  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do Christians have trouble with accepting Evolution?

David would never have rejected Christ like some Pharisees and Scribes did, and he loved scripture.

Psalm 119:18 Open my eyes, that I may see
Wondrous things from Your law.

23 Princes also sit and speak against me,
But Your servant meditates on Your statutes.
24 Your testimonies also are my delight
And my counselors.

Isaiah 30:20 And though the Lord gives you
The bread of adversity and the water of affliction,
Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore,
But your eyes shall see your teachers.

Revelation 19:9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

And again- Holy, Holy, Holy

1 Corinthians 10:10 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

Isaiah 30:21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.
22 You will also defile the covering of your images of silver,
And the ornament of your molded images of gold.
You will throw them away as an unclean thing;
You will say to them, “Get away!

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”[c]
17 Therefore

“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”[d]
18 “I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.

I side with God as the source of life. It appears quite clearly that life evolved over time from Gods original creative act.

Friend and fellow believer, it doesn't have to be so black and white. Just because non-believers try to use the observations of science, of old earth evolution of life, in an attempt to discredit creation, does not mean our faith/trust in God is invalid.

In my belief the Hebrew authors of Genesis put together a faith story based on their traditions and some much older creation narratives then in existence in Mesopotamia.

The world is darkness. We cannot abide in the light when we abide in darkness

It only appears so because they push the idea.
There is no compelling evidence to support it,there is compelling evidence to refute it.
"Explanatory power" is what naturalism lacks.
Saying "evolution did it" doesn't make it so.
But hey, i believed it for some 30 years too...
But then it was pointed out to me, why it is improbable, even impossible.
Itś obviously the lack of a mechanism that writes the necessary data for new traits, which renders it an outdated conjecture.

It IS black and white.
It is either by design or by chance.
Just because non-believers try to use the observations of science,

Clearly you don't believe that, probably (as it was with me) because it is unbelievable how the popular scientific community sells us an unscientific idea.

You have no evidence that the creature in Job was even from this planet, let along a dinosaur. And I merely mentioned the "rings of Saturn" omission in the Bible to point out that there are gaps in the Biblical science statements. Your accusations against science apply to the Bible. I didn't mean to actually accuse the Bible of having any problems; I mean to accuse your ACCUSATIONS of having problems.

Let me repeat the same thing again. It is IMPOSSIBLE to have every creature in a fossil, there HAS TO BE gaps in the fossil record because of that simple fact and that is NOT A DISPROOF OF EVOLUTION.

There is not really any problem with the biblical statement about the size of the temple bath and the value of PI . . . it s merely that this is an instance in which we COULD HAVE SEEN an accurate bit of knowledge inserted beyond the ability of men of the time to demonstrate and LO we DON'T SEE IT there.

It is impossible to think of any natural way at all for the universe to come into existence that would be incompatible with Isaiah's statement that God stretched out the heavens; therefore it is not a prediction of any particular scientific statement about how the universe came into existence.

You can't go from the Job 26 passage to Newton's understanding. Its merely that Job 26 is vague enough to encompass what Newton uncovered.

Its the same thing when the Bible talks about creating all life "after their kind". You can't figure out that all life follows a set of relationships in a great "tree of life" pattern from that statement . . . but it is vague enough to allow one to assert it is a prediction of evolution, with patterns being established and then followed in descendant species .

That's how you should be speaking of evolution and the Bible! Point out it the understanding of the nested hierarchy of all life is foreshadowed in that statement!

You are avoiding the question of "Fossil proof" by focusing on EVERY Creature... I didn't ask for that evidence, Only asked for an accounting on Human So-called evolution, and the GAPS between Monkeys and Men that evilution never accounted for! Do you really think these infantile tactics will work to avoid the question?-Just answer the question!! Can you explain the difference between evolution in species vs. genos? Perhaps if you could your responses would be different!! It will however clear up all the "vagueness" regarding the "tree of life."

I opened my answer to your "dino" reference with the disclaimer the Bible is not not a "scientific manual," but included that where it speaks on Scientific matters it is accurate. You ignored this in your eagerness to point out "gaps in the Biblical science." I made no "accusations" regarding gaps in Scriptural truth, I responded to yours in your non-sequitor response.

I also have all the evidence I need from the Bible that Leviathan was an earthly life form because the only life forms the Bible refers to not of this earth, are angels and God Himself... Regarding the PI REFERENCE, its obvious you didn't read the attachment I sent you, showing that there is plenty of evidence of knowledge on this subject in the text "beyond the men of the time." Just because YOU don't see it, or REFUSE to ACKNOWLEDGE IT, doesn't mean others don't. Don't include us in your ignorant "we"!!

Just because Isaiah's quotation may not agree with YOUR conceptions of a "natural way for the universe to come into existence," does not discount the accuracy of Scripture-the literature of ETERNITY. Your egotism that everybody should conform to yours or others opinions and pea-brain world conceptions, of men instead of God's truth is an affront to common sense Christianity everywhere. It's seems obvious that your "natural way' allows no room for the Creator in your equation of origins. This is how You need to think of Creation and the Bible, instead of putting materialism ahead of God's Truth. But then again these truths are spiritually discerned which seems to be something you are sorely lacking.

Here's to hoping you can awaken your Scriptural Spiritual Awareness...

God Bless!

There may be an explanation that young earth creationist haven't considered.

Jesus had a more positive view of this world and Gods children who live on it.

No he didn't have a positive view of this world. He said we must give up lands and family and other such things in order to be his disciples. We must give up our love for this world. Its not merely a useless command but there is a reason behind it all. Satan controls this world and if we do not become separate from it we will be deceived by it. Your understanding seems to come not from scripture but from the the world. Its an appeal to the flesh, not spirit. Look at the apostles, they all followed Christ and they forsook their love for this world, as John says, do not love the world or the things in it. They all gave up their earthly citizenship in order to follow Christ to the cross. This understanding of mine, its not built on a few scriptures out of context, but a very deep study and meditation on the words of Christ and His apostles.

I do understand the context "of the world" but Jesus lived as a men among men on this world that he himself created. He showed how we can overcome the world. Making scientific observations about the history of the planet is a search for truth not a love of worldliness.

I dont think you do understand the context. If you did you would agree that we must be separate from the world, instead of joining it. Jesus was not a man among men, he was the king of kings. We are kings as well, but the kings of the world reject him. Jesus called sinners out of the world, to join His kingdom. That means to be separate from this world. With respect, i believe you are blinded by love for this world.

Yes, and so do Atheist scientists also reject him. What agreement does an unbeliever have with a believer? Come out from among them and be separate says God. 2 Corinthians 6

I once saw, with the help of scripture, that i loved the world more than God. I didn't fool myself into believing i loved God with my whole heart, mind, and soul. Instead, i admitted to God that i didn't love him as i should. I knew God wanted honestly not deception from us. I asked him to open my eyes, help me to see, and to not be deceived. I still pray this, because as Paul said, i don't count my self to have apprehended, or to be perfect. I press forward however.

Its not like God wants us to be in misery. He asks us to be separate from this world and not to love it because it will deceive us. Its idolatry. God wants us to love each other, share what we have with each other, let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, and to find Joy in the Lord. However, we are also called to battle against the darkness of this world, by being separate from it. The OT stories of the Jews becoming separate from the world, and fighting their battles, its a carnal example of a spiritual battle that we fight as well. Only our weapons are not carnal, nor is our land carnal, but its all spiritual. WE dont follow politicians and scientists, but instead Christ and Him alone. WE dont war in the flesh either but in the spirit. The world fights carnal war but ours is spiritual.

That doesn't work, BiblcialAstronom. Job 40:15 says, "But consider the chief of beasts, the crocodile..." and then goes on to describe the behavior of these creatures. So no way is Job referring to dinosaurs.
"Crocodile"-is only one translation, there are others to take into account. Did'nt you ever see the scientific evidence on "Dino'croc," makes its younger modern cousins look like gecko's...why do you think it refers to it as the "Chief of Beasts"?? Not because its a regular croc...

No it isn't.
There are no transitional species, because evolution does not work.
There is extinction and variation within the kinds.
If there was actual support from the fossil record, it would be silly to deny it.

Jesus warned us about petrifying the truth and hiding it under a rock without gaining interest.

Anti science people are using religious fanaticism to, not only separate from worldliness as Jesus said, but to separate from reality. Failing to acknowledge the facts of reality leads people to be suspicious of any other truths you have to teach. Literally a box of rocks can see that the world is quite old as well as the fossil record.

But you acknowledge different species living at different times????

The reason there are no transactional specie skeletons is because transition was "sudden" throughout evolution leaving only the remains of the former and the later.

But still, what we have is the fossil remains of many different life forms over millions of years. We have humans and human ancestors in the fossil record.

I acknowledge creation and extinction.

They purport it was sudden, but there is no evidence for evolution, no slow evolution, no sudden evolution.
There is no mechanism that makes DNA write itself and come up with purposeful traits.
Random mutations of data do not produce new data, even when you only multiply the 'fit'.
But still, what we have is the fossil remains of many different life forms over millions of years.
The millions of years are a naturalistic model.
They need lots of time to make evolution credible.
We have humans and human ancestors in the fossil record.
No, sorry.
They SAY they do though, but it's ambiguous at best.

You see, they sell us this belief, they have been pushing it for decades now.
This does not make it true, even when millions of people are convinced.

No naturalistic scenario exists to account for the reality of living nature.
They assume / decide "evolution did it".
But we've been waiting for a solid case for 150 years now.
Meanwhile, due to continuous gain in knowledge about living nature, things turn out to be more and more genius, efficient, purposeful and complex.
You see, life is supernatural, it doesn't occur naturally.
There are no laws of nature that can design and produce complex interdependent systems like living nature.

Lets say for arguments sake that a box of rocks can tell that rocks are very old. That doesn't mean that life on earth is that old however. The earth is constantly shifting and changing. We have had volcanic activity, and flooding, all over the place, for millennia after millennia. Yet we are suppose to believe that the stratum is as it was hundreds of thousands of years ago. Its like trying to investigate a 1000 year old crime scene that's been trampled, torn down, and rebuilt multiple times. Its impossible to find any pure forensic evidence.

"They" are just people, some atheist, some agnostic some religious, who are simply observing the remains of earths history. We are getting further and further away from a the 6 day, young earth theory of the Hebrew priest.

We are in agreement in principle with some things. Within evolution I can see the purposive potential of the originator of life (God) that has evolved and been fostered by our unseen friends in the celestial world.

I don't know why it's so difficult to see and grasp that Gods technique of Life creation for our world used the process of evolution.
