  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

“Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ: May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you. “Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the...
I saw that Lenny Wilkins passed away at the age of 88. My husband and I moved to Seattle in 1977 and left at the end of 1981. While there, we enjoyed watching the Seattle SuperSonics play basketball and became fans. We watched the SuperSonics, under Wilkins, become National Champions on...

The Bible is an ongoing record of God's frustrations and His plan to deal with the rebellious who prefer an adversarial spirit to following His will. This, as we learn to participate as aware workers in a creation that is necessarily built upon opposites including good and evil. It is still...
“Zion will be redeemed with justice And her repentant ones with righteousness. But transgressors and sinners will be crushed together, And those who forsake the Lord will come to an end.” (Isaiah 1:27-28 NASB1995) Zion, under the New Covenant, is in reference to the city of God, the people of...
I am still reading in Joshua 24. Joshua had just given the children of Israel a word from the Lord. And then he told them, therefore, that they were now to fear (honor, respect, obey) the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in truth (no fakery, no lies). They were to put away all their idols and...
“Test everything; hold fast what is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21) – A quiet moment to measure every calling against Scripture. Introduction: The Heartfelt Claim That Reshapes the Church In countless church meetings and seminary interviews, a familiar phrase echoes: “I feel called.” It carries...

"Eva and Jaffa watched between the thickly leaved branches of the berry shrub among many more of those. Jaffa had been right, the snake was returning and was in sight soon. The snake was wide bodied and its length was more than the heights of Eva and Jaffa together. They remained still and did...
Psalm 34:1-2 (1) I will bless Adonai at all times; his praise will always be in my mouth. (2) When I boast, it will be about Adonai; the humble will hear of it and be glad. (CJB) Are there styles of music in the church that make us wary? How about the mannerisms of some as they praise or sing...
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons...
A stranger’s wonder at the shame of Jeshurun,* bare stare at the Cross. At a Friend’s stretched arms, Wracked hands that once clapped with joy. Convulsions from pain. (1) At a brother’s brow, Blood and carpenter’s sweat mix. Father, Joseph, spared.** (2) Feet like his mother’s, Once swaddled...

“Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the...
“In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory.” (Ephesians 1:11-12 NASB1995) The subject matter is the...

Donald Trump is not a king. The folks organizing the protests do not say he is a king. But he is behaving like one and the Republicans in congress are not stepping up to stop it. Why do I say he behaves like a king? After watching John Stewart this week, it became obvious. Check out...
Lord, “all things are your servants”. ^ Brethren, “all things are yours”! ^^ The above borrows from the two footnoted Scripture references. The beauty of looking at these verses is that whereas in Psalms creation is described as serving God’s purposes, the Corinthians reference describes all...
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with...
