...Because that's reserved for the Sabbath.

Comments and criticisms are welcomed.
The Lord's day is a celebration of Christ's resurrection, the Sabbath is a celebration of God's rest. They occur on different days and have a different focus. today they are often conflated as one day, and although abstractly this is not a problem, it tends to promote confusion about the purpose of the two days and how they work under Christ.

Is part of the reason some reject Sunday because we are told by the ancient Church that the Sunday is the primary day of worship and Gathering for the Church instead of the bible explicitly mandating it to us? If so, this reasoning implies that the Church has been fundamentally mistaken on this topic since at least the second century. Not that there haven't been eccentrics throughout the centuries who claim that Saturday ought to be the primary day of worship, but It would neglect the testimony of the Church in favour of a particular interpretation of scripture.

The Church subsequent to the New Testament used that book as it's primary model for worship and liturgical orientation rather than the Old Testament. Hence why we don't follow Hebrew customs, because we're not under that old law, but under Christ's. Hence everything in the historic Churches liturgy revolves around Christ, his specific actions, his specific teachings. That's why there's a Sunday of the prodigal son. That's why Sunday, the day Christ rose from the dead has been treated with so much reverence.

If those who insist on Saturday worship refuse to recognize the Christological approach of the Church in even this, then we are of two completely different minds. For us Sunday worshippers, Christ is at the center of everything.

"Under the law" does not mean that we are now free to break God's law according to the new covenant scriptures *Romans 3:19. No one is "under the law" if they have received Gods forgiveness for their sins and no longer continuing in them. We are only "under the law" according to Romans 3:19 if we stand before God guilty of breaking the law because the role of God's law in the new covenant is to give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 and to lead us to Christ so that we might be forgiven through faith and made free to be born again to walk in God's Spirit *Galatians 3:22-25; Romans 8:1-4; Romans 3:31; Galatians 5:16; 1 John 3:6-9. God's 4th commandment of the 10 commandments which is the Sabbath commandments *Exodus 20:8-11 is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken and according to James if we break anyone of them we stand guilty before God of sin *James 2:10-11. There is no scripture in all of God's Word that says God's 4th commandment has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day of rest. This is a man-made teaching and tradition that has led many either knowingly or unknowingly to break God's 4th commandment. Jesus says if we knowingly follow man-made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God we are not worshiping God in Matthew 15:3-9. The question then we should all be considering is who do we believe and follow; God or men?

The 7th day Sabbath is the only one that is called "The Holy Day of the Lord" in the Bible. Isaiah 58:13

That is never said of "week day 1" or what the Bible calls "the first day" of the week.
That quote (Isaiah 58:13) was from the Old Testament (old covenant). We are in a new covenant (New Testament) now.

The old covenant was sealed with animal blood, whereas the new covenant was sealed with the blood of Christ. Two very different covenants.

That phrase, 'under the law', means simply that you must obey the law. The phrase, 'the law', means the entire law, the Torah. The law never means just the ten commandments or the two greatest commandments.

The apostles and Jesus were subject to the entire law being Jews.

Gentiles were never under the law.

Acts 15:19-20
Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles, but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood.

Do you listen to the apostles or do you do what your church tells you to do?

No. "Under the law" does not mean that you must obey the law. Where is that scripture? As posted earlier to be "under the law" according to Romans 3:19 means we stand before God guilty of breaking the law.

Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law said, it said to them who are under the law: THAT EVERY MOUTH MIGHT BE STOPPED AND ALL THE WORLD MAY BECOME GUILTY BEFORE GOD.

The context of Romans 3:19 is Romans 3:9-19 which Paul says both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin *Romans 3:9 and there is none righteous no not one *Romans 3:10.

The role of God's law in the new covenant is to give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 and to lead us to Christ so that we might be forgiven through faith and made free to be born again to walk in God's Spirit *Galatians 3:22-25; Romans 8:1-4; Romans 3:31; Galatians 5:16; 1 John 3:6-9.

Hey brother I have a question in regards to Rom 3:19. Is there a difference between the phrases in the law and under the law?

Depends on the Greek 1722: ἐν context that determines its application. In the case of Romans 3:19 the reference "in" or "under" is to the law but within scripture and chapter context the application is to the whole world becoming guilty before God of breaking the law (sin) *Romans 3:9-20. Paul stating why in v20 that the role of the law is to give us a knowledge of what sin is.

Hello LGW, the law showed us that we are sinners...So being under the law is being under the ' power of Sin' both Jews and Gentiles..as it written; All have sinned and fall short of Glory of God...

So here is a question for you; if the law gives us the knowledge of Sin, then how long would it takes for you to turn to Christ for the forgiveness of those sins?

Not really. There is no scripture that says the Lords day is the first day. I think we need to be careful adding words to scriptures that are not there. Gods Sabbath is not a celebration of His rest. God told us what His Sabbath is and its the day we are supposed to keep Holy every seventh day.

5 Exodus 20 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

These are Gods spoken and written Words.

God told us we are to do work and labor on his first day, so that could not be the Lords Day, but in contrast He said THE seventh day is THE Sabbath of the Lord your God so that is Gods real Lords day.

Proverbs 30

Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
6 Do not add to His words,
Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

God bless

So by your philosophy there is no law and we are free to sin?
Do you WANT to sin?
That is the true question. Follow the desires of your heart. If you have an old-man heart, then you cannot help but violate God's Law. If you have a new heart, born from above by the Holy Spirit then you will desire not merely the letter of the Law, but the spirit of the Father ... to love what God loves and hate what God hates.

There is no biblical support for Jonah being in the belly of the fish for only one and one half days. Jesus also described a day as having 24 hours; 12 hours of daylight, 12 hours of darkness. Three days and three nights is the time frame of the event.
Was Luke uninspired and needs to be moved to the Apocrypha?

Who is WE kemosabe?

[Acts of the Apostles 15:28-29]
"For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials:
that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well. Farewell."

First you need to define what sin is. We are told sin is the transgression of the law 1 John 3:4. Previously you indicated there is no law as it was made only to Jews. Now you’re saying there is sin so that means there must be laws.

Interesting idea. .. is there a Bible text that actually says that.?

Colossians 2:16-17
Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

Luke 4:31
And he went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And he was teaching them on the Sabbath,

Hebrews 4:9-10
So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Do you listen to the apostles or do you do what your church tells you to do?

So if you are not "under the law", using your "logic", that means you do not have to obey it...right? If there is no law, then there is no sin...so why do you need grace? Acts ARE laws...Noahide laws. BTW, finish quoting the the rest of that passage...for some odd reason, that is always omitted...

No one could keep or was required to keep the entire law...that is a fallacy...it was impossible....

No one ever could keep all "613"...that is a fallacy

That is the point. Good!

If you wish to keep the Law, then you must keep all 613 laws.
Break even one and you are guilty of them all.

So then every person would need forgiveness.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Matthew 6:15

But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
