No, and neither were you. Since there's nothing to suggest that it actually happened, it's not history, and shouldn't be taught in history classes - that would, after all, give children the mistaken impression that it's right. Were you there?
You were there?
how could he? it never answers.According to Adam, he himself wasn't there.
Or are you questioning the Bible?
I thought you didn't question your God?
That is not a valid reason for teaching creationism in myth class in public schools. The thing with history is it requires some sort of evidence outside something that's written at the time. Just like with science, you'll hear historians use words like "probably" and "may have" when they don't have some kind of, say, archaeological evidence to support it.
We know pilgrims came and colonized the North American continent not because there are people here now and people wrote about it, but because there are tons of artifacts and logs supporting it all.
The creation story in the bible is no more or less history as Star Wars (which also happened long long ago and exists only in media form).
That is not a valid reason for teaching creationism in myth class in public schools.
Again, it needs to be taught in history class as history, and if it needs further clarification -- such as what you just said here -- then so be it.
But one thing the teacher/instructor needs to make very clear, is the fact that creationism would not have generated any evidence.
I think I've decided I'm OK with creationism....
...so long as there is an learned, secular expert (in history, evolution, biology, physics, etc; coinciding with that day's sermon) in each church nationwide that offers an alternative to everything the pastor teaches (or what is taught in Sunday school, Bible studies, etc, etc). Equal time must be granted to said expert to present his/her counter or alternative.
Or we can stop being ridiculous.
No, just like creatio ex nihilo -- 1Just like Apollo riding his chariot across the sky, or any of Homer's voyages, or Icarus flying toward the sun, or Orpheus playing his Lyre at the river Styx or Star Wars.
No, actually, it doesn't.What an odd coincidence that it has so much in common with a bunch of stories that never actually happened.
If we have to teach the controversy, then I think the Satanists should have right to express their version. Muslims and Jews also. etc.
In the end I think they don't need secular expert. One of the Muslims may have a bomb.
So when a bright young student raises their hand and asks, "how is it possible there was no evidence," the teacher might say.... what, exactly? But one thing the teacher/instructor needs to make very clear, is the fact that creationism would not have generated any evidence.

Yet in many cases there is evidence to the contrary. So god is a deceitful... or your wrong. take your pick.
No, thanks -- there are too many other options.Yet in many cases there is evidence to the contrary. So god is a deceitful... or your wrong. take your pick.
So when a bright young student raises their hand and asks, "how is it possible there was no evidence," the teacher might say.... what, exactly?
Follow-up question from bright sixth grader might be, "Teacher, are you saying you can magically create an apple in your hand?" "Would you do that for us right now?"
I'm guessing his response will be something along the lines of, "God did it, case closed."
