  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

If I don't wear my glasses, I suppose I could be blind. I wouldn't be able to drive anyway. I guess he'd have to pick me up.

hmm
They barely let me drive now, and without em I'm like 20/400 so I'm toast lol!
It's almost something I have to wait to tell somebody, that I can't see well, and I'm different. I've got to ask people to read signs, and distant menus all the time so it gets a little awkward.
Talk to the hand...

If he starts going on about the rugby or cricket I switch off. Its either that or maybe I should actually sit down and watch a match and become a fan myself.
Have failed to enjoy watching sports and I don't get why some people do.

I think its just an excuse to drink beer and not do any housework or yard work.

Watching football? Nah, I clean like crazy...(after all, if I don't do it who will?)... I even shampoo the carpets and I still love to watch football. :p

So you think it's a conspiracy theory?
Sounds good to me haha!
For drinking, does that happen on dates sometimes when you're eating?
Or is that not very common?
I'm one to have a beer, but past that, and I'm over it.

you never been on a date?
Nope. A few female friends who are thousands of miles away, along with either not single or compatible enough.. There is nobody on island out here since it's very remote, and so in all honesty nobody to talk to. One time a friend and I drove 1.5 hours to a decent church to talk to some girls we barely knew.. it's sad out here lol!
People aren't friendly, and holding a conversation means you're hitting on them due to the culture.
So if I am in the right place I'll take the short flight from one country to another, spend the weekend with a friend of mine, not hesitate to spend money on fun events, and hopefully make some good memories for us both.

But do you do that while watching football?

No, when I sit down to watch footballl the house is usually already clean. I do so cause I want to..... not as an excuse to procrastinate. :p

However if I were married and my wife asked me to do something while I was watching the game Id say after the game (unless it was a bad game) in which case is still not procrastinating..... its just not letting her interrupt something I enjoy just to do something that can EASILY be done when what I enjoy is over with.

where do you live?
Big Island of Hawai'i on the Hamakua Coast. Have been for 13 or maybe 15 years...
wow, I'm sorry to hear that
It's just life, and it makes you different. I would love to brag I had a date with a friend in a different country. Although since we're not after romance, it's like not a date but that's okay with me lol.

I have heard it is much cheaper to live there, is that true?
If you live very simplistically it might not cost a lot but overall it's not easy here.
$15 an hour won't cut it unless you live with somebody else and wish to own a car.
Is it really that hard to get a woman to go on a date? Have you asked anyone lately? What kind of dates are people turning down...too vague or too fancy or what?
(not trying to hijack)
There are simply no women around. One (only one who weighed less than me, and was in her 20s lol!) at church I spoke to but I wasn't interested past talking and she shortly got a guy anyways so talking to her is kinda taboo now. Last one I was interested in moved away years back. Had a chat with a sophomore (I later learned) at the UPS store in Kamuela for 5 minutes since I was shipping something and wanted to see how conversational I can be since I can't ever test it in person. Sad but heck it's a free conversation and maybe I could have gotten a number but teenagers are kids IMHO. Most my age move off island for college and never return. It's just my situation now. College student bible study is 1 hour away (the university isn't very good, thus all move off island), but I'm only legally permitted to drive during the day, and the road is dangerous so I can't really do it since I need a spotless record to have a license.

There have been maybe three women in five years I've met in person that were single, and friendly whom I've spoken to for more than 15 minutes. Looks aren't a major focus, I'm not really picky, and I'll talk to anyone plus consider them if they don't scare me. Thus. I figure a good set of outings with a friend who's 5,000 mile away could be therapeutic, so if I do end up in Japan serving I'll definitely try to visit, and have a good time. God will determine it all. But as you can imagine it's not the easiest to be my age and not have anything ever happen lol!

Actually, it sounds like you are picky. Ask a girl out who weighs more than you...just coffee, you don't have to marry her or even kiss her. Learn to talk to girls on dates. And judging a girl by her age? you have no idea what that 18 or 19 year old girl who is actually working has been through. She might be more mature than you are just because life has forced her to be. Like I tell my daughter, sometimes eating is just about fueling your body and you don't have to "like" everything on your plate. Stop deciding who you are "attracted to" and start just interacting with women on "friend dates". I mean, you are willing to fly halfway around the world to go on a "friend date", why not try the same thing in your own backyard.

Where did you go and what did you do on your last date?

for this thread, 'date' is defined as going out with someone of the opposite sex.
We decided to go on this "summary of our relationship", since I was moving out of state and we decided to not do long distance. We went to her favorite restaurant in town first (not where we went on our first date because that placed closed), then took a walk through the park we had our first kiss at, then walked around campus to remember all our special places, and then went back to my place.
