Your answer is an example of confirmation bias.
I have a feeling that what scientists call "confirmation bias", Christians call "worship."

It's one of those:

Thanks to science, a "child in the womb" is now called a "fetus."

Are these examples of confirmation bias to you?

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

You really know little of Islam. The Bible is a holy book to the Muslims and is not considered to be in error.

The interpretation of Christians of it is however.

No. Islam considers the bible corrupted. They only consider it correct insofar as it agrees with the quran. Which effectively renders the bible as low as any other book.

In Guantanamo, when a Koran was destroyed, the U.S. soldiers are not allowed to just throw it away.

They have to have an official Muslim priest present, wrap it in a "holy cloth", and dispose of it ceremoniously.

In the Gaza strip, U.S. soldiers throw the Bible out in the dumpster with the other trash.

Feel better now?

wikipedia said:
Confirmation bias (also called confirmatory bias or myside bias) is the tendency of people to favor information that confirms their beliefs or hypotheses

That, coupled with circular reasoning is what you do.

So if "worship" to you means stripping yourself from the ability to think rationally about something, then yes.

It's one of those:

Thanks to science, a "child in the womb" is now called a "fetus."

I don't understand the analogy. It seems pretty random.

I have no interest in your bible quotes unless they are used in context of an attempt to answer the question of the thread.

If you do not intend to have a serious go at it, then just take a hike

I don't care one bit who treats those books in whatever ways. To me they are just pages with ink.

Either have a go at answering the question, or take a hike

What Christians call "worship," scientists call "confirmation bias."

So it's no wonder you want me to go.

You are welcome to stay and attempt to answer the question. You can take a hike in all other cases.

Meanwhile, 7 pages. No answer.

Do you really expect an answer, when you have used science to filter out everything we hold sacred?

Science can go to Hell, where it belongs.

What Christians call "worship," scientists call "confirmation bias."

So it's no wonder you want me to go.

Before we move on, let's define what these two terms mean.

Confirmation Bias:

"In psychology and cognitive science, confirmation bias (or confirmatory bias) is a tendency to search for or interpret information in a way that confirms one's preconceptions, leading to statistical errors.
Confirmation bias is a type of cognitive bias and represents an error of inductive inference toward confirmation of the hypothesis under study.
Confirmation bias is a phenomenon wherein decision makers have been shown to actively seek out and assign more weight to evidence that confirms their hypothesis, and ignore or underweigh evidence that could disconfirm their hypothesis.
As such, it can be thought of as a form of selection bias in collecting evidence."

Worship:

": the act of showing respect and love for a god especially by praying with other people who believe in the same god : the act of worshipping God or a god

: excessive admiration for someone"

Now that you know what each one is, I think that you know that worship is not the same as confirmation bias.

So, if you can give an answer that does not use confirmation bias so that you stop distracting the thread that would be appreciated.

You are using science right now. The device you're using to post on this thread, the clothes you are wearing that probably came from some factory, the food that your body is digesting from Agricultural science. If it went to "where it belongs" you would go right along with it.

I'm leaving, but you're welcome to stay and help get the post count in this thread to 490.

I want to test my confirmation bias.

I'm not talking about that kind of science.

I'm talking about Egyptian science.

The kind you guys prefer, but don't understand.

You keep saying you're going to 'take a hike' and that these threads go on forever and serve no point etc (basically what you said) then why are you still here? If you know these serve no purpose but continue to post you're basically spamming this thread.

I'm not using science. Just this little concept of thinking logically.

And AV, you're done. Really. Just stop.

This is my last post here, DH -- I promise -- until the post count hits 490, if it does.

Before I go, I'm just curious:

Since this Sunday is Easter, will you be joining us Christians in church as we go to exercise our confirmation bias?

Great. So if I ask someone why we don't go floating into space instead of falling back to earth when we jump, and he tells me that we are caught in the undetectable rubber that is emitted by the earth which makes us always fall back to earth... it's ok to believe that if I happen to "like" that exlanation?

Do you perhaps have a more reliable methodology? This one doesn't seem that efficient.

Tell you what, think about why it would be silly of me to believe the rubber story (which can't be falsified btw...) :p. Then think about why I should be believing Newton en Einstein's gravity story instead.

Then apply those rules to both of these religious books.

I look forward to when you report your results.

If you are interested in science, then do not read the Bible nor the Quran. Read your text book.

When you ask question, the question should be a proper one, so that at least one of the Book can provide you some kind of answer.

I don't see christians present any different kind of evidence or arguments that I get from muslims. To me, the arguments of both seem either completely fallacious or horribly insufficient to warrant belief.

Let's try a question: What is the origin of the world?

What does the Quran say?
What does the Bible say?

Have you compared them yet?
