  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

lol, stop making so many tiny angry posts. I notice you can't site WHERE you think I have contradicted myself. I don't admit to not feeling angry with you, I find you to be insignificant and annoying.

Fact 5: This conversation is over. There is no further point in talking to you.

Multiple posts with a lot of anger, I know the feeling. I'm not an authority on satan, but he is an immortal being who has been around long enough to know Gods word inside and out and want to corrupt it.

I have been struggling against satan my whole life. I sure hope that Jesus christ is not even remotely like you, samuel, else I'd might as well just kill myself. You see that I am struggling, saddened, and this is how you treat me. Would Jesus have proceeded to kick a man while he's down?

So I will tell YOU to get behind me satan. Why are you trying to oppose my warnings in this matter, surely it means you are the one who is without God and who worships satan, not I. No, I won't fall into the trap of telling someone they are without God. That's your business and you can burn in hell for it. Nay, let us forgive as the lord forgives us.

The only "immortal being" I know is this one that I worship;

(1Ti 6:15) Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
(1Ti 6:16) Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Your worst enemy is with you at all times. It is called your flesh.

Yeah, but my worst enemy hasn't been around awhile, I'm sure you know what I mean...

(Luk 4:13) And having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season.

(Joh 8:34) Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

(1Co 9:27) but I chastise my body, and bring it into servitude, lest by any means, having preached to others--I myself may become disapproved.

(Rom 6:18) Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

(Rom 6:22) But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Okay fine, immortal was the wrong word. What I meant was that angels were created in the very beginning and are still around. So call them what you want. I will give the word it's proper respect from now on.

While we're on the subject, do you feel inclined to call Jesus Yeshua or to call God Yahweh? It comes as a surprise to me that God gave us many languages in the tower of babel when they are easily people who can't even understand what is meant when they speak the same one, lol. Thankfully, Jesus knows them all. Would it please him for us to learn Hebrew? Who knows maybe it would displease him.

Also, excellent passages of scripture you quoted there. Amen to that.

I have read the entire bible but I'm waiting for the day when I will see that it has benefited me to do so. I see others who have heard nothing, read nothing except believed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and they seem to do better than me in their walk and in their faith. by jonahthesign

If it has not benefited you then you do not believe and have not become a child of God filled with His Holy Spirit. God said He has closed the minds, ears, and eyes of those who do not believe.
Accept Jesus as Savior, seek the filling of the Holy Spirit then do not just read the Bible but pray it, study it and ask God to give you the revelations you need from it.

Not trying to put you down just trying to give you something to understand the the Bible is not just something to read.

Hi bro :)
Yea I know what you mean. People running around calling Jesus by cultural or old language names. Some of them really think it means something I guess. I've heard it all I think. But a rose is a rose by any name anyway, and I know Him as Jesus, the Christ of Israel, the Anointing Savior, which is the meaning. Nothing is more important than the "meaning" eh? That's what His Name is all about. Not how it is pronounced. God doesn't even bat an eye what men do and say lol. None of it surprises Him. But for us, the worst is the cross examinations that "christians" tend to judge others with. That is the worst.

Blessings, good to meet you :)

Hello Crosssword,

If you don't mind I am replying because I am a new Christian too and from my experience reading the whole Bible has benefited me enormously, since having the Truth means you won't succumb to any lies Satan tries to pull the wool over your eyes.

For those that read the bible but don't seem to find anything there, this is what Jesus says in John 5:39
You study the scriptures because you think that in them you will find eternal life. And these very scriptures speak about me! Yet you are not willing to come to me in order to have life.

I have learned this as I was chatting with an atheist on a free-thinkers forum, we were discussing the Bible, and she was saying how she read the Bible and knew it better than Christians. (and used it against them) She was quoting many verses but she didn't show any understanding of what she was quoting, and using them all out of context. So it pays to know your bible and understand what it's about.

1Peter 15 says
Be ready at all times to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you, but do it with gentleness and respect. Keep your conscience clear, so that when you are insulted, those who speak evil of your good conduct as followers of Christ will become ashamed of what they say.

I spent a few weeks reading the whole bible and I'm glad I did. You just cannot strictly read the Bible as a reference book that you snip verses out of, as that's how the Devil uses it. Remember the Bible is a narrative as well and it's a grand story from beginning to end and that's how it's best approached by new Christians, then taken from there.

Jesus defeated Satan's temptations by quoting from scripture. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. I know the power of reading the bible when I was caught up in a new age religion, it was because I didn't know my bible very well. But Jesus led me out of it.

The point I'm mainly trying to make is that the Christian should be aware that the adversary is real and is trying to tempt us. It's so easy to think of life as a playground, when it has always been a battleground.

Alice Cooper said it well:

"You couldn't believe in God without believing in the Devil. I always tell bands that the most dangerous thing you can do is to believe in the concept of the Devil or the concept of God, because you're not giving them full credit. When you believe in God, you've got to believe in the all-powerful God. He's not just God, He's the all-powerful God and He has total control over everyone's life. The Devil, on the other hand, is a real character that's trying his hardest to tear your life apart. If you believe that this is just mythology, you're a prime target because you know that's exactly what Satan wants: To be a myth. But he's not a myth, of this I'm totally convinced. More than anything in the world, I'm convinced of that."

Cooper said, "We have to make a choice. And everybody, at some point in their lives, has to make that choice. When people say, 'How do you believe this? Why do you believe this?' I just say nothing else speaks to my heart. This doesn't speak to my intellect, it doesn't speak to my logic - it speaks right to my heart and right to my soul, deeper than anything I've ever thought of. And I totally believe it. That being said, I'm not a very good Christian. I mean, none of us are ever 'good' Christians. That's not the point. When you're a Christian, it doesn't mean you're gonna be good, it means you've got a harder road to pull."
