I just want to say that sometimes I am surprised by what I read on some of these posts. First of all, the title of this thread is "Why I don't like homosexuals." That is a very general statement. While I believe that homosexuality is a sin, I also believe that, as Christians, we should treat homosexuals, AS WELL AS ANYONE COMMITTING ANY SIN, as Christ would and that is with LOVE. Carmody, it sounds like, from your post, you have had very limited experiences with individuals that are homosexuals. While I don't believe I am any where close to an expert on the subject, I spent a lot of time with individuals who were homosexuals as I attended an all-girl's school in college with a large lesbian population. And yes, I was friends with many of the girls. How can I throw stones at someone when I myself am not without sin?? I also have a friend whom I met in college while participating in a student service organization who happened to be a gay man. I met him about 4 years ago and I never knew he was gay until a year ago when I added him as a friend on myspace! I never saw him act inappropriately towards anyone, man or woman. My point is that homosexuals have sin in their lives, just as I do and just as you do. You will meet homosexual men who will be perverts as well as heterosexual men who will be perverts. (Women too so I'm not accused of stereotyping) I've met a few heterosexual men who have touched me inappropriately and said inappropriate things to me when I was just minding my own business and I try not to generalize against men in general because of a few bad experiences! I empathize with the bad experiences that you have had but don't allow that to make you "scared" of homosexuals. I know this is an old saying but I still love it: What would Jesus do?? P.S. - If you wish to respond, please try to do it respectfully as I have tried to do.
