Why Japan, China, and most of the world is in big demographic trouble (but the U.S. is not)

I'm sure there are a lot of hard-working illegals who pay taxes but there are a few that don't.
Kinda like American citizens who cheat on their taxes. The key is, illegal immigrants tend to be more law-abiding than native-born Americans are.
The problem is not them it's our politicians who use them to divide us. Obama wanted amnesty Republicans shot it down and when Trump wanted amnesty Democrats/Republicans shot it down. This show neither wants it. Seems they only mention it when the opposing party owns Congress.
Lots of political theater, but as you see, our economy depends on those people. Not a good situation, but so long as they come in and build our economy, no one feels a need to fix it.

The only way that illegals can avoid taxes is with the help of US employers paying them under the table.

Which party is it that is opposed to funding IRS investigators again?
The issue is that hiring more accountants and investigators for the IRS will make it easier to get to large corporations and wealthy individuals who are tax cheats. In fact, the bill assured that none of the new personnel would be focusing on poor or middle-class taxpayers. This is why the republicans were so angry about it. It targets the very people who give them most of their money.

And that happens a lot. But with American citizens as well.

If illegals are such a boon for the economy then perhaps we need to get rid of the minimum wage. Illegals are paid off the books, under the table, for less than legal citizens are legally allowed yet they produce similar output.

Unfortunately, illegal immigration essentially creates a slave class. Similar can be said for citizens who are paid under the table and off the books. Are slaves good for the economy? If so, then how do we square that with the ethical implications of supporting such a broken system?

I'm all for immigration, but it needs to be regulated so wages can be fair etc. In other words, legal immigration. People coming across the border must receive competitive pay for their work. This should also, in turn, better allow citizens to compete.

Oh it's a boon, for those who profit off illegal labor and it downward pressure on wages. Interferer with that allowing wages for hard manual work to rise and suddenly "No one wants to work!" and the poor mouthing become deafening.

Sadly so true! The economy does need these idiots who think money grows on trees. But we need to elect people who understand what their fiscal policies are doing to this country. The racking up of debt is unsustainable. No one feels the need because they are as ignorant as I was until Mar 2022.

"But some economists say not all debt is bad."

I agree, Do we need to spend money on all these proxy wars? Do we need to give money to countries that don't like us? Trigger alert: Do we need to give money to non-Americans? BTW I am for amnesty or at least a green card system for more tax dollars. More oversite on their spending. Just stop the waste. Bottom line we need to educate ourselves for our kid's sake.

Sure, schrodinger's immigrant, at once taking all our jobs and living lavishly off programs they don't have access to.

You're bringing up points that politicians fear to even acknowledge as real.

This is where you can talk to your politicians and have all undocumented issued a work permit and a work requirement. To where these employers can not hide them under the table.

Sending money to nations that send their poor just incentivizes sending more poor.
Worked in that case. Reducing crime in specific countries also decreased refugees from that country. Go figure.

In 2019, 286,248 native‐born Americans, 14,010 illegal immigrants, and 15,692 legal immigrants were convicted of crimes in Texas. Thus, 1,190 natives were convicted for every 100,000 natives, 749 illegal immigrants for every 100,000 illegal immigrants, and 510 legal immigrants for every 100,000 legal immigrants (Figure 1). As a percentage of their respective populations, illegal immigrants were more than 37.1 percent less likely to be convicted of a crime than native‐born Americans. Legal immigrants were about 57.2 percent less likely to be convicted of a crime than native‐born Americans.

No, I will not be doing that.
Maybe it's this type of attitude with most for a dumpster fire of the republic? We love complaining about the issues but do not want to fix them. How would you keep employers from paying under the table?

Doubt it.

Incorrect. I’m all for fixing it but giving visas to all illegal economic migrants isn’t a solution I’m in favor of.

How would you keep employers from paying under the table?
Strict enforcement, more secure id required for employment, fines that make it unprofitable to make use of illegal labor.
