Whoa, dispensationalism's still kicking around?
Yep. And *gasp* some of the best seminaries in the US are still teaching and holding to it. Crazy huh?

Do you believe that the Jews have a right to the land in Israel based on the Bible?
Yes, but maybe Arabs can live there too. I saw Messianic jews and christian Arabs are praying together for real peace there. A lot of muslims in the Middle East get visions of Jesus now.
I do believe that the their return to Palestine is the fulfillment of a prophecy. However, I don't like some of the things they are doing. It is a complex situation, since the Arabs will always hate them, even if the Jews behave like saints.

I meant the ones that convert to christianity because they see Him. I also read a testimony of a Jewish rabbi who´s now Messianic, because a christian Arab brought him to Jesus.Muslims claim to get visions of Jesus a lot. He is ingrained into Islam and I know Muslims who also believe in the second coming of Jesus.
as far as I know, the Pontifical College JosephinumReally? When did Duke and Princeton make that switch?
as far as I know, the Pontifical College Josephinum
(located in beautiful Columbus Ohio) has not made the switch either

I pretty much agree with this. But it's not like all members of any one group are hateful (and I know that's not what you meant.)
I have a lot of sympathy for the Palestinians and it seems like the plight of Palestinian Christians has been completely overlooked by Christian Zionists.
As a pre-mil dispy, my focus is on the millennium. It's one of my favorite words, really. Jesus ruling, here, in the world - glorious. The Knesset, not so much. Human governments aren't sacred.
(Luke 1:32) And the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.
(Rev. 22:20) Come, Lord Jesus.
How many people here are Christian Zionists?
By this I mean, do you believe that the promises that God makes to Israel in the Old Testament translate to the modern nation state of Israel that is now in the Middle East?
I know a lot of Christians who support Israel because it is a political ally of the USA and it is a democratic nation in an area that does not have very many democracies. That is not what this thread is about
I am more interested if you think that the modern nation state of Israel plays a role in End Time Prophecies and/or is the legitimate successor of the promises God made to the People of Israel in the OT
Anti-Zionists deny that Israel is a country. They regard it as an illegitimate country.
There are some Zionists who regard contemporary Israel as more than a country. It's a sacred entity that can't be criticized.
The Jewish people have a right to their homeland: a state in Israel/Palestine. But how can they obtain all the land that God has promised them? Can they just take it? That's not how it was in the Biblical conquest. They had to wait centuries until the current inhabitants lost their right to dwell there. The conquest was a judgment on the wickedness of Canaanite culture. It was a judgment that would be repeated on the Jews themselves in the Exile.
There is no way that Israel can take all of the land that God has promised them because this involves never-ending conflict. God has seen to it that only the Messiah can restore David's kingdom.
God has made earthly promises to Israel and He will keep them, because He is faithful to Himself and He does not change.IF I viewed modern Israel as biblical Israel then I would say that it was illegitimate, because Christ is King, a king of the line of David, and the Jews in Israel are in open rebellion agianst their King

I do not think that Israel is illegitimate
it is as legitimate as Canada or Brazil or the UK or Jordan
I do not equate the modern nation state of Israel with the ancient kingdom of Israel

in the Bible, in the OT, what is the punishment for those who rebel agianst their King?
Israel has as much right to exist as any other Nation-State
spiritual Israel are those who follow Christ the King
spiritual Israel are the jews and gentiles who have joined the Church
these are the people of God
