I prefer what God said, I think what He says should matter, its what we are told to live by Mat 4:4I’m one of the Sabbath keeping posters, and I wrote that it is a good idea whether you think it is Sunday or Saturday, but I was clear that one should not judge and let a person follow their own conviction.

Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.
It does seem like it would be up to us to decide to use the international date line or some other system for calculating daysIt was never pick your Sabbath.
That is true, but there have been many Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox Christians in the last two thousand years (minus about 300) who have faithfully kept the day they think is sacred, and it is up to God to do the judgment. We can present our views, but God knows the heart. If keeping Sunday is a sin, it is against God not man.I prefer what God said, I think what He says should matter, its what we are told to live by Mat 4:4

I did not present my view, I presented God's. That was Him personally writing. No need to make edits to what God said because no one is above Him and He said He would not edit His Words Psa 89:34 The Catholic church may think they have more authority than God to change His times and laws, just as we were warned Dan 7:25 but we are not saved by the CC, we are saved by the blood of Jesus though faith and to live by His every Word, not those changing it, which we are warned Isa 8:20 Pro 3:5-6 Pro 30:5-6. Scripture tells us whoever we obey is who we serve. If one wants to obey Rome, keep Sunday, if one wants to obey God, keep the Sabbath, the way He said Rom 6:16 Exo 20:8-11That is true, but there have been many Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox Christians in the last two thousand years (minus about 300) who have faithfully kept the day they think is sacred, and it is up to God to do the judgment. True! That would be another example of people making decisionsIn polar regions, many keep the Sabbath by the clock rather than the sun.

Brother, this is the passage that answers your question. We have all been told, beginning with Adam and Eve, about God's rest in the first week, when God made His rest on that day "holy".where do we find in all of scripture where Gentiles have ever been commanded to keep holy any day and not just the Sabbath? You and all the other Sabbath observing posters keep telling the non observers we are wrong for not being observant yet have never answered my repeated question.
God said Remember the Sabbath day to keep the Sabbath hoy. The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. Exo 20:8-11By writing “We can present our views,” I simply meant that it is one thing to say “God commands that we keep the Sabbath based on this and this scripture” and another is to say “you are a sinner by not keeping the Sabbath.” The first presents what is written in the Bible. The latter is passing judgment that is not our place. Of course, the Roman Church has no right to change the word of God, but the person who follows the teaching of the Roman Church doesn’t know that and tries to do the best they can to please God, assuming they have accepted Christ. It is the difference between presenting a teaching and judgment.

The way I see it, it's a commandment that is fulfilled by loving other peopleIt is a commandment, not a suggestion or optiinal.
Sin is the transgression of God’s law 1 John 3:4 pointing right to the Ten Commandments Mat 5:19-30 Rom 7:7 breaking one we break them all James 2:10-12
Can we alter what covet means and think it’s not sin. Sure, but sadly we are following our own law, our own truth, our own righteousness and not God’s. Psa 119:172 Psa 119:151. Every time we believe a lie, the devil takes more control over our minds 1 John 2:4 Jesus wants to set us free, and only His Truth does John 8:32 why we are told to live by His Word Mat 4:4
I think its always best to obey God the way He said, but we are given free will.
Everything you wrote is true, but it is God through the Holy Spirit that convicts one of sin. Let God deal with His own children. Teach, if that is what you are called to do, but let God do His work in His time. Things that I thought were sins many years ago, I see as seeking self-righteousness today. Things that I thought were good, I see as selfish pride today. We grow in the grace of God until we die.God said Remember the Sabbath day to keep the Sabbath hoy. Of course the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts of sin, all I did was point out what the scriptures says. What one does with that is up to them. Jesus tells us to teach each other the commandments Mat 5:19, so I believe Jesus wants us to help our brethren who might be taking a wrong direction and have a misunderstanding of the scriptures. Part of the gospel message we are to tell the world is to repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. Luke 24:47 Mat 4:17 Today is the day of Salvation 2 Cor 6:2 for we know not what tomorrow brings. Its not God that wants us to wait until tomorrow to obey Him, He says today if we hear His voice Heb 3:7-8Everything you wrote is true, but it is God through the Holy Spirit that convicts one of sin. Brother, the problem is that we are not asking God the right question through prayer when we expect the answer to be one of two possibilities: Sunday or Saturday, when both options are wrong and no one has the truth about the biblical Sabbath since Joshua. I believe sincere Christians have been asking God if they should abandon Sunday for Saturday without getting an affirmation from God because Saturday, as the Sabbath, has been a human tradition, like Sunday since Joshua in the following passage.Under the old covenant, questions like this could be resolved by inquiring of the Lord with the Thummim and Urim.
Brother, what does an affirmation from God look like today, without Levites with Thummim and Urim?Brother, the problem is that we are not asking God the right question through prayer when we expect the answer to be one of two possibilities: Sunday or Saturday, when both options are wrong and no one has the truth about the biblical Sabbath since Joshua. Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. (Hebrews 4:8 NLT)

Brother, the conviction that there is an answer for me comes from knowing that the answer did not originate in me. Most of the time God doesn’t seem to give me an answer, but sometimes He does. When I first came to Andrews University, I asked the Lord between two women about which one I should pursue. I felt that one was more likely to accept me than the other. I received a clear answer right away: not to pursue the one who was more likely to accept me. I believe God was protecting her from me, because I wasn’t ready for her, and she was ready for someone else. She got married within a year and I got nowhere with the other one.Brother, what does an affirmation from God look like today, without Levites with Thummim and Urim?
There was reason posted.Out of the 65 or so versions I copied only 2 used the word Holy. a couple used sacred. Your conclusion is that the verse could not have any relation to the Sabbath. You didn't give a reason why. When I asked why you answered: "no, the word holy is not in the Greek." Most all versions do not use the word holy. That doesn't seem to be a reason the verse could not mean Sabbath now does it?
One man esteemeth one day above another; another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. Rom14:5
New covenant scripture makes it very clear that Gentiles were never obligated to observe the Sabbath and the old covenant made it clear that if a gentile WANTED to become kosher they had to be circumcised. So, once again, I ask, where do we find in all of scripture where Gentiles have ever been commanded to keep holy any day and not just the Sabbath? You and all the other Sabbath observing posters keep telling the non observers we are wrong for not being observant yet have never answered my repeated question.

I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. (1 John 5:13-15 NLT)

Your zeal for the Lord is good to see. The discussion between you and me on presenting Sabbath observance was initiated by Bob's post #278 where he expressed frustration with the presentation. We don't have a disagreement about the meaning of Scripture. I do find it interesting that I can't find a place in the New Testament where Jesus (Revelation) or any of the apostles correct gentiles about when to keep the Sabbath. All types of sins are condemned, but the keeping of Sabbath doesn't seem to be there. Maybe I missed an example. That is not proof that not keeping Sabbath is not a sin, but it might color the presentation.Of course the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts of sin, all I did was point out what the scriptures says.
