I found System Shock 2 to be the scariest game I have ever played. Ever.
Plus, it is really, really cool.

The full name is "Clive Barker's Undying" I think. You've probably heard of him, he's a famous horror writer.
It's a horror FPS. I didn't care for it much myself, but I know people who like it.

Again I have to agree with Starscream. System Shock 2 scared me far more than Undying did. I think Undying tried too hard to scare. SS2 truly creeped me out.
Another game that's really good on scaring the "poopie" out of you is Aliens vs. Predator 2. The Marine scenarios are intense. Pretty much like experiencing the movie. I jumped out of my seat many times playing that one.
Anyone going to be playing Star Wars Galaxies when it releases in April?

I beat Half Life on the PS2. Great game, but a lame ending!![]()
swg is more than anything else just everquest in space.
from the specs and what is being discussed i'd recommend passing the game over and waiting for the next generation of MMOGs to arrive.

the MMOGs to watch in my opinion are as follows
eve online: http://eve-online.com/
set in the distant future you choose from one of 4 human descended races: minmatar, caldari, amarr, gallente.
unlike other MMOGs you dont get to choose an avatar persay. you only get to see yourself thru the ship you are piloting since your character is the ships captain encased in a life support/ship control pod inside the ship.
the game is due out in march.
warhammer online: http://www.warhammeronline.com/
based off of the already established warhammer fantasy world
it is due out at the end of 2003 but i would be middle of 2004
other MMOGs of interest are:
face of mankind

this really isnt an mmorpg but rather and mmofps
and shadowbane

Wha??? Is the ending different on the PS2 from the PC version? I thought the ending on the PC version was fantastic!
I haven't tried any of the HL expansions. Are they any good? By today's standards?

Don't know much about most of those games. Eve Online looks interesting. But if it's anything like Earth and Beyond it will be fun for about a month and then I'll be back playing Star Wars Galaxies. I like the concept of the SWG Space Expansion better anyway. I can have an avatar and develop him in a world. Then when I want to, I can hop in my X-Wing and explore space, hunt for minerals, travel to other worlds etc.
One thing I can say from experience. Shadowbane isn't going to be anything special. I've participated in the Beta and it's been disappointing. Pretty much a grief gamers paradise from what I've seen so far. And Wolfpack has a lot of work still to do in my opinion. Wolfpack really missed their window on getting that game to market. It should've been there to compete with Dark Age of Camelot and Anarchy Online. Then it may have stood a chance. Time will tell of course, but I don't see much hope for it with SWG coming out well before it and Worlds of Warcraft coming out not to far behind it. (This is of course if Shadowbane ever does release. I have my doubts.)
I'll still keep my money with Sony Online. They've got all the experience in the market to make a successful game. Like it or hate it, Everquest is the most successful game in the genre by a pretty big margin. The only other MMORPG that has been as successful has been Ultima Online. And Sony Online West (the Star Wars Galaxies developers) consist of a lot of the ex UO and UO 2 developers. Throw Lucasarts into the mix and I'd say you have a match made in heaven.

now as far as swg goes i have played it and i am not impressed at all
it is bland and boring and it is everquest in space. and as far as verant, .... sony interactive as they are called now, and promises about expansion packs goes i wouldnt hold my breath.
if uo, uo2, eq, lucas arts standards are anything to go by i would pass on everything and anything that they put out.
save your money for early 2004 for warhammer online to be released. its design concepts are light years ahead of what swg, and eq2 are.
