• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The question is meaningless and unanswerable. If there were a cause for "something", that cause would itself be a "something". You cannot explain the existence of "something" by a prior "something". There cannot be an answer to this kind of riddle.

I believe there is a God, and I believe that he created every thing.

But for you atheists, why is there something rather than nothing?

Exactly. Without a creator, space wouldn't even exist. Neither would time. Much less the energies that supposedly caused the Big Bang or whatever. There wouldn't even be light or darkness. Nothing would exist. Existance wouldn't even exist. Atheism makes no sense.

And neither would God.

It's like asking why there is seven instead of vompatral.

Lol, I ask a question atheists cannot awnser(or refuse to awnser, and simply make fun of my question).

Why cant the awnser it, because it is impossible, right? You dont have an awnser. You DONT have any reason why there IS something, do you?

Us theists believe God is the reason for "something".

PS, my God is powerful enough to do that.

Are your theorys powerful enough to explain why there is something?

I can not agree. Atheism makes as much sense as theism, just because there is the eternal problem of first cause is no reason to assume that God must have done it, after all we can’t answer the first cause problem either, where did the creator come from? If a creator does not need a first cause why does the big bang need one?

The big bang is not a conventional explosion, it is an expansion of a quantum singularity event. At or about T=0 the laws of physics do not apply. Saying atheism makes no sense just because their answer to,
“What is first cause?” has to be “We don’t yet know” is disingenuous when the only answer we can give to “Where did God come from?” is “God is eternal and does not need a cause”.

God of gaps much?
So who created your creator... or how did he come into existance?
If you say he's eternal... then why can't space and all matter be likewise for the atheist?

They are not making fun of your question they are demonstrating that you are applying diferent rules to your answer than you do their answer.

Just because we don’t know the answer to the question yet does not make it impossible that there is an answer. We didn’t used to have an answer to why things don’t fall of the planet, now we do.

Lonnie said:

There are several compelling theories that may answer how it could have happened. As a Theist I believe there is a God, but I don’t believe that in lieu of an answer to where things came from. If people only believe in God to answer the question of where everything came form, I find that rather depressing.

Ok you guys, think about this logicaly, how could there be something rather than nothing?

Our Choices, either something(or some one) created something(he decided to do create something).

Or what?

Or something always existed and we just don't know all there is to know aboutthe nature ofhte universe yet. Well, since we already know that we don't know everything there is to know about the nature of the universe, thats not much of a stretch.
