the Son is his human nature, and his activity/power is the Holy Spirit.

The reason why some dispute them being modalists, is that moralists think God takes different modes (he was the Father in the OT, became the Son during the pre-Resurrection NT, and is now taking the form of the Holy Spirit.) Swedenborgians don't think Christ takes different modes.

While Swedenborgians do believe in the Resurrection, their understanding of it is still different from Nicene orthodoxy. They believe that Jesus really did rise from the dead, but he discarded the human body he got from Mary, and now has a divine human body.

As for Scripture, Swedenborgians generally take the Bible to be authoritative, but Emmanuel Swedenborg himself only regard the Gospels and Revelation as part of the New Testament Canon.

I don' fully understand their approach the Scripture, but it has something to do with correspondence and finding spiritual meaning in the text over a literalistic hermeneutic.

The Lord, My Salvation

8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in man.
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
Than to trust in princes.
14 The Lord is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.
28 You are my God, and I give thanks to You;
You are my God, I extol You.
29 Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness is everlasting. (Psalm 118 select verses NASB1995)

We live in a day and age when so many people are becoming followers of other humans instead of becoming followers of God (of Jesus Christ). Since we live in the age of computers and television and the internet, and other media outlets, we can get 24/7 media coverage on just about anyone of any level of importance or notoriety. And many people are becoming followers of public figures, instead of becoming followers of God, and this is sad.

Many people are treating other humans as though they are gods, as though they are their saviors who are going to rescue them from the evils of the world. They depend on other humans to tell them the truth instead of turning to God and to the Scriptures to get truth. Or they depend on internet memes to tell them the truth because memes are short and easy to read quickly, and they don’t involve research and studying, which takes time.

The internet is a strong influencer over people’s minds and their beliefs and ways of thinking. There is a lot of mind control going on via television and the internet and other media outlets. And if people of faith are addicted to the media, and if they are dependent on the media to get truth, then so many of them are subject to accepting lies in place of the truth, for the lies can be made to sound good, while the truth can be made to look evil.

But we who profess faith in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of our lives are not to put our dependency and trust in other humans who are bound to fail us. We are not to be looking to other humans to save us from what ails us as a people and as nations on this earth. For what ails us as nations are the sins of those who oppose God and his plan and purpose for our lives, and who do evil to one another, sometimes in the name of God, too.

What ails us as the nations of the earth is that so many people are rejecting God and his plan and purpose for our lives in favor of living their lives their own way, doing their own thing, even if that means deliberately and habitually sinning against God and against one another. And sadly this includes many people who profess faith in Jesus Christ, for their faith is man-created instead of God-created, and it appeases human flesh rather than putting flesh to death so that they can now serve God with their lives.

But God’s salvation, which he has for us, puts sin to death in our lives, and it transforms us, and it changes us so that our desire is now to obey God and to no longer walk in sin in disobedience to God. But if our faith does not do that, then it is not biblical faith. For if we are convinced that a mere profession of faith in Christ is enough to secure us heaven for when we die, but while we continue in deliberate and habitual sin, and not in walks of obedience to God, we have believed a lie and not the truth which saves our souls from hell, and which promises us eternal life with God in heaven.

Refiner’s Fire

By Brian Doerksen

Purify my heart,
let me be as gold and precious silver.
Purify my heart,
let me be as gold, pure gold.

Purify my heart,
cleanse me from within
and make me holy.
Purify my heart,
cleanse me from my sin, deep within.

Refiner's fire,
my heart's one desire
is to be holy;
set apart for You, Lord.
I choose to be holy;
set apart for You, my Master,
ready to do Your will.

Christian in Alaska

Hello, in need of fellowship, hoping to find some here. I live in the woods in Alaska, lost my husband of almost 38 years 2 1/2 years ago. Children all grown and married, only one son left in Alaska. Can't find a good church for fellowship, sadly, so many teach baby food, and often inaccurate baby food.

So basically looking for some fellowship, good Bible discussion, nice people, interaction. I'll make my profile more complete, find a picture or something.

Central Asia Pastor needs prayer.

Please pray for a 65-year-old pastor in the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan, who has recently been sentenced to three years in prison.

Pavel Shreider, who lives in the country’s capital, Bishkek, was arrested last November by members of the country’s secret police. Earlier this month he was convicted on charges of ‘inciting racial, ethnic, national, religious or regional hatred.’ He denies all charges and is preparing to appeal.

The indictment against the pastor stated that Shreider and other unidentified accomplices had ‘conceived of inciting religious hatred in order to undermine the integrity and security of the state.’ It went on to say he had ‘illegally organised a religious cell, based on the principles of Protestant Christianity, in which he exerted a manipulative influence on church members, as well as through religious literature that is negatively aggressive in nature towards other religions.’

Kyrgyzstan is one of a cluster of Central Asian countries that gained its independence in the early 1990s, following the collapse of the former Soviet Union. The country’s constitution provides for freedom of religion.

Release International’s partner said, ‘For many years now it has been impossible to register a single new church in Kyrgyzstan; and as for previously registered communities, their legal legitimacy is currently under great threat, due to the adoption of new legislative acts.’ He added, ‘I sincerely ask all caring Christians to pray diligently for brother Pavel Shreider, as well as for the church in Kyrgyzstan.’

Pray:
  • for Pastor Pavel Shreider: in particular for a successful appeal against his sentencing;
  • for his congregation and other Christian churches who may feel under pressure in Kyrgyzstan at this time;
  • for God to continue building his kingdom in Kyrgyzstan.

Venezuelan Baseball Team denied entry into US

They had qualified to play in the Senior League (ages 13-16) Baseball World Series and now will be replaced by a team from Mexico, who finished as runner up to the Venezuelans. The denial is based on Trump's invocation of the Alien Enemies Act and Executive Order that prevents people from Venezuela (and other countries) from entering the US; as Venezuelans are, per Trump's comments, terrorists and enemies to the US.

Obama admin subverted incoming President with fake intelligence - Media played along

this is really funny to me

in 2017, when there were ambiguous claims leaked by Obama admin intelligence agencies about Trump-Russia collusion, it turned into years of media headlines, everything was another piece in the puzzle, slowly closing in on the great conspiracy of how the Trump admin was in league with Putin in winning the 2016 election.

I remember this time well. Trump-Russia collusion was all anyone talked about for 3 years. It was supposedly the biggest scandal in U.S. history, and media was obsessed with it. (they gave themselves Pulitzer prizes for their reporting! lol)

So... the Trump-Russia thing was all a lie, of course.

But look at the contrast with today.

The Director of National Intelligence ( a former democrat until just a couple years ago) comes out with straightforward allegations that the Obama admin used fake intelligence to subvert the incoming President. An extremely scandalous claim.

And if you scroll across the legacy media landscape, it's like nothing even happened. None of them are the least bit curious about if it's true or not.

With Trump-Russia, the slightest innuendo of whiff of something drove those outlets into hysterics. "Trump's son met with a Russian once! WOW!!! The walls are closing in!" Every little thing was a major headline.

Every time someone in the Trump orbit was shown to have shaken hands with a Russian, the media went into a frenzy at how it was all coming together.

You all remember it, don't you?

Now they are trying to cover themselves and say "All we ever said was that Russians were meddling in the election!" hahaha,

as if the whole affair wasn't constantly framed around the Trump admin colluding with Russia,

as if the Trump administration itself wasn't constantly under investigation for Russian collusion that whole time.

the attempt to memory-hole all of that is truly impressive, I must say.

of course, they have to do this because of what DNI Gabbard revealed.

specifically - intelligence community consensus shifted from "Russia is not a threat to our election" right before the 2016 election...

and then right after the election, Obama suddenly ordered a new IC report that concluded "Russia subverted our election to help Trump win", (even despite warnings from their own analysts that they were using bad intel.)

and all of Obama's IC heads then pushed that narrative for years afterward, knowing there was nothing to it.

it looks really bad, doesn't it?

Friendship between CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien to hit big screen in animated film: 'Art gets better in community'

A feature-length animated film bringing to life the deep friendship and creative fellowship between C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, the minds behind The Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings, respectively, is in the works.

Filmmaker Aaron Burns, founder of the independent film studio Burns & Co., announced his studio has secured the film rights to The Mythmakers, a graphic novel about the two literary titans by New York Times bestselling author and illustrator John Hendrix.

“C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien’s works have inspired me for as long as I can remember,” Burns said. “When I read John Hendrix’s The Mythmakers, I immediately knew that Burns & Co. needed to adapt it into an animated film as special as the book. John’s words and images literally leap off the page, so I can’t wait to capture his creativity and craft a timeless film that families can enjoy for years to come.”

Hello

Hello,

I've been a long time reader of the forms, and finally took the initiative to create an account and share.

I am a man in my thirties, Christian-Orthodox denomination, from Europe (Romania) that has found God when I was very little, and strive to keep His word to the best of my ability. I try to live by Psalm 119, which my favorite, and the one that speaks louder to me than all other Psalms. And I'm currently studying Byzantine plain chant. Not very good, but I am trying. I try to chant a segment of the psalms everyday, though not always possible. And maintain a very simple life, sans-temptations, where everything is based necessity and not want.

On the relationship side, I never pursued women because I never felt the need. Since the beginning, I handled loneliness extremely well - as if it did not exist. And never had lust. So with these two in effect, I considered that it was best to not pursue women. On this side, I'm not sure if this is God's will or not, but I think that if a man has no desire for something, and is unaffected by loneliness, then it is part of something.

I also enjoy studying. Any subject is worth learning, and I do it happily.I love to read books, as old as possible. I love history, philosophy, religion, mathematics. And generally spend my time in each one, alternating. The desire for knowledge is never ending, and I think it may be be from God.

In rest, I am an advocate for soberness and vigilance. That is, anything that can corrupt your mind should not be done. And I believe that every person should be watchful of themselves, of the people around them, and of their environment.

On occasion I have dreamt of God, telling me uplifting things. And... I also had one dream where the devil showed himself to me (telling me the opposite). I am a dreamer, which has dreams, and visions. And most of them come true. Not sure if it is a prophetic manifestation of the Holy Spirit, but in my dreams I receive warnings, and messages of things to come. Some can be changed, others cannot, but they happen as dreamt.
