Why do people have a problem with prosperity teachings?

It is a religious spirit of control. There is a spirit in the world wants to control all things. It is not riches or prosperity these ones want. They want to control all things.... including you. If this means condemning you because you avail yourself of the blessings of God... so be it. This spirit prevails among all heresy hunters. They seek to condemn and control you. They have no concern for your soul or the souls they seek to destroy by robbing them of the blessings of God. They would rather see you impoverished, sick and dying, or even dead. And they do not even see it. All the while they will not lift finger to do the things they seek to impose upon you. They want you to live in a cave wearing rags eating wild onions and drinking branch water. NONE of them take this level of poverty upon themselves. That makes them hypocrites and pharisees.

Luke 11:46
And he said, Woe unto you also, [ye] lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

THIS IS YOU HERESY HUNTER!

REPENT!

Leave the people of God alone to receive the blessings of the Lord! Stop robbing them of life, prosperity, health, and righteousness!

Thank you. For the first time in a long while, I have learned something here.

How about the love rule? How about the common decency rule that even the world observes?
How about just leave us alone because we ask you to? Go slay some Jehovah Witnesses or Mormons with your wisdom.

1 Samuel 27:1 says: “But David thought to himself, “One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul."
Now the question is: Did what David fear come to pass? No!

The above concludes that there is a difference between the fear due to rebellion and the fear due to the natural human weakness. I wish the word of faith preachers recognise this difference.

Hence it is good to preach and exhort to avoid the fear due to natural weakness as the Word of Faith preachers usually do. But since they confuse between the two types of fears they eventually make another wrong conclusion that fear and negative confession was the cause of Job’s sufferings!

In the case of Job, he says that what he feared has come to pass. But Job never says that fear was the cause of his suffering. Instead Job himself says that he is being transformed into gold through the preparatory work of sufferings as per Job 23: 10.

To support Job’s truth the epistle to Hebrews 5: 8 also says: "Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;"
Moreover Romans 5:3 also says: "And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;"

Thus the above verses prove that suffering prepares one to be sanctified by His word.

It takes too much energy to hate someone. You are not that important.
You do no belong here. Crawl down off your imaginary cross and just leave.

Look! Here come some Jesus only folks down the street!
Have fun!

One does not HAVE to suffer. They can just believe God to start with and avoid it all. If you insist on rebelling and resisiting the sanctifying work of the word... then you reap what you sow. But you could just trust and believe to start with and sidestep all that suffering.

hmm i must know you from somewhere .

part of my beliefs developed from something that later became the word of faith movement, if that matters . so that is debatable whether i am welcome here or not .

but according to forum rules i am welcome here . though you do not wish to fellowship with me . there are other reasonable people with this congregation's pin that have been more than hospitable .

God bless you .

the things the WOF-ers are saying are really good...but it's hard to find their stuff on this topic because there are so many non-wof-ers debating.

i thought the rules were that non-wof-ers could visit our sites to ask honest questions, but they weren't allowed to debate or proselytize?

i am really interested in this topic but would really only like to hear from WOF-ers.
i greatly enjoy the opinions and fellowship of fellow WOF-ers.
it is a wonderful chance to grow and learn and sharpen when you are in like-minded company.

if i wanted to hear from non-wof-ers, i would go to their sites.

what can be done to make a WOF site safe for WOF-ers?

If someone reports this thread to a mod it will be cleaned up.

I hardly bother reading it now for the same reasons you stated. It's seems to be going nowhere now.

Then you won't really find true answers to the question in the OP. All they could do would be to project their suppositions onto our reasons for disagreeeing with WoF. When I see the reasons given by WoF people here, I don't see my position accurately represented at all. So, for an honest answer, the question really should be pursued outside this particular neighborhood.

I have to agree with you on that. Besides, it may vary from person to person. I think most of the time WoF teachings on prosperity have been misrepresented, misquoted, or taken out of context. But every one is an individual, and when we talk to people it should be as such.

I think the doctrines of WoF that are found in the bible and have nothing to imply contradiction will find more unity of teaching . prosperity is a tougher teaching, i would suggest to read the proverbs if you're interested in that .

hearing from non-wof people on this topic sounds good in theory but.....

look at this topic....
at the beginning the discussion was excellent and as soon as non-wof people came in.....the quality of discussion went downhill.

it seems that almost every non-wof person or people posing as wof and posting non-wof comments on this topic have not "helped" clarify anything.

most non-wof comments presented here seem to be to proselytize or debate or even attack our beliefs.

which is a clear violation of the rules.

it's good to be loving and accepting of others....but the integrity and safety of our WOF site should be protected.....we need a safe place to have our own open WOF discussions.....discussions between WOF-ers.

if any of us really want to discuss things with non-WOF-ers, is there not another/better option than having them compromise our site?

isn't there a debate forum somewhere on CF?

i am here because i love WOF teaching and want to fellowship with WOF-ers.
i have "abundant" interaction with non-wof-ers EVERY day.
i hear non-wof ideas and opinions ALL day.

this WOF site is an awesome opportunity to get a "breath of fresh air" and fellowship with WOF-ers.

i would like to see that protected.....and i think that is why the rules are so clear.

another thing.....why do non-wof-ers want to keep posting on our site?
they don't seem to agree with our beliefs.....and some of them blatantly disrespect our beliefs (and us).

has any WOF-er ever seen a non-wof-er visit our sites and "convert"?

The above concludes that there is a difference between the fear due to rebellion and the fear due to the natural human weakness. I wish the word of faith preachers recognise this difference.

I think the problem with this thread is that it is stated as a negative from the get-go.

"Why do people have a problem with prosperity teachings?"

this will naturally attract anyone who has problems with "prosperity" teachings.

i'll bow out of this thread though . i've tried my best to express my answer in a respectful fashion . if i failed in that, apologies .
