Really, it's just a matter that our perspectives are really different. I think we have both explained ourselves, I don't see much to gain from going down this path. I'm getting the feeling we are running circles around eachother.

You do see the irony of two non-christians debating over what a christian is :p

Scroll to the bottom of this page, and you should find a link that says "Be a Christian". Click and read. Enjoy! Believe!

Shalom Orontes,

Much of the documents used by Christians today to define themselves, are rejected by Mormons becuase in that era, the world was in Apostacy until the gospels were restored to Joseph Smith.

Shalom,

My question was your definition of a Christian. If you make distinctions between Christians and other faith traditions: what is the criteria for determining Christian status both presently and historically?

Note: Mormons do not deny Christian standing or the label for those self-identifying sects or individuals during the Apostasy. Rather, the saving authority is considered absent: the Priesthood (the authority to act in God's name) was missing.

EDIT: You deal realize, one has to READ the article, and judge it based on it's content. Not by what Web provider they go with.

Seems to be a common issue

Shalom Orontes,

I've given this issue some more thought. As of right now, I stand corrected. I have to reasses some things about "Christanity" and the LDS Church. So, as of right now, I'll get my foot out of my mouth, pop a mentos to get rid of the taste of shoe, and take another look at this.

So, I am afraid your questions are going to have to go unanswered

Okay,

By the way: Happy Chanukah!

"I will insist the Hebrews have [contributed] more to civilize men than any other nation. If I was an atheist and believed in blind eternal fate, I should still believe that fate had ordained the Jews to be the most essential instrument for civilizing the nations … They are the most glorious nation that ever inhabited this Earth. The Romans and their empire were but a bubble in comparison to the Jews. They have given religion to three-quarters of the globe and have influenced the affairs of mankind more and more happily than any other nation, ancient or modern."

I don't think I have the fortitude to wade through the pages upon pages of discussion that would spawn.
I understand, may be asking everyone to explain the trinity in their own words and no discussion. I am thinking about changing from “rabbi” to “sage,” what do you think?

BourbonFromHeaven said:
That begs the question, of how an omnipresent, perfect being, stands next to it. As Arunma stated, even Christians don't take the Psalms reading that literal, however, Mormons do have classic portraits of Joseph Smith's vision, where there the actual son and father and standing next to each other, you wouldn't see that in any other form of Christianity.
I was actually playing on words, but it doesn’t matter. When did Arunma speak for the entire Christian community, did I miss the memo? Yet, you’ll hear them differentiate God the Father and Son so I do not see a difference.

BourbonFromHeaven said:
If it semantics, why do most Christian denominations do not see the LDS church as an accurate form of Christianity? Why do educated Christians continue to engage in apologetics over the nature of the Godhead with Mormon apologists? Why do educated people, on both sides, cannot see it as an issue of semantics?
So, you have never seen a discussion where both sides (educated) could not see the issue of semantics?

Christian in the nominal sense. I think we have discussed her past before and I know her journey has landed her now, presently, with a much broader spiritual and metaphyiscal belief.

(Plug time), since she runs this on-line store; http://www.cassiopeiascorner.com/index.html

I would think the definition for her would be a bit to limiting for her.

Her server's down until January.

That's what happens when you use Windows. :p

I think it would be lost on most people.

I got the memo, last week along with the one about the new cover sheets on the TPS reports. Do you need a copy? :p

The debates I am reffering to, are between both Christian and Mormon scholars. I would think, these people could see an issue of semantics.

excuse me? Who is we? You got a mouse in your pocket? Because YOU and I have not discussed anything about me. You do not know my past or my present and the fact I run an online store that caters to many different spiritual paths does not limit me from being Christian.

I would appreciate it if you would edit your post and remove the link to my store as I believe posting it will violate forum rules.

If you don't believe that what I've said is true, then please study the patristic writings, specifically the heresy of Modalism.

It’s not about believing you; it’s about you speaking for the entire Christian community, in which you don’t. If different ideologies and or interpretations exclude sects then nobody is a Christian.

LDS (Mormons) accepts Jesus Christ as their leader, their king, their savior. They accept his divinity, his life, and his atonement.

Thank you. That is indeed a true statment. It is unfortunage, but anyone who believes otherwise, does not understand our teachings. Yes, we have a different understanding of many things Scripture entails, but we do believe in Christ, and none other.

Thank you for saying the truth.
