We receive grace and apostleship for obedience of faith. Obedience which is through the faith of Christ Jesus into all and upon all that believe. This faith establishes the law. It is the Law derived of faith. We do because of who we now are in Christ, not because we have to, but because we want to. If the old man is crucified with Him that the Body of sin be destroyed. How can we who are dead to sin live any longer therein. We are risen with Christ and have become servants of righteousness. Therefore, The word is nigh unto us. In our hearts and mouths that we do it. That is the faith in which we preach. Which is the New Covenant

Rom 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Rom 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ INTO all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Rom 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Yes, as Paul wrote to the Ephesian Christians in that verse I use in my signature:

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” (Eph 2:8 NKJV)

Why do we receive grace? Because we don't deserve salvation, or anything good from God. Somebody (I don't know who it was) said that GRACE is God's Riches at Christ's Expense.

Amen! Grace is God's unmerited favor in which He shows us mercy, kindness, and patience instead of the judgment that we deserve for sinning against Him. God's grace cannot be earned by our actions/performance/works. Grace is based on the character of God and not on our sincerity, performance, or ability to keep the law. Otherwise, grace would not be grace.

Romans 11:6, "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace."

Galatians 2:21, "I do not frustrate the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ is dead in vain."

2 Timothy 1:9, "who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity."

We really need grace, especially when we reach bottom in the pigsty of life.
We absolutely do need grace and God's grace operates sovereignly in the lives of believers.

1 Corinthians 15:10 - But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

2 Corinthians 1:12 - For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.

2 Corinthians 12:9 - And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

Yes, from the beginning the church has believed and taught that righteousness is given to man at justification as he's made a new creation. It's the seed of God's own life implanted in us now that we've entered His family by faith. Theologians have equated grace, the Holy Spirit, and love as being intrinsically related and all oriented towards enabling man to now live in authentic obedience as a child of God should, not by virtue of being under the law but under grace.

In Ephesians 2:8 the word "for" is Key in that text and the surrounding passage. Notice the context. Turn to chapter 2 in Ephesians. It says, "Even when we were dead in our sins have He quicken us together with Christ." This is the saving that 2:8 speaks. This is our salvation. We are saved, setting together in heavenly places in Christ. For this is the grace, the Gift from God. For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works WHICH God had preordained THAT we should walk in that which is of God. Being quickened together with Christ sitting together in heavenly places in Christ we are Therefore, One Body and Spirit. And there is One hope of this calling of us. In that there is One God and Father of all who is above all and in us all chapter 4 states. For it is He that works in us both to will and do His good pleasure. Giving of Himself, giving gifts unto men. And this hopeful calling is For the perfecting of us, the saints. Unto the measure and stature and the fullness of Christ.
Henceforth not tossed to fro by every wind of doctrine and sleight of man. Being Taught by HIM and thereby Putting off the behavior of the old man which is corrupt due to deceitful lust and putting on the new which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. The good works that God had preordained that we should walk in. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Be not ye therefore partakers with them chapter 5 says.

Yes, God must quicken us-or else we'd never turn to Him. And He must provide the works-or else we'd have none that are worth anything. And yet... He still allows us the freedom to refuse to do both.
Thank you for your contributions to this. As a whole most Christians do not teach the Gospel as it is actually revealed. Us in Him He in us that the world might believe. I really appreciate His Word.

All these years of reading Ephesians and this morning the impact of the fact that I was in Christ while I was yet dead in my sin and not really seeking Him finally set in this morning. If it weren't for that I would not be here, nor would I have started this journey.

By grace I am saved, quickened, raised together with Christ in His resurrection from the dead and created in Christ Jesus unto good works that God had preordained that I should walk in. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us the ungodly. That the righteousness of God be revealed in us that walk after His Spirit and not after the flesh.

Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are save)
Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Yes, I find Ephesians to be a very encouraging letter.

Why do we receive Grace

Its given by God when He has decided to save a person, one of His Elect. Its always first given to them in Christ their Mediator and Surety before the world began 2 Tim 1:9

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

If we are sinning willfully, after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins only God judgment, and his fiery indignation. The terrible thing to fall in the hands of God.

Ask God that at the Judgment
That is just a put-off answer. There is a very spiritual logical answer to my question, but it will not agree with you doctrine. God does not contradict Himself (the way He is), but that is the only solution you have.

My question is to those who believe it is totally and only up to God "choice", who He saves and who He does not save. You are talking about man making a choice which would explain why some are lost.

Thats talking about the sin of apostacy, the hebrews were coming under persecution and some of them would forsake their profession, once they did that and returned to judaism, they were finished, they forsook the only True sacrifice for sin, in Christ.

No and you can not sustain that through the text. It is speaking of sin in general

. Those for whom Christ died are sanctified and perfected forever Heb 10:10,14
That is the truth in which we received. After receiving this truth if we are sinning willfully, presumptuously, (Num. 15:30) there remains no more sacrifice for sin. Only Judgment and fiery indignation. He that set aside Moses Law died under two or three witnesses. How much sorer punishment do you think one is worthy that has done despite unto the Spirit of Grace. It will be a terrible thing to fall into the hands of God. For that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. So let's exhort one another daily as we see the Day approaching. How shall we who are dead to sin live any longer therein? For the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that are of faith into the saving soul. So, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Remember We Have been sanctified. For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer sanctify to the purifying of the flesh. How more shall the blood of Christ. Who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot. Purge (sanctify fully) your conscience (who we are. the man of sin) from dead works (sin, acts that cause death) to serve the Living God. For it was impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away our sin. Because if the worshippers were purged they would have been perfected, the conscience, who we are would have been purged and there would not have been a remembrance of sin every year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away our sin. But you know He was manifested to take away our sin and in Him is no sin. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. For by one offering He have perfected forever us whom are sanctified. Whereof this perfection the Holy Ghost has witnessed to us before when He saith, I will put my commandments in your hearts and in your minds will I write them. And your sins and iniquities will no longer be brought to my remembrance. Now where remission of these is there is no offering for sin. Little children let no man deceive you. He that does righteousness ids righteous EVEN AS He is righteous. He that sins is of the devil. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested. To destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: He is begotten by the word of truth. A new creature with the engrafted word.. God's Law in their hearts and minds. His word in our hearts and mouths that we do it. That is the faith that we preach. Because that is who we are in Christ. He is the first among many brethren, In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. For We cannot sin, because we are born of God. Let us be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live. Partaking of His Holiness yielding the peaceable fruit of righteousness. For He has made a straight path for our feet to be healed.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you

and sin isnt imputed to them
If we are still sinning it is. But if we assent unto our sin He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.
