I have an honest question, and while I know I'm not really supposed to be talking with you guys because I'm not a Christian (Christian only forum), I would really like an answer.

You see, I feel like I'm doing something wrong in life. By believing in nothing, and holding nothing as truth aside from science. I constantly make genuine attempts to adopt some kind of belief in Christianity.

    The problem?

Every time I try, I just find it so hard to accept. And this is not a troll, or a flame, or anyhting to impose negative feelings toward someone esle. I truly want to have faith, it's just I don't know how. I tried reading the bible page to page, but I just get lost.

What can one do to believe in something, when everything in their life makes it hard for them to accept?

Can anyone here understand my dillemma? EVERYTHING in my life turns me to atheism. And everytime I even have so much as a thought of accepting Jesus Christ as a savior, I am filled with doubts, embarrasment... even Shame.

I hope someone on here can understand where I am coming from.

A little background. I was born and raised Jewish, and I have been always tought Jewish values. This is what I believe turned me away from God more than anything else. You see, my people do not view God (or at least it doesn't feel this way) as a loving, kind father figure. But as a malicious figure who would send you to an eternity of damnation for a single error. My people are not brought up with the overwelming belief in forgiveness, so I decided early on in my life that I could not subject a God that put such a burdern on his people.

Now as I understand it, Jesus Christ lifted SOME of that burden, by forgiving us our sins.

But why do I find it so hard to believe?

I hope I don't get banned for posting in your Christian Advice forum, I understand that I'm really not supposed to be here. I was just hoping someone could help me out with this dilemma.

You will not be banned for coming here and speaking the truth but seeking the way to get rid of that hollow feeling or having an itch you can't scratch. Know it or not this is a BLESSING from GOD. For you will never find peace in you life till you find GOD.

While you may have made an attempt to find GOD you have never GIVEN IT ALL TO GOD

GOD demands that you give HIM your WHOLE heart, mind, strength, and soul. That means you go in prayer and tell GOD that you will do this and from that moment on seek GOD in all your decisions. Then pick up GOD'S ROAD MAP to the KINGDOM of ALMIGHTY GOD ( BIBLE ) and start reading the NEW TESTIMENT till the next time you read it you will already know what IT'S going to say. For then it's locked in your heart to draw from for the rest of your life. You will NEVER be sorry you did.

After this is complete GOD will know. For HE searches the heart. HE will then send HIS HOLY SPIRIT ( ANOINTED-BORN AGAIN- SAVED ). For it is then that you shall receive the MISSION GOD has for just you and supply all your needs, even what you have not the ability to have.

Take all your past sins and lay them at JESUS FEET and ask for forgiveness so that they will be washed away with HIS BLOOD. This will take a big load off your shoulders.

Do yourself a BIG FAVOR and Start right now!!!

    Chapter 6

33 But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides

We come to the Father by faith. This is a very hard thing for some to grasp but it's the only way to come. Jesus stands at the door knocking it's up to you to open it and recieve his special gift. Go to the Father in prayer, repent of your sins and by having faith in Jesus as savior you are saved. The Holy Spirit will then reside in you, he will comfort and guide you through the scriptures so that you can understand them.

Perhaps that is part of the problem. You reccomended to me to read the new test. The truth is, I have NEVER read the new testament. Everytime I start, I get caught up in the Old testament. I haven't actually heard the word of Jesus, because I get so.... What's the proper way of saying this. I get so "put off" by many of the things in the old testament. And I thought you have to read the old one first to understand the new.

Well the God of the Bible and God of Israel, Yahwe is very strict with His justice and has holy hatred against sin and He does condemn all who break against Him. The Law of Moses, given to him by God is designed to be so strict that every human being on the face of the earth is guilty of sin against God. So therefore every human being is in danger of God's wrath.

Unless the wrath of God destined to you is removed by the atoning and forgiving propiating work of God's Son Jesus Christ.

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
    Joh. 3:36

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
    1.Cor. 15:3-4

Believe this, cry out to God for Him to save you, cry until until you know that Christ has saved you. This is the only message that can bring you in the real faith and loving relationship with the God of Israel.

Edit: Here's short video about the cross

If you would listen to Herb Larsen. It is kind of long, but he is really really good.

I come across a thread one day when I was trying to figure out why I feel like I feel. It was really strange, but anyways the post was finding relevance. I clicked on it and watched the videos.

When you have a few hrs to spare, please sit down and listen to him. I hope this helps.

First off, to understand the full implications of the New Testament yes, you do need to know the Old (herein referred to OT and NT). However, it sounds like you already know the OT. Start with Matthew, then if that's not boring go to Mark, Luke, and John.

I don't know how much you've looked into the historical evidence for the Bible, but it is overwhelming. Craig Blomberg is a good author to read in that regard (do avoid McDowell and Strobel, their area is speaking to Christians not in making logical arguments). Basically, there is more historical evidence for the NT alone than for Ceaser or even Henry VIII. I'm oversimplifying, of course, because I don't know where you're coming from in the logical realm.

Have you ever seen the Passion?

Science can't answer the bigger questions in life. Origin, purpose, meaning - on all these matters science has little to offer. Science can't suggest a moral code or an ethical structure for you to follow. It can't make you feel more fulfilled. As a basis from which to live your life, science is a poor choice. Your post here suggests that on some level you recognize this to be true.

There is really no such thing as "belief in Christianity." This phrasing suggests that you're thinking of being a Christian as primarily an ideological choice. But being Christian is about faith in a person - Jesus Christ. Being "born again," having a spiritual birth as well as physical one, is not solely a matter of adopting a new set of religious beliefs, but about entering into a personal relationship with God.

If God is who He says He is, then He is able to persuade you to faith in Him. Sincerely and fervently ask Him to do so. You see, God must change your mind and heart. You cannot. So long as you are willing to be persuaded and are genuinely looking for God you will find Him. In fact, even the desire to look for God is His doing. He places that desire in us and draws us to Himself by ways and means only He could manufacture.

If you want a good idea of who Christ is and what God's purpose in sending him was, the best place to look, in my opinion, is the Gospel of John.

May I also suggest that you cease to look at the reasons not to believe in Christ and, instead, begin to look at the reasons why you should believe in him? You don't have to deny the doubts and bases for disbelief that plague you, but you shouldn't allow them to crowd out any consideration of Christianity either.

    Peace to you.

Because of skelotor (And people like him) create an hostile environment for people who want something more than a "faith" that has you living for yourself, and other like minded people.. It's very basic peer pressure. If you want to be taken seriously or to be respected you have to dress and act like the "educated" kids do.. Otherwise if your caught thinking for yourself or in the slightest way that has not been approved by the "thinkers" faith, then you will be made to feel doubt, embarrassment and shame..

Despite what the "thinkers" would have you believe their worship of facts is just another form of faith. The same faith it takes to believe in God.. Although their facts are often times presented as truth, in truth they remain facts.. A Fact is a statement that can either be proved or disproved. That's it. Facts have little to do with actual truth.

So to believe in a scientific fact like Pluto being a planet or Holes in the Ozone, Mini Ice ages, Global warming due to Co2 emissions are akin to having faith in fads.. At the time if you didn't have a pair of acid washed Jeans or in the early 90's if you didn't have a pair of parachute pants girls wouldn't speak to you let alone be seen with you on a date.

The same is true in the religion of science and history.. If you can't stay current with what is going on, or if for some reason you still want to hold on to the Idea of a mini Ice Age by 2010, then your scoffed and laughed at like if you believed in God. That whole system of belief is designed for those who believe themselves to be important, have a way to one up each other.. For those who can not hold their own in that arena (Among their peers) look to destroy others who do not believe as they do, as a way of contributing to their faith.. It's kind of a form of self worship.. Unfortunately most of the "higher learning" facilities have adopted this doctrine as well.. So if you have been a student for more than 12 years this is probably why you will have a hard time excepting God..

There is hope though, in that if you truly want to know God, and can muster enough strength and faith to Pray to him, simply ask him to help you, and keep asking for this help till you get it.. Eventually you will get what your heart seeks.
