I, too, would like to see where in the Bible it says the world is only 6000 years old. Especially having queried young-Earth creationists on how old they think the world is and getting results differing by 100% or more.

They actually answered you? What did you bribe them with Pete?
All I got was mindless gibberish so far in the thread I started asking for evidence... (cough) JohnR7 (cough)

Arikay - We all know I am going to cite the genealogies
Smilin - Scientific proof will be routed to your thread, I promise! I did stop over and started reading through it, and hopefully I will be able to get around to posting later this week.

Please do!

See? We've discussed many of your questions in-depth..

While your at it.. please visit my thread: State your evidence for a 6,000 year old Earth and post there.

Fresh thoughts are always welcomed.

PLEASE donte cite all the 'begot' versus in Genesis 5...
however if you wish to start a thread on that topic.. have at it..
we'd love to debate the accuracy, implications, ages, etc
associated with that scripture.

I was mainly inquiring about the range of dates I've often seen on creationist sites (i.e. that claim the world is between 6000 and 10000 years old).

When I asked creationists to tell me how old they thought the Earth was, I received answers between 6000 and 12000 years old. I think the 12000 came from interpreting the "days" of Creation Week at 1000 year segments (based on the scripture that states "a day is like a thousand years to the Lord", etc).

Personally, I think the fact that even young-Earth creationists can't agree on the age of the Earth speaks volumes.

Come on now, just because two people disagree about (or all people in a large group are split over) what they believe in, doesn't invalidate the group. It simply means that half of the group are wrong and half are right, or they are all wrong and the answer lies somewhere in the middle, or far to the outside of their conceptual answers.
