Wondering if you can give me some good reasons why masturbation is a bad thing.

I was born into sin. Sin feels good at times. I love to see beautiful women either naked or very revealing because lust send a warm feeling all through me and awakens chemicals in my body which give me a high.

But Lust is still a sin.

There were times in my life that I would really have enjoyed hurting or torturing or killing someone. I am sure it would have felt good at first and the times i did act it did feel good.

Sin is all around us and we have something left over after baptism that still makes us want to sin. In this world mixed with evil and good that is only natural.

But for the learned and those exposed to the Truth of Jesus and his teachings we know that sin is something we battle in the world. If we win the battle and get to heaven then we will be without evil and there will be no sin and we will not have these conflicts in us.

Point I am making if you can see it... just because it makes you feel good does not mean it is good.

Does the Bible mention Necrophylia?
(also see my post at #86)

There is enough about how dead bodies make a person 'unclean' to determine that sex with a dead body is wrong, yes.

Just because it feels good doesn't mean it's bad either. I love the feeling of a hot shower after a long day's work. That's not a sin.

I still can't find a single scripture in the Bible that flat out says that masturbation is sinful. At best it can be weaseled in, but adding to scripture is in itself a sin.

let me also say that Im not for or against MB.
My point is simply that it is not something that is covered in scripture and we need to be very careful not to ADD our own sense of morality to Gods law.
Maybe it's wrong, maybe it isn't.
A person who is trying to decide needs to read Gods Word, not a catechism, and spend time in honest prayer on the matter.

Also, JackCatholic, there is another issue concering necrophylia

Scripture as a whole shows that sexual relations with another human being is SOLELY permissible with our spouse within the confines of a lawful marriage.
Having sex with a corpse is 'sin' by default because it is not with our spouse we are married to.

We cant use this to say that sex with our dead spouse is 'ok' because at death, the 'law of the husband' no longer exists (as proven in 1 Cor 7:39) and as such that marriage is over when one spouse dies.

Sex with a corpse is 'sin' by default...

Abstaining is just that: abstaining.

Self-control is a spiritual fruit.

How do you know it functions as part of healthy human sexuality?

You read too many secular articles, methinks.

Masturbation is a dissipator of deep intimate love in a Christian married couple.

BUT....

Scripture fully acknowledges that self control is a problem in the sexual realm.

Now, what if this person 'CANNOT' contain, is overwhelmed by desire, yet can find no suitable, agreeable mate?

And lets expand on this one...

What if the person 'cannot contain' and HAS found a mate who has chosen to make a game of ignoring their conjugal duties ?

It is a virtue of the Holy Spirit working in a life. It is evidence of the life of Christ in a believer.

Then he/she must remain single until God provides a mate. Abstain from sexual activity, period. It's not impossible in a life in Christ. He is more than capable of taking care of our desires and putting them in proper perspective.

If you want to be pure in God, then you can be. If you don't want to be, then you will find yourself a loophole every time. God isn't pleased by it.

How is it a dissipater? Is that based on scripture or studies I'm not familiar with?

I know it functions as part of healthy human sexuality because that's common sense. Outside of that, it's been found to lower blood pressure, increase fertility, relieve depression, and help prevent prostate cancer among other things.

Ridiculous. The benefits are gained by regular sexual intercourse with one's spouse. Obviously, the way God intended.

But why would God not want people to touch? Not everybody has a partner, and some never will. Pent up sexual tension is really, really unhealthy.

Apparently you and Paul have a different point of view.
Paul shows that some 'CANNOT contain'.
Are you saying that Paul is claiming that the Holy Spirit is somehow not doing His job with these who CANNOT contain ?

Then he/she must remain single until God provides a mate.
This doesnt seem relevant to this discussion or my post.

Abstain from sexual activity, period.
MB is hardly sexual activity that is forbidden in Gods word.
Youre having to really stretch the intent and meaning of things here to make your views work.

It's not impossible in a life in Christ.
Did you even READ my post ?
What did Paul say again ?

"If they CANNOT contain"

Lets let that SAY what it says, ok ?
Jesus Himself in the gospels shows that celibacy is given to some...not to all.

But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake.
He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
(Mat 19:11-12 KJV)

Again, your views seem to be slightly different from Pauls and our Lords who show that some CANNOT contain.

If Im hearing you right, you seem to have to believe that the Spirit isnt helping a whole lot if someone 'CANNOT contain' as Paul points out.

He is more than capable of taking care of our desires and putting them in proper perspective.
And apparently HE has chosen to not remove sexual desire from 'all men' but only those whom He choses.

If you want to be pure in God, then you can be. If you don't want to be, then you will find yourself a loophole every time. God isn't pleased by it.
And if YOU want to be pure in Gods eyes, dont ADD law to His word to suit your own sense of morality.

No it isn't! That's a lie the world has dreamed up.

Serving God takes care of idle thoughts and fleshly desires.

Paul says in that case--marry!
AND WE COVERED THIS !
Not everyone can FIND a spouse !
Youre being somewhat naive if you say that they can.
A woman can pretty much go to a bar and find a man to marry.
A man, however, doesnt have it that easy most of the time.
