You're missing the point, Mr. Kendall.

The idea that we're somehow not leaning on God just because we have a gun in the house is ludicrous. I'm really getting tired of the pot shots taken at my faith (even in the most flowery pretty language it's still a pot shot).

I happy you could yell loudly. I'm happy that you were able to stop violence on your farm.

This does not mean I trust God less than you do. It does not mean that I do not believe that God will protect me. It simply means that I understand that there are many ways that God will protect me.

I have faith that if I train really, really hard, and use the proper ammunition and laser sight, that I can cause no suffering at all to the intruder when I shoot him.

Faith without works is dead.

Ten-bucks says I'll be standing at the end of the incident between me and an intruder if I work real hard to be a great shot.

Thank you Saint James.

By 'loving your enemy'?

I'll love him even as he's staring down the barrel of my rifle.

Loving him doesn't mean I let him do whatever he wants. Sheesh. I'm so glad I'm not married to you...you'd probably hand me over to the guy and say "hey, have fun!"

If you shoot those you love what do you do to the rest?

No, because one, I'm not American, so I couldn't if I wanted to anyway, and two, that would just be a case of murder.

Nevermind if they were trying to kill you or steal your belongings; any time you save someone's life, you give them another chance to be saved. Isn't that the goal of every Christian, to bring people to the kingdom for the glory of the Lord Almighty?

When the sword was pulled out to defend a loved one from being killed, Jesus said "he who lives by the sword dies by it"

That was an actual reference to culture. In those days men would sell the use of their sword...or rather their skill to use it, some for protection, but mostly for war, murder ,ect. Study the greek, has nothing to do with one that protects him family from murderers that break in his home.

Christ commans us to provide and protect our families. Maybe some would rather not protect their families, many don't. I have heard many stories of those that choose not to protect their family, then be faced with someone breaking in and after watching family get killed, ect, maybe only 1% said they still wouldn't protect, the other 99% get a gun.

There was a story on the net not long ago of a lady was a strong antigun person, involved in all the antigun crap, ect. She lived with her daughter a beautiful 19 year old. She had to listen to her daughter get raped, then found her dead. She hid in her closet why all this happened. Now she hates herself for not going to her daughters rescue or at least dying with her. Now she is strong progun and speaks for the NRA.

No, it wouldn't be murder. The Bible never refers to self defense as murder.

Nevermind if they were trying to kill you or steal your belongings; any time you save someone's life, you give them another chance to be saved.

So what if my family members aren't saved? Don't they deserve to have their lives saved so that they might have another chance to be saved?

Isn't that the goal of every Christian, to bring people to the kingdom for the glory of the Lord Almighty?

Not at the expense of the lives of innocent bystanders and not if it means being disobedient to God's command for me to protect my family.

If I had a gun I would most certainly shoot a home invader.

Hmm, maybe the OP should be: How many times would you shoot a home invader?

Of course the answer would entail how much of a cleanup mess would be made if you emptied the gun into the invader.

In the state in which I live the law is quite specific as to when a homeowner may or may not shoot a home invader. If the intruder picks up your TV set and walks out with it, you may not shoot him. If he picks up that TV set and attempts to transform it into a hat for your head you may shoot him.

Would I shoot an intruder that was attempting to harm me? In a New York minute.

Would you shoot a home invader?

Why or why not?

Why shoot him? Isn't it obvious that your first response to a home invader should be to politely ask him to leave? If that doesn't work, then at least try to accommodate him to the best of your ability, without giving him a reason to off you.

Bake him a cake.

Offer him a good book.

Show him how many sports channels you have with DirecTV.

Honestly, in the face of an immediate threat, where split-second decision making is necessary, why would you shoot to defend yourself? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of.

My rule is you have to stop shooting when the Home Invader stops breathing, twitching, or squirming, or any combination of two of those.
If he stops twitching & squirming, but he's still breathing, he may be indicating he's willing to co-operate.
