Why Dr. Dino doesnt equate to Dr. Penniless

I think you have a very valid point Freodin. Far too often, people pick up a book and accept what it says as truth. The founder of Jehovah's witness stood trial (in NY) for writing their book...why? Because he translated the entire New Testament with less than a first-year Greek student's education on the subject. The shame is that all of us do not have perfect knowledge of greek, hebrew, arab, etc. so that we could all effectively evaluate the texts for ourselves; without running into the problem you have noted.

Seems to me that if you differ with him on beliefs, and 9 out of 10 posters in this forum think that to call Hovind a village idiot is to give him too much credit, you should organize a debate. I know what you could do.

Let me note before saying this, that I am not a Hovind-Hater or a Hovind-Lover, I simply believe that if information is presented that differs from what you previously believed, don't hold onto your beliefs without doing research first.

I think something that Hovind would go for, that many would attend and enjoy, would be a web debate. Either all Q & A or a debate with a leading evolutionist (followed by a Q & A session). Anyone could log on, post questions (after or during the debate, pending on the format). These chat-type of forums are conducted all the time.

Yes, but not with Kent Hovind. He deliberatly evades any possibilities of a written discussion. He knows exactly that his success lies in his charisma, and not the validity of his arguments.

It has been tried before, but no-one has got Hovind to accept.

You could not even do it with a perfect knowledge of the language. You would need the perfect knowlegde of the time, place, circumstance, intend of the author etc. also. And you would need the prefect non-knowledge of all the things humanity has learned after the books in question were written. Hindsight may be perfect, but sometimes it can keep you from seeing the forest for too much trees.

I own his videos, and have heard him say this. I don't think that hiring a human type-writer (read: secretary) at $7.00/hr. to type 55wpm with 0 errors for a couple of hours is too much to ask, what about you? What if we paid the $14.00?

Well, ask him. Invite him here. I´m sure the mods would be delighted to keep the discussion civil.

Ask Erwin for a permission, ask Mr. Hovind if he would spend a few hours here with us, well, perhaps he would listen to a friendly invitation from a fellow Christian.

I will definitely look into it.  I am busy with work, free-lance work and ministry involvement (and when not doing that, my wife and my two boys like to see me also); so I don't know how soon I can get to it to try and iron out the details, but I will not blow this off.

You might want to read up a bit more on his challenge and refusal to do a written debate before you waste your time.

Okay, Smilin, could you explain to me where (you believe) I came from?

I'm pretty positive you developed from a single egg cell fertilized by a male sperm cell

I wouldn't equate it with ignorance. He believes the Bible is literal, and as such an old-earth (billions of years) creationist is about as viable is a young-earth (< 10,000 years) evolutionist.

First greeting to the forum NM,

You're covering territory most of us have been over hundreds of times,
so be forgiving if anyone seems impatient.

Now,

1. For those who take the Bible as literal, I'll post a months wages to demonstrate the writings of Mark. I have an eastern diamond back rattlesnake at the house for them to handle, and a jar of cyanide poison to drink. Literally, according to scripture, they won't harm you.

2. As far as YEC aging of the Earth goes... I invite you to poste in my thread: State your evidence for a 6,000 year old Earth. (noone's posted ANY evidence yet... just useless ramblings) We'll proceed from there.

I think he (well probably not him, but someone with more of a theological background) could write a paper showing that evolution is not supported biblically.

NM,

Respectfully,
I could also write you a paper demonstrating the Bible doesn't support Chemistry, Algeabra, Calculus, Physics, Dynamics, Statics, Magnetism...etc...etc..

My point???

The Bible isn't a scientific text...
to make it into such is a distortion of what it truly is...

NM,
The members of this forum would LOVE Hovind to join and debate...
Christians and non-Christians alike...

Could you really or are you saying this for effect?

Yes,
I could write a paper showing the Bible doesn't support any scientific field. How? Quite simple. It's not a scientific text.

Why didn't the Bible mention the DNA structure? Why did we have to discover it.

Why didn't the Bible cover Relativity, Gravity, Time, and Space? Why are we forced to search for answers still?

Why didn't the Bible speek of the America's, Australia, Greenland, Iceland, Antarctica... etc, etc... Why were explorers forced to find them?

Why didn't the Bible tell us of the structure of the univers...i.e. other Galaxies?

To show the Bible doesn't support any scientific field is a very simple task.

Respectfully,
Smilin
