Why Jehovah? Why not Allah or Krishna?

Hi,

I'm new here.

I'm Muslim, and I came to this forum to learn a little more, and seek knowledge about Christianity.

Sorry to say this, but I think perhaps some of the posters in this thread need to do the same - learn and seek knowledge.

Some of the comments here are so disrespectful, and just broadcast your ignorance to anyone who's reading it.

Hi and thanks to Milla, Christian_Victor and others, for injecting a bit of sanity and fairness.

Peace be on you all.

JayJ

P.S. The link posted in the 2nd post about why Islam fails to meet the mark, is factually incorrect, and grossly misinterpreted to justify the author's own prejudices.

Not exactly. To name a few others...
Well, "substance monotheism" is really pantheism, and Zoroastrianism is perhaps better described as dualistic (Mazda vs Ahriman), not monotheistic.

However, there are indeed some smaller cousins of Christianity and Islam (such as Rastafarianism).

Only if belief in a trinty is as well, in which case very few Christians are monotheists. It's very much the same concept - God is one but presents in different forms.

It was my understanding that Zoroastrianism was initially monotheistic but a subgroup of the followers developed a devotion to a secondary god, and that then that subgroup became dominant...that the religion went from monotheistic to dualistic. That's oversimplified, of course...please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Welcome to the forum, JayJ, and thank you for the reps. I've seen your posts around and I really admire your attitude of respectful knowledge-seeking...this place would be really fantastic if more folks followed your lead.

I look forward to discussing various theological issues with you :)
