Everyone gave what they could, but the old garage would need a lot of work to be turned into a church building. We acquired a loan from the AOG Property trust and trusted God to provide the finance needed to convert the old derelict garage into a church building. One of the members had two grandsons who were bricklayers and they agreed to extend the building and put a roof on it. Another member's son put an internal ceiling with lighting below the roof. New flooring was put in and a member who was an electrician worked as the site foreman every day after his work. Another member did the plumbing for toilets. The architect who had worked on behalf of the old gentleman gave his services to us and a Christian friend helped us prepare for building regulations inspections. Everyone who could helped with something to contribute to a brand new church building and carpark. The opening in 1981 had 400 people attending. Many had to stand outside but it was a wonderful celebration of praise and honour to the God of glory!
