• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

not trying to get crazy or anything, but my daughter was the same way. Just a question and nothing to worry about, it's not serious. Does she arch her back when you pick her up? As in, does she rest on you, or does she tense up? Are her arms fairly floppy, or are they stiff? The reason I ask is because my daughter was what they call "high tone" and it was suggested that I do stretches with her to loosen her up. It worked, and the stretches were simple. Like I said, it isn't anything to worry about, but I was curious. Her doctor didn't even think twice about that, it was a physical therapist that was coming to work with my son that noticed.

not so much anymore. Now the only time she arches her back when we pick her up is when she is asleep, if she is awake she is pretty laid back when we pick her up. Her arms are a bit stiff when she is awake, and really limp when she is asleep.

She might be slightly high tone. You could just move her arms in their full regular motion, and see if it loosens up a bit. That is only if you are concerned. Lara just looked so darn uncomfortable when she was like that. Of course she was bad, she would always arch her back and her arms were like little sticks stuck straight. She is fine now, and very advanced in her motor skills. The physical therapist actually told me that high tone tend to be advanced in their motor skills and low tone seem to be a little behind. It's funny becuase my middle son is very very low tone and my daughter was very high tone. He is 3.5 and she is almost 2 and as far as motor skills go, they are almost on the same level.

When we got to that point, we decided to do massive potty training with the oldest. He went from diapers to naked to underwear in about 2 weeks. We couldn't afford his anymore. You know that you pay the same amount for 52 size 2's as you do for 28 or 32 size 5's? Oh we could not do that anymore.

I agree with what so many people have said, there are always going to be people around who will judge you no matter what you do.

The thing is, you just have to work out for yourself what you are going to do, and stand by it. Try not to take anything that other people say to heart.

My son is now nearly 3 1/2, and I am STILL getting people give me unwanted advice about things. The difference is you get more confident in yourself as a parent, and are able to relax. After all they are on loan to us from God for such a short time, (I always look at it that Daniel is my son, but he is God's as well and I ask God nearly every day for how I am to parent him and guide him)

By the way, as far as I am concerned, I did breastfeed for 16mths, but that doesn't make me any better than people who only did it for a day or a few weeks, if you are on medicine and can't do it, then you can't do it. Same with cloth nappies (I did that for 3 years) but that doesn't make me any better than someone who didn't do it at all (maybe just poorer, we couldn't afford disposables ;) )
