Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

 Hi everybody!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome!!!

Thanks Plan 9 for the kind words!!!

Plan 9 mentioned that Smilin was Cherokee, I'm Santee Sioux. I'm only 1/16th, but I have a "blood certificate" stating that the Sioux nation recognizes me as one of their people.

Yep (only 1/2 though). And since the Sioux and Cherokee descended
from a common clan... we are brother and sister by heritage.

Looking forward to more conversation with you...

Wanna bet? What's 'weird' to some is tradition to others.

The only thing that terrifies me is that the librarian is going to want that Gershwin CD back, sooner or later. Then what am I gonna do? :help:
So that's your phobia?:D

That is just like the supporters of homosexuality saying that since it isn't specifically mentioned in the new tastament that it cant possibly be wrong in this day and time. I will research this for you.

Hmmm, that would be the same as me saying, CHRISTIAN teachings in any form would be wrong. She is not looking to be converted. She is only looking to get accurate referance.

Witch craft is beyond your understanding if you blanket all of it with a plain old WRONG. YOU should do some research yourself and find out what you can about wiccan and PEGAN beliefs. Next time you put up a CHRISTMAS TREE, might what to remember what I said here. :)

 Hi Smilin!!!

You taught me something new, I didn't know that the Cherokee and the Sioux descended from a common clan.
What can you tell me about it? I would really like to know!!!
I'm trying to figure out my ancestry on the Sioux side. I've gotten two different geneologies. Do you know of a organization that might be able to help me?
Well I look forward to more conversations with you also!!!

HALLOOOOOO DI...

Before we begin...and to stay on topic, some Native American traditional beliefs
were labeled 'witchcraft'. (have to abide by the rules or you get hammered...trust me...:D )

Most of the information comes from archeologists. Give me a bit
to review some of the research.

Geneology is passed through the female. That is the first step. Next, you might
try my web link once you find a name to see if it's in the registry.
Happy Hunting! I've helped quite a few others here as well. Let me know
on your progress.

In the meantime, I'll dig out what history I can find and consult with a few others.

Personally I dont believe that native american beliefs were "witchcralt", just a different set of beliefs. Its too easy to label something "witchcraft". The early european settlers labeled it that because anything that was not of their religious traditions were then labeled "witchcraft".

Take your time on the research!!!

Im not saying you think this but what you said made me think of the fact that this is also what many christians do(not all) to anyone who is not of their faith, they label them satanist or demon worshippers.

EXACTLY!
Without first learning that some of us view Satan as a Christian
invention, or simply a fictitious persona elevated in status over
time by superstitions, religous agendas, and hollywood movies.

ravenwolf... you carry two totem animals joined as one...
Did you choose that name intentionally? and do you know
what it represents?

Thus, the paranoia that led to the Salem witch trials and the slaughter
of innocence due to two females experiencing psychological hysteria.

Imagine the early Puritans if they had experienced 'flash photography
polaroid cameras'....:D SATAN! SATAN! SATAN!

Thank you and I am only a participant in it's creation and maintenance.
Our site is the hard work of many people. Take your time and ask
questions as you see fit. I've helped others trace their Native American
ancesters. It would be an honor to help you (or any others) as well.

It's one of the few constructive things with my time I do here.

I gave up debating science with the religiously blinded hovindnites...;)

i actually chose this name for this site cuz someone else had my name "dragomstarr"..which is also just an internet name....not for my own Spirit name. i havent met my totem yet...i think when the time is ready i will, and when the time is ready i will know my Spirit name. i have always been drawn to the wolf...spiritually drawn...ever since i was a child....that is my connection with the wolf...i dont know if it is my totem but i know i have a connection to them...as for the raven, to me it symbolises the hidden things of my unconsciose, my shadow....which is )to me) part of the spiritaul path to face and accept your shadow and i see the raven as a symbol of that venture into the unlnown....as for those two animals both being conjoined , i dont know that that represents..........but those are what those animals mean to me and what they represent for me.

I never left,I just left the forum we met in,I feel kinda embarraced to talk to them people anymore,Dont get me wrong, there are some really cool people there and I can't think of anyone to say bad things about, all very intelligent people it seems.I just have a way of rubbing people wrong sometimes.:)

I never realize when I do it because I think most people believe like me but nobody does.Anyway, what I remember about you is that you have a Monica Louinsky hairdoo but it's blond like Princess Di and that you are a very sweet person, somebody that would dance with me a fast two step, twirling so fast that we might fall but you wouldn't hold it against me,our knees would heal at the same time after the fall and we would have that in common.I always try to pull that scab off too quick. That's why I like Plan9,she keeps me twirling and if I fall she picks me up.

I dont think you rub people the wrong way. I had always enjoyed you point of view!!!
It would be boring if everyone thought the same. Yes, there were a few cool people there.

I never realize when I do it because I think most people believe like me but nobody does
I've come across that myself. I've posted something and then get the "smack-down"!!!!
I'm learning too, that there are so many differences of opinion!!!

Youre sweet!!! I like when you desribe what people look like. But I dont look anything like that!!
Picture someone who is 5'2, long dark auburn hair , green eyes and fair skin. I sound like I might look Irish, but people think Im spanish!!!
Oh, and the dancing thing. I cant DANCE!!! My husband loves to dance, but I feel like a big dork out there on the dance floor!!!
So Plan 9, is going to have to be your dance partner!!!
She's a great friend!!! I consider her my best friend here!!!:D
Well I hope to talk to you more!!!

 Greetings!!!

I'd like to know how one finds their totem? And does it have to be a real animal or can it be a mythological animal like a unicorn, dragon or even a phoenix?

Hi:wave: You can use a guided meditation or travel to the astral plane consciously. Im assuming you dont know what that is so I'll explain....This is a nonphysical plane..the one where we go when we dream...when we dream we go there unconsciosly but when we astral travel we maintane our consciousness so that we can be aware instead of in a dream and there we can meet totems as well as dragons, unicorns, angels and other non-worldly creatures. But I am not sure that they themselves sreve as totems.... I sometimes think you can know intuitively...like how I am spiritually connected to the wolf...but I still need to work on my intuition and trusting it, so I am not sure if the wolf is my totem or not...
Blessings

Hey~

Generally, one's totem animal is simply an animal one feels a close connection with. I don't mean just an animal that you like, like a cute little dog or cat(although it can be one of those), but an animal that seems to "speak" to you, that you seem to connect with on a spiritual level. An animal that maybe you notice a lot, that comes around you often. Pay attention to what happens in your life around the times that a particular animal crosses your path. They can be messengers, guides, protectors, or they can remind you about things in your life. Also, like Ravenwolf said, you can figure out who your totem is when you walk the astral, or try lucid dreaming. Maybe you have a particular animal companion in your dreams? Or maybe you "become" a particular animal? I don't know so much about mythological creatures being totems, since generally a totem is an animal that actually exists on this physical plane. Although you may have a spirit guide or something that you picture as a dragon or a unicorn. I'll try to do a bit more research on it for you.

Love & Blessings, Cerridwen*
