'Now some Pharasees that had been sent questioned him,Why then,do you baptise,if You are not the Christ,not Elijah,nor the Prophet?' (John 1:24-25) The Pharasees were always concerned with the legalities of everything and there was always nit-picking with them. They questioned John the Baptist's right to baptise people in the River Jordan,if he was not the Messiah,Elijah or the Prophet. why was he baptising Jews who were circumcised. . John the Baptist said that he baptised people after preaching repentence and their baptism was symbolical. The Messiah was coming and He would forgive sin and cleanse. John was only preparing the way of the LORD!
