hmm i must know you from somewhere .

part of my beliefs developed from something that later became the word of faith movement, if that matters . so that is debatable whether i am welcome here or not .

but according to forum rules i am welcome here . though you do not wish to fellowship with me . there are other reasonable people with this congregation's pin that have been more than hospitable .

God bless you .
You are debating right now.
You will never convince anyone here they are wrong. Please, just leave us alone. You are just here to insult us, rail against the things we beileve, and inflate your ego with imaginary victories. You do not care for our souls or our well being... you are here just for you.

I do not want to be mean... but please... just go.

all i can remember right now is "seeing the light"......
i remember how my anti-prosperity thinking was shattered by the truth of what WOF-ers were saying......i remember being amazed at how "wrong" i had been....and so sorry that i had ever opposed someone of a differing scriptural perspective.......

now i see denominational differences as "differing perspectives".......each denomination has their perspective on scripture.....each is sincere.....yet they disagree......trying to "convert" each other only escalates the situation to debates or attacks.....

i am now 100% WOF...... i now understand the Old Testament Covenant prosperity message and know that by our New and Better Covenant we have even better Promises on everything, including prosperity, than the OT Jews did.....this "TRUTH" is what set me free from the poverty/suffering/humility/contentment perspective......

learning from the original Hebrew what the OT Jews had in their covenant....... and KNOWING that our NEW COVENANT is better....... and hearing humongous amounts of WOF teaching......and suspending judgement while asking JESUS if these WOF teachers were telling the TRUTH or error....... eventually shattered my bondage to the "poverty/sickness/suffering" message.

i always was and still am a lover of the TRUTH.....it was my lack of understanding about the Covenants in my pre-WOF anti-prosperity days that tripped me up......and believing what i see hear feel experience and using that to interpret scripture.... rather than believing ONLY the WORD of GOD and letting IT interpret ITSELF.

The bible says both riches and poverty come from God, so believers should understand that God can give people money but he can also take it away when he chooses to.

Please post the scripture to support your statement that God sends His children poverty.

1 Samuel 27:1 says: “But David thought to himself, “One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul."
Now the question is: Did what David fear come to pass? No!

The above concludes that there is a difference between the fear due to rebellion and the fear due to the natural human weakness. I wish the word of faith preachers recognise this difference.

Hence it is good to preach and exhort to avoid the fear due to natural weakness as the Word of Faith preachers usually do. But since they confuse between the two types of fears they eventually make another wrong conclusion that fear and negative confession was the cause of Job’s sufferings!

In the case of Job, he says that what he feared has come to pass. But Job never says that fear was the cause of his suffering. Instead Job himself says that he is being transformed into gold through the preparatory work of sufferings as per Job 23: 10.

To support Job’s truth the epistle to Hebrews 5: 8 also says: "Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;"
Moreover Romans 5:3 also says: "And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;"

The bible says both riches and poverty come from God, so believers should understand that God can give people money but he can also take it away when he chooses to.

But that begs the question of "WHY?" Why would God take riches away? There is evidence after evidence that it is more than a simple divine whim. A read through Proverbs will fill several pages of reasons why poverty comes on a person through their own actions. Too many times the impression is left that God dumps His kids in the proverbial toilet just for kicks or to "Teach us" something. Lousy Father if that's the case. Here kid, have some cancer because I want you to learn how to be patient! Heh. Sorry, God is Love and love would NOT make my own children sick. How much more does God love us? Besides that, Jesus was the image of God in action on the earth. I don't see Jesus making people sick or robbing them of their money to teach them something. Yet we have no problem saying God does that sort of thing.

Personal testimony - I went to work at a new job last October and make 2-3 times as much as before, and sometimes 4 times as much. Bless the Lord! As with most things, there's a long story behind it, one of which we see DOING the Word of God produces results. If we would simply obey Him we would spend our days in prosperity and our years in pleasure.

I'm not saying there is never hardship. Life is full of that! But we are not alone in this life. He's not left us as orphans. And He does take very good care of us. Cast your care on the Lord, for He cares for you.

Getting back to my new job, on most days it's easier than my last job!

hi Cindy,
this is so EXCELLENT.
praise GOD !!!!!!

would love to hear some of the specific "doings" you did if you are able to share.
even point form or highlights would be great.
whatever you are able to share.
GOD BLESS you !!
I came on to share an hour's worth and find I have only a few minutes before I have to leave to take my daughter for a dental appointment.

The first thing I'd share about work is how I view my job. I do not look at my job as my source of income, but my place of assignment where God has sent me. The Lord is my source. This relieves me of trying to earn enough. I knew when I took the job that it didn't pay enough. So what! The Lord meets all my needs. I seek first the kingdom of God and ALL these things I have need of are supplied. And so I went to work with joy as unto the Lord and as if I were earning 5 times more than I was. That's the way I worked - with all my heart, whether I was being watched by a superior or not.

More to come! :D ^_^

Yes, bite-size works for me, both in reading and writing. :)

I always went to work equipped with the Word for those moments that can be snatched here and there to meditate on the Word. I typed out, or wrote out, scriptures that ministered to me at the time - Rhema Words. And then I pulled them out of my pocket and read them! I'll share some of them later as the Lord wills and I'm able b/c they were direct words about things at work, whether, finances or relationships there.

So another important factor is the Word. Meditate on the Word. Write it down and keep it before your eyes, whatever it takes to get it into your heart.

Then I spoke it often. It's a part of me, and it's what came out easily. :)

Why do people have a problem with prosperity teachings?

Because it triggers a basic instinct to protect from a threat.

What is the threat.

A person that does not understand the prosperity message, and many that do will automatically resist because they see themselves as not measuring up to the message, therefore they deny the message, ridicule the message, call the message heresy, error, vain, selfish, etc.

All this is done so that their own image of them not measuring up is hidden and protected so that they give the appearance of being "prosperous".

I like the way you put my points into a nutshell. That's very good!

I spoke it often and thought often on it to encourage myself. I need the Word! It builds me up! I love the Word. I love the Lord. Jesus IS the Living Word. So if anyone says they love the Lord, you know it is true if they love the Word.

Yes, I speak it often b/c I treasure the Word. The Word has power in it.

Yes, to put it in my heart too. :D

I'll be back to tell how I "get it". ^_^

Thank you, woff! Psalm 119 is devoted to love for the Word. Since we are not under law (statutes, ordinances, precepts in quite the same way) I substitute the word "Word" for those words when I read Psalm 119. It is a very long psalm and I generally read it very slowly over the course of a few days. You may want to visit that psalm as you desire a greater love for His Word. I desire a greater love for His Word. I desire to deeply honor it(Him). We read it differently when we do. We hold it in higher esteem, as it right for One so great.
