  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

the problem here is many are so 'hung up' on their churches ideology of theologically brainwashing people, that they refuse to acknowledge anything to the contrary of what is spewed from the pulpit, they run home and look to their bibles to study and confirm sundays sermon of condemnation, never bother thinking to themselves....hmmmm, shall i go on listening to this rhetoric, or should i begin study on this myself....and listen and learn from others who have gotten off their lazy duffs and spent time researching and learning.

it should be no surprise in this day and age, of having everything at our fingertips, the spoiled west that we are, that we are far to busy to be bothered or troubled with ......wait......here it is........QUESTIONING our elders, and seeing if what they have been 'teaching' us for hundreds, almost thousands of years is actually what the word of God says. unfortunately, out of either laziness, apathy, or ignorance, they choose to go on believing in the dogmatic misinterpretation of scripture, which, like i said, truth be known, they are only believing out of fear.....not out of love. for no one could love a god who tortures someone endlessly and mercilessly without end, for no purpose, and no reason. they worship for one reason.....fire insurance.

Excellent points.

i not only come on this post and others, to defend what i think the truth, i also actually do learn things, by reading and researching others pov. do you learn anything here, or are you just here to argue, cause you never seem to acknowledge anything anyone says. if you stop arguing with people, and chanting to yourself the same lines you use over and over, you might actually learn something.just a thought, but im sure i know whats coming........

The Genesis Flood, burning Sodom alive, Try again.
You aren't suggesting that the people who died in the flood died as a result of being burned alive for all eternity? Are you? You can't be. You must have misunderstood the post.

"No one could love a god who tortures someone endlessly and mercilessly without end."
Do you love a god who tortures someone mercilessly without end?

I've more than adequately demonstrated that the third option in the debate on Hell is that Hell serves a purpose for lost souls beyond merely torturing them or vaporizing them. I have to leave this discussion for a little bit. That means that the two most popular opinions can battle it out over rather a 16 year old Hindu girl who never heard the Gospel will burn forever or be vaporized by a "loving God". The position I presented states that God is perfectly capable, justified, and would be true to His word if He punished her for her sin, purified her from her spiritual uncleanness, and reconciled her to Himself through the cross.

This is much like the Rapture debate. Many believe in a Pre-Trib Rapture. Others are Post-Trib or Mid-Trib. There is room for a difference in one's interpretation within the biblical text.

Biblical interpretations of Hell are:

1.) Eternal Torments (God tortures the unsaved forever)
2.) Annihilationism (God vaporizes the unsaved forever)
3.) Universal Reconciliation (God purifies the unsaved that they might be reconciled to Him forever)

All affirm the existence of a Hell. Each affirms that the wicked are severely punished. However, only Universal Reconciliation defines Hell as having an eternal purpose beyond torturing or vaporizing the unsaved.

A great book on this subject can be found here:

http://tentmaker.org/books/hope_beyond_hell.pdf

The truth is that one can be a devout Bible believing Christian and not believe that God will torture or vaporize the unsaved in Hell for all eternity.

Before I go, I know, I'm addicted... lol
What will happen to a 16 year old Hindu girl who has never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ after she dies?
I contend that she will face the judgment without the blood of Jesus. After the judgment she will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone for both her punishment and purification. In the lake of fire and brimstone justice is served justly. Those who knew the Lord's will and did it not will suffer longer than those who didn't. After her soul has been properly punished and purified from her sin, God will eventually (after the consumation of the ages) reconcile her to Himself through the blood of Jesus Christ. Had Jesus not died on the cross... all men would be separted from God indefinitely.

Luke 12:46-48
46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

or maybe she already confessed Christ in her spirit and so was far more saved that those of us who confess Christ with only their mouth? perhaps Jesus is the first person she sees when she died in that car wreck and he takes her to a wonderful place. boy oh boy that was one horrible car wreck, she probably died instantly and painlessly.

I do believe that one must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in order to escape the judgment and just punishment of God. I simply don't believe that God will torture or vaporize souls for all eternity. I believe that He will reconcile all souls to Himself at the consumation of the ages.

everyone has the Logos, because we are all made in His image, though we may be distorted, we still have enough logos in our soul to see what is right and what is wrong, if she tried to live the best she can and never had a chance to know who Jesus Christ was in this life, then does that really mean that she will not be with the angels in heaven if she was an angel in this earth?

what would stop her? a mere "I don't know who i love but I do love him even though i don't know his name"?

not logical to me, Christ is the logos and reason and many many other things.

contemplate that God could have kept her blind from Jesus Christ because if she started to believe in Him she would go to some chruch, and then the next thing you know she is swallowed up by the congregation of the wicked and then her good soul and spirit get distorted by hypocrisy and a ton of false doctrine and so she ended up being worse than if she had just not known Jesus Christ. but she did know him in her heart indeed if she was an image of the saints and the grace of God put a good angel over her and she often listened to it more than many christians listen to their own good angels.

I would say that a one such as that would be welcomed by the angels and Christ when she dies.

No vaporizing. Just torment in the fire, FOREVER.

Revelation 20:10 (NASB)
10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
