Could you please assist me with removing this log from my eye."Oh I'm fine then! I'm not judgmental at all!"
"Except, when I am..."
"And then..."
"Oh..."
"Oh crap..."
I was just thinking about Paul's instructions.I think this might have been why some of the early ascetics went out into the desert and lived there.
They knew it might be safer for them in the end.
It might have also been why Paul suggested
It might be better for some
Not to marry
So what must our attitude be toward judgment?
1 Corinthians 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.
I spent a lot of time meditating on this verse:That really is an important part, and it is so hard.
Hypocrisy seems to be such an innate part of human nature
At least mine
Every time I am angered
I devalue the one that has angered me
God save me from myself
And God save others from me
When I am in intercession, I sometimes drum my chest with my fistI was recently pondering the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector in Luke 18, imagining a third man in the pews. The third man (often myself) says "thank God I'm not like that Pharisee".
But there's still only 1 that leaves justified
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
