  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. And they went and woke him...
(thinking about Luke 2:8-20) Every day is Christmas-like, the graced belief in Incarnation’s gift. Yet, what is special on this Eve is the masses feel the void, Heaven’s mark missed. The Church? We feel a strong but happy impulse: to share the Good News of Salvation come. So sing the...

Positive Biblical Impact This video challenges us to view the battle of David and Goliath in a new way: through the eyes of Goliath's armor maker, who is struggling to fend off questions from angry Philistine reporters looking for someone to blame. At the end of the day, the armor maker...

Today, I found this video in my recommended list, so it's my privilege to bring a closer deep-dive examination of Jordan Peterson's thoughts on the Bible as he talks to a Franciscan Friar at a university dedicated to Franciscan education. For reviewing Peterson, I've decided to go deep-diving...
“One of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he went into the Pharisee's house and reclined at table. And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, and standing behind...
“And all spoke well of him and marveled at the gracious words that were coming from his mouth. And they said, ‘Is not this Joseph's son?’ And he said to them, ‘Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, “Physician, heal yourself.” What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your...

The cycle of sleep was uneven still, then, and for several days afterward, so there was need of sleep during the daytime and still sleep at night too. When the next morning had come, and they continued on from that one tree where they had rested at with their blankets, and came to one more fast...
“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, “’The Spirit of the Lord...
“As the people were in expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Christ, John answered them all, saying, ‘I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize...
He (John the Baptist) said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able...
Trust, the hallmark of the union of the Father-Spirit-Son, each forming forever the One true God, Whom believing Israel adores. Though we read not, "Trinity", revelation thrusts Him forward, instilling in us awed allegiance to the One who thus sovereignly comes forth as loving Father, sending...
“During the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness. And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the...
“These also are sayings of the wise. Partiality in judging is not good. Whoever says to the wicked, ‘You are in the right,’ will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations, but those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them. Whoever gives an honest...
Proverbs 20 (select verses) 1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise. 6 Many a man proclaims his own steadfast love, but a faithful man who can find? 9 Who can say, “I have made my heart pure; I am clean from my sin”? 22 Do not say...
A few thoughts on John 2:23-25 (NIV-1984) 23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing and believed in his name. 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men. 25 He did not need man's testimony about man, for he...
This will be more of a topical Bible study today, so I will be referring to multiple passages of Scripture. But I will begin with a definition of “church” (the ekklesia). From the Greek interlinear: “Properly, people called out from the world and to God, the outcome being the Church (the...
Concerning 2 Samuel 11:14-17, 2 Samuel 23:8 and 2 Samuel 23:39. Then, imagining Uriah the Hittite’s last day of loyal service to the Lord G-d and King David: As men, set ‘round Uriah, slunk deftly away and enemy arrows struck sinews and veins, could these have stung more than being betrayed by...
