Why do creationists insist that the theory of evolution is inherently atheistic?

Neil DeGrasse Tyson has a good point here:
Creationists End Civilization - YouTube

In short; During the period 800-1100 AD the intellectual centre of the world was Baghdad. It was liberal, and a beacon of science. From this short period we have a plethora of really impressive advances in science. Until some religious nutjob - Hamid Al-Ghazali - wrote works from whence you can easily read that mathematics is the work of the devil.
The Islamic world has not recovered from that. So, the question is if we should let the US follow suit. It has had approximately 200 years of existence of which a fairly short period has been tremendously successful scientifically.

These days though, people like Kent Hovind, Ken Ham, AV, Doveaman, Dad and all their ilk are pushing to have the same exact thing happen in the west. Should we let them, in the name of religious tolerance?

Though I confess a quote by one of the viewers on the video strikes home rather well. Sharpaudio says:

It's a waste of your time,
and it just annoys the pig.

Believers push to do away with math!!!?? Wow. Grasping at straws?

As for the US..the president has opened the gates to hell. He has pushed many things that directly oppose God. Oh..and about 'should we let them' -- not like you have a choice.

Read my post in it`s entirety. Those were muslims, you guys are doing the same with physics, astronomy and biology.

Sure he has. And I have no doubt he is also a muslim atheist communist fascist zombie robot. From mars, I suppose.
Whatever, "dad".

We can sit back and take it or actually do something. So far we have not organized much. Perhaps it is time we did.

I stumbled onto a hilarious exposure of a quote-mine on another thread where geologic Flood strata was the OP. I couldn't have asked for a better quote-mine trap than this one:

http://www.christianforums.com/t7726255/#post62538877

It also illustrates how reading comprehension skills are so often the issue wherever there is science-denial at work.

Another funny thing about that is "Polystriate" is a "creation science" term, not a geological term. The correct terminology is "upright" or "In situ" fossil. :)

I've always liked "flying squirrel."

And even though scientists today know better, they haven't plutoed the term yet.

It is also funny to see how the guy caught quote-mining tried to talk his way out of the hole he had dug for himself. Of course, he never actually read the sources he cited----and he didn't even stop to notice and consider why the word "polystrate" was used in that way. He cited the article in order to claim that it was supposedly a legitimate geological term, but he completed missed the fact that the author was about debunking the polystrate fossil myth. Indeed, a lot of creationist quote-mining is based upon failure to read sources rather than deliberate lying per se. Of course, this kind of quote-mining happens because there is so little regard for careful sourcing. One has to wonder at what point a shallow, casual disregard for truth becomes outright dishonesty.

When an Embedded Age Creationist gets called a YEC.

When an Embedded Age Creationist gets called a Last Thursdayist.

When an Embedded Age Creationist is told there's no difference between embedded age and omphalism.

When "magic" is used for "miracle."

When "poof" is used for "created."

When "heavens" is used for "heaven."

When the Johannine Comma is removed from the Bible.
----and he didn't even stop to notice and consider why the word "polystrate" was used in that way.
If you have an issue with the word "polystrate" all of a sudden, may I make a suggestion?

Take it up with Wikipedia.
A polystrate fossil is a fossil of a single organism (such as a tree trunk) that extends through more than one geological stratum.

When an Embedded Age Creationist gets called a YEC.

Because he is.

When an Embedded Age Creationist gets called a Last Thursdayist.

because he is.

When an Embedded Age Creationist is told there's no difference between embedded age and omphalism.

because the only difference is in his imagination.

When "magic" is used for "miracle."

because they're one and the same.

When "poof" is used for "created."

because they're one and the same.

When "heavens" is used for "heaven."

because they're one and the same.

And this is the problem with YECs such as yourself, AV -- you are the author of your own confusion.

Your "point," as always, AV, is that YECs such as yourself have nothing whatsoever to contribute to the study of the real world, and are reduced to bad sophistry and vain and feeble attempts to make themselves sound clever.

The problem is that a confidence man who can only succeed in conning himself is not a very talented one.

 -- Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Are you hinting you're not going to stop, though?

As long as you are deluding yourself, I'll be happy to point it out to you.

And tell the truth, you're pretty happy people are talking to/about you...

Actually, I'm not.

And for the record, there is someone else on board that I notice you're not bothering to bother ... and that says volumes about your selectivity.

I guess I should feel honored, but I'll pass.

You should feel honoured. People like dad and his ilk tend to get ignored by many as beyond help. That people still bother with you is a sign they think you can still be communicated with. There is a large 'but' looming there though.

Both say the earth is only 6,000 years old. How is that not a young earth belief?

When an Embedded Age Creationist gets called a Last Thursdayist.
Either way it is just making stuff up.

When an Embedded Age Creationist is told there's no difference between embedded age and omphalism.
Again, just making stuff up.

When "magic" is used for "miracle."
The only difference is the context in which it is used.

When "poof" is used for "created."
I kind of like poofed. What about "said" and "let"?

When "heavens" is used for "heaven."
I believe the consensus of theologians is heavens. The KJV version is wrong, though a minor error.

When the Johannine Comma is removed from the Bible.
That happens when one has to translate from one language to another.

If you have an issue with the word "polystrate" all of a sudden, may I make a suggestion?

Take it up with Wikipedia.
No, perhaps you should.

From Wiki: "The word polystrate is not a standard geological term. This term is typically only found in creationist publications".

I wasn't referring to dad, I was referring to someone who is ... shall we say ... likes to think he is very sincere in his posts.
