If science is enough to make them lose their faith, then maybe their faith wasn't as strong you or they thought. Just saying...

And you make a good point.

But there's more to it than that.

There's hearing it.

Then believing it.

Then embracing it.

Then investing your treasures in it.

Then having questions your pastor/priest can't answer.

Then eventually denouncing your beliefs in favor of atheism.

Can you quote Paul saying that scientific theories will lead Christians to atheism?

I would argue the opposite - false beliefs, if somebody identify them with Christianity, can lead such Christians to atheism, when those false beliefs are scientifically proven wrong. If you teach somebody that Christianity means believing in the Flat Earth or in the Global Flood or in the YEC, they may loose their faith, after recognizing those are not true.
Not to mention the gross insult to any god that
might exist.

This isn't paraphrasing. This is just you altering the text of the Bible to say something it's not.

If you don't want to understand what I'm saying, then I understand.

Else you'd be prompted to agree with me.

Or not.

Ignorance is bliss.

I would 100% say that it's a question about the strength of their faith over anything else. Because I refuse to accept your claim that just accepting science inevitably leads to atheism.

No, I understand 100% what you're saying.

You're adding to the Bible, which is obviously A-OK when someone such as you does it, even though you're a literalist, but hey, literalism can take a long hike off a short pier when you want it to, no?

C'mon now.

How many people have you met that have said:

"I used to be a Christian. Then I had questions I asked my pastor, and he told me to take a hike. So I did."

I kind of agree. Its shameful to hold false ideas as truth and dismissing evidence to the contrary, while professing believing in the God who said much about truth, wisdom and purity.

I would tend to agree, if I didn't know how powerfully convincing the Devil can be.

The Devil is a loser and deserves to be treated as such.

I was specifically talking about evolution.

And it's still science, and your claim is still bunk. You don't personally know how many Christians have had their faith strengthened by reading about the science of evolution.

Or are they only Christians when they agree with you?

I'll say this much.

Only I can make a deist complain someone is adding to the Bible, can't I? ;)

All theories can be tested, including the theory of evolution. No theory can be proved.
Technically it can be tested. But it takes a long time to test. Longer than mankind has roamed the earth. And because of that I don't even see it as a subject for a Christian site. It belongs on a Science site. Science is about how. Religion is about why. And "why" is the higher pursuit, IMO. But science is a lot of fun and trying to figure out how creation works brings all sorts of benefits. It's how we can use these cool computers and phones. :)

It will take as long to resolve the issue regarding evolution as it took the first single cell to evolve, and I just don't have the time.

And other Christians. It's not just me who take umbrage with your extra-Biblical claims.

And yet... this Christian website has a science forum.... the very same forum we are typing on just now.

Now that's just interesting...

Says you.

That's true.

I don't.

Or are they only Christians when they agree with you?

In my opinion, if they say they are Christians, then I'll do my best to treat them as such.

But if indeed their faith was strengthened by the science of evolution, then I'm going to w/h commenting.

Except to say I'm glad they "beat the odds."

Others though, become a victim of what Paul warned about.
