  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why I Don't Believe In Atheism's Creation Myth

Dawkins stated himself that the bottom line is that no one knows the origin of cells. Are there differing viewpoints that i should be aware of, or is what he stated a reliable conclusion? And the complexity of cells? It was stated by several scientists that cells are complex, yes galaxies and galaxies complex. i will get the names of the scientists when i watch the video again....

Are those scientists incorrect to say that a cell is complex to that degree?

Allow me to ask again, please don't dodge this time.

What is your source of information about cells?

No you don't.

What caused the Big Bang? Magic?
An implosion of matter.

What caused the first inorganic molecule to become a living organism? Magic?
That would be abiogenesis.

How come massive objects don't fall on eachother by their gravity? Magic man?
Why do you think they would?

"...lest the systems of the fixed stars should, by their gravity, fall on each other, he [God] hath placed those systems at immense distances from one another." -- Isaac Newton, mathematician, 1687
Newton was also an alchemist... did you have a point?

it almost appears you are holding hoops up and stating that Susa is not jumping high enough. :o
If your answer to every question is "god did it" then yes you are not jumping nearly high enough.

You aren't even trying.

Too true, but it looks like brinny is genuinely interested in learning some actual facts about evolution, and is smart enough to tell the teachers from the trolls.

Let's not get distracted.

Yes it most definitely was. And the idiot lady who was in charge of sterilizing people using "The Origin of Life" as her reasoning, went on to found "Planned Parenthood." when she was outed by the doctors that she made sterilize them.

While this paragraph is rather disjointed, I assume you're referring to Margaret Sanger. Do you have any quotes by her to support your assertion?

Do you know who Richard Dawkins is?

I do. I've met him.
http://www.christianforums.com/attachments/28920d1106018794-bretdawkins.jpg

you do realize his writings have been put on the dusty shelf of antiquity? It's lost any credibility it once had. Nevertheless, give me a solid reason i should read it.

Actually if you read the 29 Evidences essays by Doug Theobald, you'll see that he develops a number of his evidences directly from Origin.

Now you know how alot of atheists feel... ;)

Let's stick to Creationism and Evolution here. Leave the apologetics for elsewhere.

How pleasant...

but that is your modus operandi, isn't it?

Gang up with innuendo and passive aggressive remarks, with a wink. How intelligent.

Enjoy your endeavors, I'll pray for you. But before I go, allow me to present an analogy. Follow this conversation if you will.

"So the ball sailed over the wall, and into the street."

"Cool, who hit it?"

"When it landed a little kid ran up and grabbed the ball like a pro outfielder."

"That's awesome... Who hit it?"

"And just then a unicorn came in and lifted the little boy onto his back."

"Man, that's so cool... But who hit the ball?"

"And the unicorn flew off into a cloud of money which then showered down on everybody in the stadium. Tons and tons of money."

"Oh man, I wish I had been there... But who hit the ball?"

"Shut up... Why do you keep asking me that? It has nothing to do with the story... <staff edit> ."

Bye bye friends.

BTW, do you have any idea how similiar "The Origin of Species" and "Mein Kampf" in the original language are? Do you think I just pulled that out of thin air? (-:

Almost everyone posting here speaks English as their native language and there are a number of German speakers here. Why don't you post the pertinant citations so that we may compare them? If you cannot, then it's clear you just pulled that out of thin air.

Dawkins seemed a bit confused when he stated emphatically that evolution is a fact.
Evolution IS a fact. We're still discovering how it works. Assembling and strengthening the Theory of Evolution.
Like gravity IS a fact. We're still discovering how it works. Assembling and strengthening the Theory of Gravity.

The paradox is that Gravity is so much more readily apparent to lay people, but we understand it far less than evolution. We have no solid explanation of how gravity works. Whereas we have oceans of data and explanation that show us how evolution works.

In addition, he has stated that intelligent design is possible.
He's a scientist. He has to admit lots and lots of things are possible. He has to admit there might be a statue of a camel at the center of Mars. Possible does not mean plausible, reasonable, or worth an iota of consideration. The ID movement is rooted in an emotional need to feel constructed by the divine. It isn't science. Dawkins said ID was possible, but he also said it could have been any number of things that aren't supernatural, like Aliens, or some prior intelligent species. There is no evidence for any of that, but it's possible.

Now you've spoilt it for them, you have explained it so they can really understand it, they have no excuse but to abandon this op as lost, but will they? of course not, they will continue as if your post had never been written, or they will say, yes but no but you don't understand, you've got it all wrong because they didn't mean that, or they will say it's complete rubbish, and then they will leave.

Brinny, you seem geniunely interested in the topic of evolution. Though the Origin of Species can be a great read, I would suggest you read "Finding Darwin's God" by Kenneth Miller. The biggest problem I encounter is that many people think that you cannot accept evolution and still believe in God. That is an outright lie! There are many sources available out there.

There are many questions that are raised when researching different aspects of biology. The following questions are raised because of new insights into genetic sequencing:
Why do chickens have genes to grow teeth if God made birds without teeth?
Why are crocodiles so closely related to birds?
Why are whales so closely related to hippos?
Why are chimpanzees more closely related to humans instead of gorillas?

What makes more sense, "God gave birds genes for teeth they never had" or "Birds used to have teeth in the past"?

Science continues to pull back the curtain on God, most reasonable scientists can't attribute anything to him other than possibly being the prime mover in the big bang, and why add one step of complexity?

God does not fit into a reasonable view of the universe. Being a scientist by day and religious at night and on Sunday is like a policeman that works all day to uphold the law and then goes home and beats his wife and snorts cocaine. Unfortunately no one can honestly have it both ways.

It's not a problem for you that TE teaches we are mutant copy-errors, made in God's image?

This is one of the most honest posts I've seen an evolutionist make.

I agree with you --- God and evolution don't mix.

The picture you have made up for yourself of your god doesn't mix with evolution, that's true.
But there are a lot of other pictures of god (even in christianity) which perfectly fit with evolution ....
