'Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect.
For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children:
but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. (Genesis 21:12) That is,
They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God:
but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
(Rom 9:6)
'I say then, Hath God cast away His people? God forbid.
For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
God hath not cast away His people which He foreknew.
Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias?
how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,
there is a remnant according to the election of grace.'
(Rom 11:1-5)
Hello @BABerean2,
The subject of the thread is, 'Why Israel is set aside'. This prompted the question you have asked, with the Scriptures from Romans quoted above. Yet it is obvious that it is Israel after the flesh which is the subject, because the believing remnant of Israel have been called out and secured in Christ. It is the nation of Israel which in AD70 was destroyed and it's inhabitants scattered throughout the nations.
* I do not see what Matthew 1:1, Galatians 3:16, or John 1:49, that you quote, have to do with Israel's lo-ammi condition at this time.
* This condition is temporary, for God has not 'cast away' His People.
Thank you

'Lord, they have killed Thy prophets, and digged down thine altars;
and I am left alone, and they seek my life.'
But what saith the answer of God unto him? and I am left alone, and they seek my life.'
'I have reserved to Myself seven thousand men,
who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.' (1 Kings 19:10-18)
Even so then at this present time alsowho have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.' (1 Kings 19:10-18)
there is a remnant according to the election of grace.'
(Rom 11:1-5)
Which of the two Israels found in Romans 9:6-8, and Romans 11:1-5 are you talking about?
Are you talking about Israel of the "flesh", or Israel of the "promise", which is the "remnant" found in Romans 11:5, and also in Romans 9:27.

The ultimate fulfillment of Israel is found in Matthew 1:1, as confirmed by Paul in Galatians 3:16. Christ is both the Son of God and the King of Israel in the verse below.
Joh 1:49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
* This condition is temporary, for God has not 'cast away' His People.
