Actually, the OP is not specifically targeted at Protestants, although that is very obviously an intended target. The title of this thread is "Why does Everyone Hate Mary". Taken at face value that would include all of humanity, including Catholics. So, Catholics why is that you hate Mary?

Yes, that point was made earlier, but we seem simply to have overrun it.

Perhaps that's because it is so obviously ridiculous, and we therefore went on to something only a little less so--that to fail to deluge her with man's fabricated terms of endearment is tantamount to "hating" her.

Perhaps it should also be asked "Why do Catholics hate the Bible so much?"

As we see here on CF, not only is there the constant 'putting down' of the Bible, but it's also frequently described as "just a book" or by similar terms. In addition, for any of us to call Scripture the "Word of God" brings an immediate denial of the appropriateness and accuracy of such a term.

Isn't that basically what we've been told here constitutes the evidence that non-Catholics "hate" Mary?

HATE.....

The specific, particular accusation/condemnation of this thread is the All (Protestants - I think that IS the implication) HATE Mary. That means that I do....

What is curious to me is that the Catholics here at not condemning this statement, rebuking the poster, protesting this condemnation. Instead, while employing the typical Catholic diversions and evasions, are at times even trying to support it. Now, we all know.... yes, we ALL know..... if the thread were: "All Catholics HATE Mary" why the Catholics would be screaming "you antis!" Reports would fly, infractions would be handed out like Halloween candy, mod posts would appear about not flaming, being respectful, and the thread would be closed (and probably trashed) ASAP. Oh, well.... life at CF. This is just one aspect of the "peace" finally reached here, the institutionalization of the double standard.

I love the Blessed Virgin Mary, I believe as does the OP that she is my mother and I know at the hour of my death I won't have to explain to my Lord and Savior that his mom was a 'bit player', a mere earthly vessel and a dead sinner with no more favor in the eyes of God than me.

That won't be happening.

Nope. It was written in 1577 (I wasn't born yet). I simply copy/pasted the verbatim, historic, formal, official definition. And I gave the reference. I've been doing this for some 10 years here at CF (and elsewhere). Of course, Catholic are very persistent in evading it.

Back to the issue...

You can't fool me. Bob the builder wasn't around in 1577.

I don't hate the bible. I hate what sola scripturists have done to it.

So then, you're saying that everyone does NOT, in fact, hate Mary. That's good.

So now we have several members of the unreformed churches joining those here who belong to reformed ones in saying that they do not hate, but instead honor, Mary. Is there much else to discuss now that the premise of the OP has been shown to be nonsense?

You can't fool me. Bob the builder wasn't around in 1577.

Here is the official, historic, verbatim definition: "The Scriptures are and should remain the sole rule in the norming of all doctrine among us" (Lutheran Formula of Concord, Solid Declaration, 9).

You are wrong that I wrote it - that is just silly, absurd. I wasn't even born in 1577 (which should be obvious). And you are wrong that Bob the Builder is a part of the definition.

I told you who wrote it... repeatedly. I gave you the date of its writing.... repeatedly.

All this you evade, avoid, dodge - as you do the entire matter, as you and most other Catholics here at CF have for at least 10 years, perhaps because you need to. This latest attempt to justify you being ignorant of it - that I wrote it - is just absurd (and perhaps shows the lengths you will go to evade it)? And that you will do anything to evade the sole topic of this thread: that all HATE Mary, your unwillingness to rebuke the opening poster.

Sorry, but according to your own definition of what shows hate, that answer doesn't work.

Sure it does....do you think it is shocking to the rest of us you don't think so?

No, it doesn't. Take another look at the premise of the OP and the follow-up comments from the posters who agreed with it.

I must admit that you exhibit some extraordinary forms of hatred if, indeed, the OP was intended to include you. It is also evident that not a single poster on this thread has come remotely close to fitting the definition of hatred, thus exempting both Catholics and Protestants from the general indictment of the OP. Perhaps we could attach it to various non-Christian religions, of which some do, indeed, hate everything concerning the Christian faith.

Turning Mary into the baby momma of Jesus is pretty hateful and I do see protestants describe her that way on a frequent basis.

What is wrong with you? Catholics never say that.

The problem with protestants is that many of them can't figure out that the Word of God is not the same as their interpretation of the Word of God.

Now that can go both ways. ;)

??? Mary isn't the mother of baby Jesus?

I can easily appreciate your point. Our friend may unintentionally be saying that some devotees congratulate themselves for relating to Mary as though she were a demi-god, even though any mention of the term routinely brings a shocked denial.

It seems your question documents and proves that you HATE Mary. Personally, I find that absurd. And I find the whole accusation of this thread to be hateful, offensive, divisive and - absurd. One that Catholics would never stand if the accusation was from non-RCC'er to Catholics. But we seem to be witnessing the double-standard. But your question shows the absurdity of the Catholics here..... it would mean that St. Luke HATES Mary since he states that Mary is the mother of Jesus.
