My my my. How ugly was this thread. GraceAnn, always remember that a Christian is a follower of Christ and not a follower of Christians. There are some "Christians" who act more like Satan than Christ, but you have to emulate Christ and not them. Always keep your eyes on Jesus and learn of him and his character everyday and try to be his ambassador.
That word is only used once in the NT/NC of the Bible and it appears there are some that have a problem with my bro Saul/Paul for some reason :sorry:

Isn't an ambassador one sent to spread the gospel? Once I learn the gospel, I could do that perhaps.

Yes but not necessarily. An ambassador is a representative. Christians are suppose to demonstrate Christ by their lifestyle. That does involve spreading his message but the principle that to whom much is given, much is expected applies.

Only if you're truly convicted thru the faith that is of Jesus.
I have been in Christ since 2003 and the more I read the NT/NC, the more convicted I am that He is truly of God.

Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now shall it spring forth; shall ye not know it?
I will even make a Way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

John 14:6 Jesus is saying to him "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.
No one is coming toward the Father except thru Me".

This is a site I personally highly recommend [I have yet to read thru it all, tho I have looked at it for almost 7yrs].
But this is of course my most humble opinion.

The Greek word Apostle essentially means “the sent forth ones.”

Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead. Galatians 1:1

The first job of an Apostle was to witness to the resurrection hence they were fully persuaded of the resurrection power of Jesus Christ.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18.

Likewise to be an ambassador of Christ we must be conversant with the gospel and fully persuaded of its power. We need to know Christ and be transformed by the power he gives us, so that others can see Christ in us.

In the Old Testament the Hebrew word for ambassador is tsir, meaning "one who goes on an errand" and the greatest offence an ambasodor could do was to misrepresent the one who sent him.

Gospel = Gut-Spiel, "Good News"

Bad News = we sin, separate ourselves from God, deserve His wrath
Gospel = Jesus sacrificed Himself in our place so we can be reconciled to God through Him (see 2 Cor. 5:21) and receive His mercy and grace. Sinless life - Death on Cross - Resurrection (see 1 Cor. 15's beginning)

Have you accepted this gift from God and put your faith in Jesus?

This post was most helpful Habakk. I earnestly believe that representing Christ and the true gospel is one of tremendous responsibility. I suspect that we all must answer to HIM.

GraceAnn2: Please feel free to ask them. In the meantime, when it comes to the topic of Bible studies/studying, I'd like to simply say the following. When it comes to the study of God's Word, it is important to always remember that the central theme revolves around the Person of Jesus Christ. I don't know about you, but whenever I did jigsaw "puzzles" as a kid, it always helped me immensely if I had a picture on the front cover of the box to reference. In other words, if I had difficulty in properly placing a "piece", then I could "cheat" and hold the "piece" up against the picture and see where it properly fit. When it comes to the "puzzle" of God's Word, the picture is definitely one of Jesus Christ and Him alone.

Hebrews 10:4-7

"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared for me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book, it is written of me), to do thy will."

In the volume of the book, it is written about Jesus Christ.

John 5:39

"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

The scriptures testify of Jesus Christ.

Luke 24:27

"And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself."

While walking on the road to Emmaus with two men after His resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. It's important to understand that, at this time, the only scriptures which were available were the Old Testament scriptures. Even there, Christ is on every page.

Luke 24:44-45

"And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures..."

Once again, Jesus opened the understanding of His disciples after His resurrection from the dead and showed them how Moses (the first 5 books of the Old Testament), the Old Testament prophets and the Old Testament psalms all testify of Him. In other words, your knowledge of Jesus Christ need not only be derived from the 27 books of the New Testament, but also from the 39 books of the Old Testament.

Anyhow, if I can assist you in understanding what the two "testaments" are really all about, then it shall be my pleasure to do so. Thanks.
