WHY DO PEOPLE GIVE TO MINISTRIES?

1 John 3:16: "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren".

Does laying your life down for the brethren go against the sermon on the Mount?

Have you read the Sermon lately?

1) Preacher 1: "You give tithes because God has already granted you financial returns for the sake of Christ's blood which is THE seed money".

2) Preacher 2: "If you give tithes which is the seed money, God will grant you financial returns".

Now, which statement is truth?

Are you confusing between yielding fruits in order to be blessed AND yielding fruits because one is blessed for the sake of Christ's death?

I give tithes because I want to support the ministry to help spread the gospel.

Do you mean to say if you don't pay tithes, Father will cut you off?

Do hearers give seed money for fear their faith might not be genuine though their faith is indeed genuine as it is based on His self-sacrifice & not on their works, in order to grant them riches?

Does giving seed money to prove one's faith simply betray their ignorance of the definition of true faith?

Are hearers exploited financially due to their above ignorance?

I personally give because I think that it is the responsibility of every Christian to uplift and support one another no matter what faith community that you choose to be apart of. There is no greater payback to God or the church then to hear a testimony about how someone's life was impacted because of the various ministries or gifts of kindness that people in the church have made. Furthermore the world could honestly care less about what happens to the average person in their day to day life. If the people of God who are supposed to be your family can't have your back then who on Earth will? Finally, while I do understand the stigma against televangelists and megachurch pastors most people who answer the call to ministry will never be paid in the millions. They give up everything to follow the call that God has placed on their lives and it should be the responsibility of the church to help and support them.

Not necessarily, but we must bear some fruit otherwise we will be cut off. Supporting the ministry is just one of many ways to bear fruit.

Do you mean to say you protect yourself from being cut off by the Father by your works of "giving fruits" & not because of your faith in Christ who gave the perfect fruits by His death?

So you don't need faith in Christ's self-sacrifice to protect you from being cut off?

Christ’s sacrifice does not protect us from turning away. His sacrifice is for forgiveness of sin. God will not force anyone to abide in Him otherwise John 15 would not have been written.

My church is only about 80-100 people so we're pretty much just a normal sized church and not a megachurch that tells people that if they tithe to the organization then God will bless them with all kinds of money. I really like how Dave Ramsey explains what tithing is all about. Tithing is just simply giving back to God what he has already given to us. Tithing to me is a covenant made between You, God, and the Church. God of course supplies all of our needs but he uses the church and the congregants to do it. Essentially what I'm saying is that the church takes care of our spiritual needs and even at times our physical needs and in response we give back to the church. To really just sum it up what I'm basically saying is that if you take care of the church then they will help to take care of you.

Does it teach you not accuse others & check your own eye first?

Is the issue about your turning away from Him OR the Father cutting you off? Why are you confusing?

Don't you trust in Christ to keep you from being cut off by the Father? Do you trust in your works of yielding fruits to keep you from being cut off by the Father?

So if you are blessed only for the sake of Christ's perfect works, aren't you giving seed money because you are "already blessed" and not "to be" blessed?
