I was just throwing something out there with the whole jellyfish deal, but I guess it was taken too seriously by some. It was meant to be a joke but some posters are telling me that I am in some way related to a jellyfish. And here I was just kidding around.

Excuse me then ... make that a talking serpent (as if that was any different). What if I said that Evolution was God's Truth? It is what His Creation shows us, afterall...

The stories in Genesis are just that.. stories! They were written for Bronze Age goat-herders to explain certain theological principles... like what Sin is and the consequence of Sin and what God expects of Man. They are based on stories the Hebrews head from other civilizations, such as the flood story originally from the Sumerians and passed on to the Babylonians.

None of this means God is a liar. That is your interpretation. And it may well be wrong.

Not much different from anything and couldnt be because we all use each others energy for life. your mutations never show more than small trait changes and never show large scale change or even small scale change in the stucture or systems of the organism. As in a small change in the way a kidney functions or the heart or stomach or nerves or lungs, Why because it then becomes a bad mutation and hurts the organism, Why because to change it even slightly is a defect. Show me a organism say a mouse or what ever which has a small mutation in the kidneys or lungs that isnt a problem but will stay with it untill it becomes useful later when the environment is right for this change. Show me a reptile that has a small change in its kidneys that becomes over time a kidney for a mammal. Show me a eye that with a small change that isnt a problem. Eyes only work when all the parts are there or it is a defect.

I am not telling you what to believe. I am only pointing out that your interpretation of scripture may be wrong... and that other interpretations are possible.

I don't care if you don't accept evolution, but it is hypocrisy to call evolutionary theory "ridiculous" when you believe that a talking serpent really existed and persuaded a woman made from a rib to eat a fruit from the Tree of Knowledge. "Do not judge others least you be judged."

Oh yes, it's ridiculous to tust GOD instead of MAN... Then again you don't believe in your creator so I can't help you there. My interpretations might be off by a little (like what you guys think about evolution) but I know that I'm pretty close. For example the bible is REAL stories about REAL people not a bunch of symbolic metaphoers that reprasent NOTHING! The bible has been tried and tested and hasnt been found lacking, God's word is TRUE!!!!1

The mutation is only useful if the herbicide is present, however, it confers no known detriment in the absence of the herbicide.

I'm a Christian and the Bible is full of metaphors. Symbolism does represent something. Many of the people mentioned in the Bible may or may not have been real individuals. When it comes to science the Bible has also been found lacking mainly because it's NOT a science text book.

If you think the Bible is a science book then I want you to explain the putting of sticks in the ground so that animals are born with stripes. An old belief in the ancient world that is complete rubbish from a genetics standpoint.

But don't I have to trust men to know that God exists? Don't I have to trust the writings of men, the man made interpretations of man made documents, and the oral histories of men in order to support creationism? I would rather trust objective evidence anyday.

I also suggested you not ridicule others unless you can accept ridicule in return. I can make the bible sound silly, just as easily as you can make evolution sound silly. I view creationism as a scientific question. I view christianity as a theological question. Whether or not creationism is true does not affect my judgement of Jesus as the Christ. I do not accept either one, but for totally different reasons. I hope that is always clear in my posts.

Quite simply, there is no way for me to tell who is right and who is wrong. There is no objective evidence for the existence of God. I do not view this as a weakness, since theological claims do not require objective evidence. However, creationism (the creation "science" part) is not a theological claim but a scientific one. In this realm the lack of objective evidence is a weakness, as is the objective evidence that falsifies creationism.

The theory of evolution is an explanation of all of the objective evidence that we currently have. Since there is no objective evidence that God exists (or Zeus, Ganesh, etc) he is never considered as an explanation. That's how every branch of science works.

The cell design in the flower or a seed is so ifantessimal, yet all the components are there to make it grow and flourish. We at one time thought the smallest particle in existence was the atom. Now that we have tools that can see smaller particles, we now see that there is a smaller particle called a quark. I predict that the universe is as small as it is big because it has no beginning and no end. Even scientists now admit that the human heartbeat is not regular. And scientists say there is no design? Only rational arguments, please. and you're right. You don't know the truth, so why do you pass along arguments that you don't know are true?
