  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here are some Christmas ornaments that I crocheted:

Those are beautiful. We have a lady here who does snowflakes. Yours look similar to those. What kind of yarn and what size needle do you use?

I can verify that the yellow one is lovely!

Size 10 thread, not sure on the hook size. I like them because they look antique, victorian.

Mom went to Hobby Lobby this week...didn't get anything though. But she's got a $30 gift card to spend and I'm sure she's planning on getting some yarn. :D
*helps Trekki's mom pick out yarn* ;) :D

Have you seen this, folks?
:)
Thanks Criada...I'm going to start on one this afternoon. I've become a little bored with my crocheting, so a nice simple knit scarf will be just the right thing, methinks. :)

I've finished another afghan for our church craft sale. My 16 year old really likes this one so I'm wondering if it will really make it to the sale. ;)

I suppose you could always make another one. ;) :D

I'm a big knitter. Here are some of my projects.

A baby sweater (the famous 5-hour baby sweater):

Those are great Joykins. :) Thanks for sharing. The little sweater is so cute...as is the little one in the blue hat. That last hat looks like a lot of work.

I've always wanted to learn to knit or crochet, but I am left handed, and everyone that has tried to teach me just can't seem to do it. I gave up. I sew and quilt.

I have been looking for someone who wants to loom knit. It is soooo easy. I am positive that I can teach you on line. Are you game?

It sure is.

I would love to learn to knit. I usually donate my quilts to the *baby boot camp* program they have for new Marine/Navy parents, but since I work full time, it is hard to get them done in a decent time-frame. Is the loom knitting faster?

I love keeping my hands busy. When I am idle, that is when issues arise. It's never a good thing. I'm really excited to learn.

It is wonderful. You could make a hat a day in only an hour or two. Scarves take a bit longer, probably a total of 8 hours. Everything else, flat pieces for pocket books, sweaters, and afghans, will take a bit longer depending on the project.

It is an ancient craft, but much of the knowledge has been lost. It has just in the last several years made a comeback, and more advanced stitches are being found every day.

I recently came across a knit to loom converter where you can take regular knitting patterns and convert them to the loom.
