  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yes they are. It's happened a lot here. "We need our cheap labor illegal alien workforce."
Farmers and meat packers are saying that. It's true that Democrats are saying that farmers and meatpackers are saying that.

Are they? I'm complaining about the obvious absurdities, cruelties and illegalities of the militarized response to the immigrant situation.
And yet you are rhe one that continually posts things about how terrible it is that we have deported this illegal or that illegal. A mother
, a father, an uncle, a worker, a you name it... etc etc.

Yes you complain about the majority of illegals being deported.

Recognizing that our country has relied on illegal labor since the Reagan administration is not complaining. Fix our immigration system to meet our labor demands.
You've heard Clinton's and Obama's speeches on illegal aliens before, right? Also if you look up how many legal immigrants we have from central and south america, you'll see there's plenty of them. But unfortunately they're not as easy to exploit.

Sure, they want their near slave illegal workforce to exploit. Heaven forbid they get stuck with legal immigrants from the same countries.

People are saying that Norwegians and South Afrikaners are chomping on the bit for the opportunity to pick our beans and strawberries. Voluntarily!

Weird that my history books left out the part where the enslaved folk working the plantations fought their way into this country for the privilege of working the fields.

When it is absurd and/or cruel and/or illegal (or entirely mistaken as with the many citizens who have been arrested), yes.

"Yes you complain about the majority of illegals being deported."

It's been thousands. I have not complained about thousands.

Sure, I've heard *all* the president's speeches going back to Reagan. None, including the current one, has fixed our immigration system to meet the labor demands on of our economy.

The border is now, according to Trump, secure. He has a majority in Congress and calls from within the GOP to address the immigration system. He does nothing.

Yes they are. It's happened a lot here. "We need our cheap labor illegal alien workforce. Who will do all the dirty work and pick our strawberries for us?". It's been likened to 19th century plantation owners complaining about losing their slave force.
No, basically that is nothing but a bald faced lie. Disgusting slander, in fact. Democrats want immigrant workers. They don't want illegal immigrant workers because illegal immigrants are not covered by US wage and labor law and can be, are, exploited by their employers,

I put it to you that it is why Republicans are so eager to brand asylum seekers and refugees as "illegal aliens" because they cannot be exploited in that way. That is why illegal aliens working for large corporate employers are largely ignored by ICE, except for a few show raids.

Meaning what? What are the labor demands? Sweatshop employees?
The border is now, according to Trump, secure. He has a majority in Congress and calls from within the GOP to address the immigration system. He does nothing.
What's he supposed to do?

Let me know if you get to the point of understanding the issue I am trying to highlight. I'll leave you to beat up your straw men on your own.
Eh?

I don't have any difficulty figuring out what virtually everyone else is saying.

How about the millions of Central and South American legal immigrants? That's who I was talking about.
Weird that my history books left out the part where the enslaved folk working the plantations fought their way into this country for the privilege of working the fields.
Illegals don't fight their way in. That's what legal immigrants do. They put in a lot of effort. Illegals just pour in. Or at least they used to.

How about them?
Illegals don't fight their way in.
Quite a few most certainly do. I admire their bravery and persistence.
That's what legal immigrants do. They put in a lot of effort.
Fill out a form, pay some fees or, the luckier ones, get an employer or recruiting agency to do it for you.
Illegals just pour in. Or at least they used to.
Sounds like they're just floating along with the tide, quite leisurely.

The immigration issue will continue to rankle both sides unless/until we get a functional Congress to tackle immigration reform.
That is all.
How about just simply having a secure border. Other countries getting their act together would help a lot too. Instead of it always having to be up to America to fix the problem.

Besides Trump is such an awful monster why would anyone want to migrate here anyways?

Immigration reform is a separate, though related matter.
Other countries getting their act together would help a lot too. Instead of it always having to be up to America to fix the problem.
Fixing immigration in America would be America’s problem to deal with.

Anger as Chicago business owner dies in ICE custody after 30 years in US

Gantchev first moved to Chicago 30 years ago on a student visa. Since then, he received a work permit and owned a trucking company since 2008 and married his wife in 2017. The two were in the process of applying for a green card through their marriage. He was arrested on Sept. 23 during an interview for his green card application at the USCIS Chicago office.

Three months after his arrest, on Dec. 16, his wife was informed of his death, the day was also the couple's eight-year wedding anniversary.

In a published statement by ICE, the agency called Gantchev a "criminal," and a spokesperson for the DHS called all allegations of poor treatment in ICE detention facilities "false."
